Satellite Move for The Fighting Sioux Sports Network
PSB replied to cheesemover's topic in Men's Hockey
FTA satellite is FREE and 110% legal, there is NO ONE to pay after you have purchased and installed the system. Its best to hire an Pro installer that has done Ku installs if you have any doubts. Its harder than a DirecTV installation. You will need at LEAST a 30" dish and Ku LNB together with the DVB receiver, expect to pay $195 SHIPPED for a system. I charge $135 for local installs here in my area, that should help ball park a price of an install. Its BEST to use a LICENSED installer! With the above basic system you will get all the Home games plus 2 ABC news channels. Channels come and go all the time, but with a "fixed system"you are limited to whats on ONE satellite. Add a motor to the system and there are HUNDREDS of channels FTA, including some away games and others teams and sports, who needs the Sunday ticket! news feeds, local channels from other areas, SPORTS..... too mauch to list, I like the LIVE SPORTS and LIVE MUSIC, just watched every minute of FARMAID a few weeks ago for example! There is also a mini receiver (Still need the dish and LNB ) available that lets you watch FTA on your PC, and works like a mini Tivo where you can digitaly record any FTA sports or shows, and even has a timer, FF RW.... Its called the DVB World USB Receiver( expect to pay $105 shipped) if you have a motor you can get HD with it, and 4:2:2 video many sports feeds use 4:2:2 Down side of FTA is you take what you get, channels come and go but you can expect 1000's of HOURS of entertainment for free. Main thing is to make sure you have a way to get the system installed, thats the hardest part. MANY here have managed it and WE are all here to help! But there is no shame in hiring a Pro LICENSED Satellite Installer. GO SIOUX! -

With the Traxis DBS 3500 Instead of using USALS switch to DiSEqC 1.2. then move East and West to peak the signal, when you get the max quality you can get number and store the position, then it will be bang on! -

Hey guys! Word to the WISE. If you do happen to come over to the SatelliteGuys.US FTA forum PLEASE do not mention the Sioux satellite feed by name or freq. in our open area, feeds/channels NOT listed on Lyngsat are not mentioned there, its one SURE way for channels/feeds to be scrambled. THANKS for understanding! We ALL want these games FTA for as long as possible! Hey just did an install for legand Sioux Gollie LEFTY Curran What a gentleman! GO SIOUX! -

Seems there is a transponder on IA-8 that messes up some receivers making them freeze when they get to this transponder! You can change to just Horizontal or Vertical polarity and scan the satellite, this way you will by pass the BAD transponder. Even easier is just enter the Sioux transponder manually, the trick is you have to come all the way down to SEARCH before you will ever see signal quality, has caught our a few of us! So to add the Sioux transponder to a Traxis DBS 3500.......... MENU LEFT LEFT LEFT LEFT To Antenna set up. Come down to Transponder (TP) scan. hit OK Come down to TP Frequency. Enter 12044 Come down to Symbol rate enter 4880 Come down to polarity enter V. Come down to SEARCH and the quality should appear. (If dish is pointed correctly) Also someone was asking about recording games, you can use the DVB World USB receiver hooked to your dish for that, it even has a timer to help record directly to your computers hard drive! Amazing, is just like a mini Tivo! -
Nice one Iceberg, the above info should really help those with satellite systems when it comes to pointing/tweaking their dish, since the Sioux transponder is not active 24/7 Here is hoping for another great season! Go Sioux.

THANKS Marff, this will put a few folks out of their misery Go Sioux! -
PVR Personel Video Recorder Iceberg has one of the new PVR FTA receivers, so he can watch one game and record another....

The only down side with signal beepers is that they tend to want to pull you onto the STRONGER DBS satellites! You just can't beat the signal meter on your receiver/TV If you feel you are close to a satellite try a blind scan, let us know what channels you are picking up then we can tell you what way the dish need to go (further east/West) Go Sioux!
-
There are flat coax cables that will let you run the coax through windows and doors, I would also make sure you run it through a surge protector, the kind that are for satellite/cable coax since.
-
Here are all the angles to satellites in your area, with a FIXED dish without a motor. Still think its a good idea to find and store your true south satellite before adding the motor! Rosharon, TX 77583 Latitude 29
-
Yep. If you give us your zip code we can give you all the angles you need. Mainly your true south satellite! (Zenith) After setting that up everything should fall into place. Its imperative the mast is plumb and level with a motorized system. In fact I always recommend you set up the system and find and store your true south satellite before adding the motor at all. Best to walk before you run. (Also let us know what receiver, LNBF and motor)

I am getting 99% quality! WOW! NEVER seen it that high before, its overkill right now but as we all know this extra signal quality will be needed during the winter! Go Sioux!
-
WOW! 90% signal quality here! 36" dish and Invacom 0.3dB LNBF Go Sioux!
-
Great I was just about to repost the above info..... 12191 freq H polarity 3979 symbol rate Use this to point the dish, enter the above and watch the signal QUALITY. Then some slight rotation (skew) of the LNBF may help increase the signal QUALITY slightly. Rotate the LNBF slightly in its holder, stand away from the dish and watch the signal QUALITY it will only need moved a fraction from where it was from last year but may help slightly. Also you can try moving the LNB slightly closer and further away from the dish reflector and standing away from the dish and watching the quality. I ususlly find the best place for the LNBF is as far awayfrom the dish as it will go in its holder. If anyone is trying to repoint their dish feel free to give me a call any night and I will walk you through it. Forgot to say after you find the satellite/channel do a blind scan and it MAY sort any audio problems!
-
Hit the audio button and choose Left hand audio, only that side was working! Great start! Go Sioux!
-
The old satellite was G3C at 95w New satellite is IA-8, its a NEW satellite and not listed on the Satwork, you can use Telstar 4 as this was in the same position (89w) but is now a dead satellite! The dish wll need moved!
-
SIGNAL is up now, I am getting a solid 60% quality 36" dish with Invacom 0.3dB LNBF Go Sioux! Wait the signal has now jumped to 80+ % Quality!
-
Any satellite should work, but there may be a satellite listed as Telstar 4. This satellite USED to be at 89w but it is now dead, so you can use that, or ANY unused satellite will work. Go Sioux!
-
Wow! Its me who should be thanking you guys! Thanks for taking me in and accepting me as a Sioux fan, it means a lot! Go Sioux! I was in Minot ND. just last week but never did get a chance to visit Grand Forks

IA-8 Test Card DFreq : 11974 MHz(V) SR: 5.632 Msps video/308 audio/256 PCR/8190 You can use the above to point your dish to the new IA-8 satellite, but just as The Berg said best to wait a bit yet (IMO) Lets all hope for better signal quality this season! Go Sioux! "Just back from Minot ND." : )
