Can only speak for myself here as an NDSU fan. I was proud of the FCS national championships, D2 national championships, and College Division championships. They were and are significant milestones for any institution and any school at any level that achieves a national championship amongst its peers should be proud. As a fan, I'm excited to play bigger and better (in theory at least) teams now that the Bison moved up. I'll be proud of any MWC championships (as I was with MVFC or NCC). Will I be as excited about lower tier bowl games? Not necessarily. But I will look forward to the opportunity to see them play teams they may not have otherwise been able to schedule. My hope is that, at some point in the not too distant future, they have an opportunity to make the CFP. I think that is somewhat realistic. Do I expect them to make it very far at first? Not necessarily. Green & Gold glasses wearing tjamz says "give us a few years and we'll be competing for a Natty against the Ohio, Indiana, Bama, Texas, etc... of the world". Realistic world tjamz knows that while it's technically possible, it remains highly unlikely in the immediate future. I guess my question to you is this though: Without mentioning hockey*, if "JV Nattys" are so easy, why hasn't your team made it past the round of 16? I mean, it's JV ball afterall. Surely the mighty fighting hawks should make short work of such losers? *Speaking of hockey, I'll give UND the credit they deserve for their 8 D1 hockey championships over the year. Your team has represented your school well amongst the 64 (I think... correct me if I am wrong) college hockey programs that play at the D1 level. I'll give you credit for your D2 natty in football as well. Why? Because regardless of my love/hate of a school I'm not going to diminish their successes over things they couldn't control like some like to do (division they were in, the amount of schools playing at your level, etc.... ) Will I cheer for UND? MAYBE against SDSU/Minnesota.... maybe.

NDSU gets its share of the streaming revenue through Kiswe. They are also eligible for 75% year one and 85% year two of the revenue package if/when the MWC negotiates for a better media deal. I would assume the MWC has had "what if" conversations with it's media partners and is likely to release a new media agreement once the dust has settled and the schedules are set.

It was a serious question. I didn't watch the game (not a basketball fan in general) but the deeper a team goes in the playoffs, the more money comes back to the conference and its member schools. Financially that benefits UND as well.

Wouldn't that mean that they should cheer for the Bison in the NCAA tourney? I mean, each time a Summit League team advances from one round to the next, the conference gets more money.... and that money gets paid for 6 years. Therefore there is no good reason not to cheer for your conference mates once your team is done (or at least be content they're still winning) as it does nothing but help the conference and it's member schools going forward.

A few years back (2013 I want to say..) I was down in Brookings for a game and stopped by Cubbies for a drink with my friends. There was a group of former SDSU players literally spitting on the backs of people with NDSU apparel on as we walked through the door. There's idiots in every fan base. Fortunately that night didn't end up with any fists flying, but they were ABSOLUTELY trying to bring that on.

The bids were placed well before (I believe a 2-3 weeks ahead of time, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong) the selection committee decided who was playing who. Therefore SELA had no idea who they would be hosting, just like UND didn't know if they'd be hosting and who they'd be ultimately bidding against.

Quite honestly because SHSU is incredibly overrated and has been for a few years. They play in a crap conference and get seeded due to past reputation rather than current records. On a yearly basis only 3 or 4 teams have a real shot at winning it all, however with the way the system works, 20 other teams get into the playoffs as well. So you have mid level teams playing each other with the slightly less crappy teams getting a home field advantage until the quarter/semi finals. Then they run into the top tier teams of that year and get exposed. SHSU may be a top 5-10 team.... But there isn't much separating them from anyone else in the 5 to 35 range or so.

I agree. I think the upper half of both the MVFC and BSC would make that move (along with a few other conferences)

The fact that Weber filled two holes in back-to-back years and was scheduled LATE in the scheduling season didn't have any effect on that, did it?

Does it have anything to do with NDSU not really liking UND all that much? Especially during the Gene Taylor era?
