  1. You are exactly right....he wasn't very good. His numbers in the ECHL are even pretty poor.
  2. Nice thanks. What I meant was high school is not all that challenging and average high school grades can get a student into UND. That is a fact. An NCAA program shouldn't be wasting their time with way below average students….as school is the other side of the equation here. UND isn't UNC.
  3. Right when I read Mantha may be heading North I was kind of t'd off simply knowing that we may lose Schmaltz after this year and the fact that it never hurts to have too many defensemen. Then I started to think unbiasedly and realized this kid needs to work on parts of his game that are tough to work on at the college level, his O game. He is probably better off going to the OHL where kids will be less mature, giving him the oppurtunity to play in more situations earlier. Either, way I seriously doubt he was going to make an impact before his junior year and this kid appears to think he's a first rounder....no big deal. After reading about his lack of intelligence, it's all coming together. This kid simply doesn't fit the college mold. It's pretty tough not to get into UND (no disrespect, great school).
  4. I don't believe they are coming directly from Somalian. I am fairly certain, in most cases, they are coming from larger cities (Minneapolis, Chicago, etc) looking to start businesses or simply looking for work. They hear the ND economy is booming and they start flocking.
  5. Interesting gersich gets drafted by a relative.
  6. Wait until 2015-2016....then Kopitar will get a big deal. As someone previously noted, the team caps will be increasing by a significant amount next summer. CHI simply needs to make it work this summer. Also, they'll both come down a little, Bowman is a great GM and he'll figure something out.
  7. http://ndgoon.blogspot.com/2014/06/patrice-bergeron-credits-brad-marchand.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2FZTZqA+%28Goon%27s+World%29 Ha, that was a good one. Patty goes +30 in his sleep, no matter who is on his line they will be +20 or above.
  8. Haha, I got beat up a bit this year as well.
  9. Crosby with the Lindsay... that's a nice one.
  10. He's so good. He should be their captain.
  11. I like this bunch, a nice blend of highly talented true freshman with some highly talented overagers who put up very good numbers in the USHL. I think we have this year's Natty all locked up
  12. I'm going to go out on a hunch and say the only way he sits is if he's injured. Also, my guess is that he'll end up with 27+ pts.
  13. You guys seem to like Thompson up top with Schmaltz, similar to my initial guess. I thought Thompson looked so good at the end of the season, his first pass out of the zone is ridiculous (similar to Schmaltz's). In regards to my initial D profected lineup, the reason I was putting Ausmus over Stetcher was simply his size and the fact he is more defensive. He would be useful on the PK. Early in the season Stetcher showed some offensive flashes however we already have some highly offensive defensemen (Schmaltz, Mattson, Ladue....even Poolman who is more like Ladue in that they are both above average 2-way defensemen). On a side note, I also really like the size and mobility of that defensive core....could be scary if they click early. As for SiouxScore's linup...I like that top 6. If Poganksi figures out the speed early that could work. Olson may be a nice fit there too. There were times last year when I thought Chyzk could be that underclassman who could be good his junior and senior years. We'll have to see. Also, Simonson may be able to flow up and down the lineup. He does have offensive skill; his shot is very good.
  14. Parks-markmac-caggs Johnson-schmaltz-chyzk Odonnell-pattyn-gaarder (could be an interesting senior line vs younger teams, I'm optimistically thinking this line could put up more pts than were all thinking) Poganski - Simonson - Olson (st Clair or Murphy could work their way on to this line, or the third if odonnell underperforms). Schmaltz - Thompson Mattson - ladue Poolman - ausmus (I honesty think it's between ausmus and stetcher depending on the type of team we play. Poolman is a clone of ladue, he can't be sat at least not right away based on what I've seen of him. The college game may throw him for a loop, who knows).
  15. What a said was they are a good hockey school...not simply a look back of the past 5 years. I was saying in general, since I have started watching college hockey (since '93). CC has always had some good teams. They are Niagra, anchorage or MTU.
  16. CC is a good hockey school. Miami has a decent amount of nhl players good right now, that played there in the past 7 years. You are missing the point here...Jackson was a stud.....in the best junior A league in NA.....at 16. I'll i was saying was scsu got a nice prospect. His resume is good, get what I'm saying?
  17. Haha.....-1000% this happens.
  18. Rookie of the year in the best American junior A league in North America as a 16 year old. Close to 30 goals, id give him a peek. FYI....CC and Miami are good hockey schools.
  19. Monster pick up....I was hoping somehow Hak would get this kid. At least he chose the NCHC....good for the conference.
  20. Agreed. Greene does serve a purpose however LA is so loaded at that position and they have more guys coming up potentially. Even Reaghr who isn't playing is solid. Also, Doughty is getting a letter next year for sure.
  21. Yup, and a guy like Greene may sign for next to nothing....same with Mitchell and king for that matter. Gabby is gone in my opinion, some team will give him too much money after this years playoff performance.
  22. Because there are 5 better all around defenseman on their team (from the coaches standpoint). Greene does a great job on the kill though.
