  1. With Weber and the Big Sky changing thier logo's, I wouldnt be suprised to see Weber resurfaced thier basketball court to accomodate the new look. Seen pictures of the new paint sceme inside of the BESC, It looks really good, I like the black outline on the ND at mid court. Only 6 more days till you guys become an official member, looking forward to it.
  2. For the most part yes, teams in the Big Sky have had historically had more pass oriented offenses, some schools like Weber and PSU run a more run oriented offenses, but both schools have had capable quarterbacks in the past to help balance it out.
  3. Well this has been fairly entertaining, all this talk about what state is better, who's athletic facilities are better, and this whole thing about who lives where...I though we were all Americans and had the right to live anywhere in the nation? If I had to move to say Virginia, I would still be a Weber State fan, I dont know why you are making such a big deal about that BSB, but that whole argument is pretty pathetic. Anyway, this Wildcat fan is very happy with all of the additions to this conference, who cares how far away they are, UNC's closest Big Sky Rival is almost 500 miles away, and that is Weber, its not like they are that much closer to anybody else than North Dakota is. Anyway back to the topic at hand, to be successful in this conference you need to be able to do 2 things; 1. Win on the road (obviously, and especially in basketball) 2. Have a good passing Defense, the Big Sky is a pass happy league, only a few teams are run attack oriented (Cal Poly, Weber State, Portland State) everyone else seems to rely more on thier passing games, if you can force teams to run on you when it's not thier strength, you can be very good in this conference.
  4. I kinda like the ring to "The University of North Dakota Wolfpack" Fitting since the greatest enemy to the Bison is the Wolfpack
  5. It was for the best, I was a big supporter of the Sioux nickname, but am glad that now it will no longer hinder your BSC membership. So why cant you decide on a new nickname till 2015?
  6. Weber State just came out with thier brand new athletics logo, and I remember hearing that they were going to resurface thier basketball court with the new image, I havent heard anything about it yet, but I have a feeling that Weber is waiting for the new Big Sky logo to come out before they figure out a design. I am a little suprised that UND didnt wait till the new logo came out, but Im sure it's not a too difficult thing to fix.
  7. Why not? the more rivalries the better, and instate ones are usually the funnest. Weber is finally playing thier instate rival (SUU) every year now. And I love it.
  8. The Weber State fan base prides itself on being a classy bunch, as a matter of fact the Northern Colorado fans call us a friendly rival cause of how much hospitality we show them compared to everyone else in the conference. Me, I just love good sports talk un-tainted by smack (unless we are talking about Idaho State) . I still think we will be pretty good this year, we return a lot of good solid players as well as brought in some great recruits. Lillard will definetely be missed, but Weber will be ok, with Randy Rahe as our coach, I believe Weber will always be a top 3 BSC team. I do think Montana will be the favorite this year, but the Big Sky is always a weird hoops conference, and a conference where road wins are really really important. I know that North Dakota and Weber State have never met on the Court or on the football field, so I will be really excited for those matchups.
  9. The Big Sky might not be the most glamorous conference in the nation, but there is no shortage of exciting basketball in this conference. I do believe that North Dakota can come into this league and be competitive. Hoops season cant come fast enough, but first things first, FOOTBALL.
  10. Looking forward to the first ever Weber State/North Dakota basketball game, and the start of a great series between our two great institutions.

    Think Big

Too bad we dont play till 2014, our two teams have never met, and I'd like to see how Weber matches up with North Dakota's finest
  12. Good luck tonight guys, as future Members of the Big Sky, I hope you guys kick some tail, unless of course Weber and UND meet
  13. Looks like we are both in, and maybe even have a chance to play each other if we keep winning our games.
  14. Unfortunately for Weber but Good for Lillard is he will be gone after this season. Some NBA sites are saying Lillard will be the first point gaurd taken in the draft, he is only a junior, but is set to graduate this year. Most likely wont see him next year.
  15. If any are interested Altitude sports and entertainment is broadcasting the Weber State/Montana basketball game live tonight to determine the Regular season champ and the right to host the Big Sky tournament. game time is 7pm MST GO WILDCATS
  16. Consistant is one thing Big Sky refs are.........consistantly bad
  17. Hate to burst your bubble, but the reffing doesnt get any better here in the Big Sky
  18. When Ron McBride was our coach, we were a very run heavy team, but I do know that John L Smith always ran a one back offense, did alot of passing. A total switch from what we were before.
  19. Even Weber stumbles on the road here and there, Idaho State got us in Pocatato on a last second 3 Me too, I am looking forward to playing UND for the first time in BOTH Football and Basketball
  20. Road wins are very important, road wins are tough to come by for anybody in the Sky. Speaking of attendance, Weber State's home crowd of 8,361 vs EWU on Feb 11th was the highest attended Regular season Big Sky game since ironically enough a 2003 Matchup between Weber State and EWU in Ogden, which was over 10K
  21. Yes as long as North Dakota hasnt played Nebraska or Vermont earlier or later in that year or the next few years, they could be matched up. But yes they do try to match the teams up based on RPI, But it doesnt happen all the time, Weber's RPI is 90 but Texas Arlington's is 139. Weber has the 13th highest home RPI and UTA has the 17th highest away rpi which to me seems like they try to keep the matchups as regional as possible. Which is why I think UTA is our matchup and not someone like Drake RPI 97 or Bufflao RPI 98
  22. The only problem is they try to avoid games between teams that have already played in the year or will play the next year. For Example, they wouldnt match Weber up with Southern Utah because they already played this year, and they would have to play again (if weber was at home they would have to return the game the next year), but SUU is joining the Conf next year. If UND and NDSU play every year, they will most likely not pair each other up in a bracketbuster. But if they havent played and there is no contract to play each other in the next few years, then it would be a possible matchup
  23. I dont see why not, for the last two years, each team in the Big Sky participated in a bracketbuster, Im sure when UND joins they will also get that opportunity
