  1. How do you know Tim and Swyg do not post on here....and if other people do not have a life for reading or posting on this web site....why are they reading it?? and on the air no less??? Reminds me of Jack in a few good men....do not question how i defend your country....i would rather you pick up a weapon and stand post...either way...i dont give a damn what you think you are entitled to....
  2. So posting on a web site that is based on opinions and having a screen name with a name is how different than lets say....someone talking behind someones back....hoping the person your talking about wont find out??? It is any different than that??
  3. as with any high school job.....it has to do with the hand that is dealt to u....and his hand for FB and WBB was at least a pair of aces or kings......
  4. Well...by adding 21 schollies right away...maybe UND can have someone on a full scholarship....last time I checked...36 is the max for D2...and UND has that...so no other school is more funded...not sure why there was crying about not having a player on a full scholarship....surely one of those recruits UND got from Minnesota was given a full ride...since UND took them from the U of M...gophers not UMC...as stated by the Assoc Head Coach!!!
  5. I guess time will tell if I am correct or not....but I can tell you this....the person who told me this golfs with him...drinks beers with him....has many long long conversations with him...so i am guessing its reliable...and actually....D1A...is a better bet....IMHO
  6. inside joke about Mandan....but oh well....another coach who could be on the move is the HC...DL....have heard he has been throwing his name out there....not very happy with new administration...guess we will see.....

    Northern Iowa?

Three Panthers earn All-America honors Senior placekicker Brian Wingert (Cedar Falls, Iowa) earned second-team status, while junior quarterback Eric Sanders (Oelwein, Iowa) and senior cornerback Dre Dokes (Springfield, Mo.) tallied third-team honors.
  8. The big Mandan boy is already in the office at football....just a matter of timing to announce it....emergency hire....great for him....great for UND...he is a class act....and usually a good guy...even though he is from Mandan...
  9. I certainly hope that UND is getting 4,000 dollars from UMC with no return trip, since that is what UMC is charging NCC teams....if UND didnt....then that is poor management....that schedule makes the U of Minnesota's football schedule look like a juggernaut...
  10. It will also make it a lot tougher to get the kids from small towns...especially for football....which we all know many UND great players have come from small ND and Minn towns....if UND isnt on their radio it will be like the Central Redskins....no one will remember it...when they go to college!!!!
  11. that is great news....i hope everything turns out well!!! Makes you stop and think about things...we go about our daily lives and for the past two weeks Brian has been fighting for his life....puts things into perspective a little bit..actually into perspective A LOT!!! hopefully all the prayers have been helping!!!
  12. Wow...that is great news!!! All of this just makes you sit back and think about what matters....I hope he is ok...he has his whole life ahead of him....my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family!!!
  13. I just wanted to ask everyone who knew Brian or is associated with UND baseball or Red River to give a quick prayer for Brian.....He is in the hospital with Meningitus...sp?? and is currently in a coma...sp??...Not sure of what the long term consequences will be from this....but things are defenitely not sounding good....any prayers would be appreciated or cards etc.....they are asking for now flowers due to he is in intensive care...in case of allergies....Thanx
  14. Interesing letter to the editor in the GF Herald today from a concerned fan about going D1 VIEWPOINT: DI numbers still don't add up GRAND FORKS - First, why does UND feel the need to move to Division I when we aren't even winning championships in Division II? Yes, we have been close, but as the saying goes, "close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades" - and the last time I checked, UND didn't have either of those sports. Our football team has won one, count 'em, one national championship (five years ago, no less) - yet all of the sudden, we are a DII "powerhouse"? If we put our football team up against teams such as the Texas A&M Longhorns, could UND compete? Probably not. So why is Division I even being discussed for the rest of our teams? If we're going to move to DI, we need to go all the way. We need to forget Division I-AA for football and put all of our teams on an even playing field. I also want to know how UND is going to continue supporting DI after it loses all of its fan base. For example, our men's basketball team. I went to games this year, and the fans seemed to leave after the women's game. This isn't a secret; all people had to do was be there. And obviously, they weren't. North Dakota State University's stats say it all. According to the NDSU Web site, the university's women's basketball attendance went down from 2,805 in 2003 to 1,927 in 2006, after the move. Also, for those readers who don't like the fact that we are playing schools such as Jamestown and Mayville, NDSU's men's basketball team played five of these so-called "smaller schools" this year. Their women's basketball team played 3. Even their football team is playing a "smaller school" in the likes of Concordia-St. Paul this coming up season. And how will UND pay for the DI move? In the Herald story, "UND's AD supports move to Division I," , athletic director Tom Buning says that "It has gotten too expensive to be as good as we are in Division II and to stay there." What does he expect to happen if we move to DI - that it will get cheaper? The traveling costs alone would go up enough to make the move unreasonable at this time. Finally, all money aside, I say that until our teams - all of them - are winning DII national championships consistently, we need to stay where we are and build our programs - and then and only then, consider it. Mariah Hager I agree with that.....there is no money in D1AA for football.....and if were going to go big time....lets go all the way go D1A football....that is where the money is....unfortunately so is the expense....more than 4 grand to get USC here for football!!
