I’ve started wondering the same thing.

Berry needs to win an NCAA game before he loses another one. That’s my metric going forward. The 2016 title brought Berry a lot of goodwill and capital. But he’s squandered all of it over the past 8 seasons. If UND is not playing in the Fargo regional championship in March 2025, then it’s time for a change.

But then again, you’re talking about a fanbase that’s never experienced a 20-year title drought before, let alone 3 separate ones, in its program’s history.

Bucci is more interested in making some extra cash by hawking products that say “cawlidge hockey” than he is about actual college hockey.

To your point, when people read ESPN today, they will be left with the understanding that college hockey titans are Denver (10), Michigan (9), Wisconsin (6), and the Boston schools tied at fourth with five titles a piece. I guess I’ll hang my hat on the fact they forgot Minnesota too, but no mention of North Dakota’s 8 titles?

It wouldn’t be. But after all, SIOUXELEVENS was talking about UND’s current coach, Brad Berry, who can’t even claim to have NCAA tournament wins over the last 8 seasons like some of those blue bloods.

If fans were calling for Hakstol’s job due to lack of frozen four success it only makes sense for them to call for Berry’s job due to lack of NCAA tournament success altogether. In their eyes, the program has taken a step backwards. I haven’t seen anyone advocate for post season win banners, lol. They would, however, at least like to see the program get back to winning some NCAA playoff games. I know it’s the buzzword of the day, but I don’t see this as gaslighting at all. Their arguments are consistent.

But still can’t believe we hired that doofus over DeBoer to begin with, let alone the fact we extended him after last season. I agree with you. With this athletic department, Berry ain’t going nowhere.

Agreed it couldn’t have helped. It didn’t seem to hurt that much either, tough. We outshot them 40-20. (26-9 in the last 2 frames). Just could never get the goal we needed. They score the empty net, and we lose 2-0. I remember being at the game at feeling entirely confident we would win until 5 minutes left when time started running out.

No crap. Remember when DU’s weak goaltending was going to be their downfall this season …

Not sure which thread this fits best in (do mods feel free to move), but whatever happened to Cole Spicer this Spring? Thought Youngstown had his rights, but I can't find that he actually played for them or anywhere else, for that matter. Curious to know where things are headed for him.

100% I was in the pit at a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert at US Bank stadium while this game was being played. Capella tower downtown was lit up in maroon and gold. I occasionally followed along on my phone during the show, but put it away with a few minutes left expecting the Gophers would win #6 About 20 minutes later, a ripple of audible groans started permeating around the pit. No, it couldn’t be, I thought to myself. I checked my phone again, which confirmed what I was hearing: the collective groans of Gophers fans after they just sh!t the national championship away! It was music to my ears.

I don't know about you guys, but this is quickly becoming the norm for me. I've been through a lot of butt puckering the last 3 frozen fours. - 3rd year in a row for Michigan to get to #10; - Watched Minnesota play the last two years, and they were only a few minutes from winning last year; and - Watched Denver win #9 just two years ago (but it was better than seeing Minnesota and Michigan win, right?), but now they're gunning for #10 as well.

Feel the same way. Don’t want Michigan and Denver at 10 before UND gets 9. Don’t like Boston schools at all either. Hopefully whoever wins has their title vacated due to some NCAA recruiting violation.

Brad Berry would even tell you he’s disappointed he didn’t land Cooley, Fantilli, and a number of other first round recruits. Kind of weird you though took my post as a knock on Blake considering I had just said (see below) about him… I guess if we’re entertaining the hypothetical of trading college players, and assuming Blake still played college hockey, I would try to trade someone else first. If you’re telling me I had to trade Blake, I’ll give you the answer 90%+ people will tell you: Celebrini or Gauthier. Some big on leadership qualities might say McGroarty. To the extent they return, others might try to argue for BC’s Smith, Leonard, or Perreault.

487 points would put Jackson Blake in the top 10 all time for points for UND players in the NHL (although Boeser and Schmaltz will beat him there) and one more ahead of the current #10 player, Jason Blake. I look forward to watching how his NHL career progresses. Hope he can become another Sioux legend in the pros.

Lol. I 've been chuckling at some of the responses to your question. It did, indeed, seem to trigger some folks. They refuse to answer because they don't want to "go in circles" only to go in circles with you about why they don't need to answer. If you can't answer the question, why such urgency to respond and go in the circles you wanted to avoid in the first place? Repeatedly. Lol. Yes, funny how their minds' work.