  15. I know two of the recruits....and one of them is from my hometown...and i know exactly why he didnt chose UND....and it wasnt because he was getting a full ride....and it wasnt because NDSU was D1
  16. UND lost 5 recruits to NDSU...supposidly....those 5 made or broke this recruiting class?? I find that hard to believe....as well as other implications...As far as the mission statement....As THE FLAG SHIP institution...this move will not benefit student athletes wanting to pursue their education and play college athletics...If you believe to compete at D1 UND will find ND kids, your kidding yourself....in order to get kids to Grand Forks, you will have to get the border line kids....IMO
  17. I personally do not think it was orchestrated...but I guess we will see in a few weeks....as far as going D1...I dont think its a good idea....because UND's mission statement for student athletes
  18. According to North Dakota
  19. I am not so sure...according to Kupchella...he has been steadfast on staying DII...guess we will see...
  20. ABCDEFGHI....Did Rob Bollinger sell his house yet...oh yeah he did....is it too late to offer him the AD job???
  21. I agree with that....along with all the other things going on....value might be a under estimated word....might explain why the AD's vehicle was at Twamley most of the afternoon!!! ooopppssssss
  22. So rather than paying Bemidji to come to GF and play, it would be more cost efficent to pay Wisco or U of M 90,000 to come to GF....or here is a crazy idea, play those schools in a home and away...then its a wash, and it wont cost you 6 grand to play Bemidji.....Many of the NCC schools asked for this when the NCC took advantage of the Mayville States, Jamestowns, Minot St. etc...smaller schools, and pounded these teams and was arrogant and would not go to their town to play....so these schools got together and decided two years ago....were going to stick it to the NCC schools and make them pay us to play them...its that simple.
  23. So, only I should get a warning for that?? Or was the action recipitated?? One warning for one person argument, seems logical to me??
  24. As far as the volleyball coach goes, lets look at her bio: Peterson comes to UND from Minnesota State University Moorhead, where she served as the top assistant coach for the past three seasons and helped guide the Dragons to a 65-27 record during that time, including an NCAA postseason berth in 2005. The Dragons were ranked in the America Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 poll in each of the last two seasons. While at MSU-Moorhead, Peterson coached five all-conference selections, one freshman player of the year, one all-region selection and the program's first AVCA honorable mention All-American. She also served as interim head coach during the 2003 spring season and during the first five weeks of the 2004 regular season. Peterson's off-court duties included overseeing the recruting program, strength and conditioning and team travel. Prior to arriving at MSU-Moorhead, Peterson served as Director of Sports for North Dakota Special Olympics in 2002 and was an assistant coach at Concordia College in 2001. She also has extensive experience working with Midwest elite summer volleyball camps and the Junior Olympic program. So she coached for 3 seasons at Moorhead State as the Assistant, and before that worked with special olympics, and a part time coach with Concordia, and then worked volleyball camps and worked with Junior Olympics. And this does not put up any warning signs, your ok with this bio??
