  1. We have the same problem with football, a 17,500 seat stadium and we average less than half of what it holds, even when we have playoff caliber teams, it's sad.
  2. Weber is a hoops school, in a hoops state, basketball is where we made our name so it's easier for us to get fans to the games, If North Dakota can keep winning and stay competetive, it wont be long till you guys are filling your arena, you guys have a very nice arena, much better than a lot that were already in the sky, cough cough Sac state cough cough Portland State cough cough UNC.
  3. Thank you for all the replies, I like the idea of THE University of North Dakota as well
  4. Thanks in part to a bunch of free tickets, a bunch of local school kids and the Jazz Bear, Weber recorded thier largest crowd of the year last night, 8,758
  5. Serious question, probably answered somewhere on this board (too lazy to look for it ) But why is North Dakota not allowed to have a new nickname for a while? Is it an NCAA rule, something the state of North Dakota came up with or the University themselves? I think it's dumb, I dont understand why you guys cant have a new nickname. Another question, how many of you like being referred to as just The University of North Dakota? with no nickname?
  6. Would love that more than anything
  7. What I get from most Weber fans, is that they are more excited about SUU than UND because of the whole instate rivalry thing, and the real only beef about UND being in the conf is travel and distance, both of which doesnt bother me. I may be one of the few, but I think all 4 additions to the Big Sky are good. 4 good football programs, and 2 good hoops programs, it's not the new additions to the Big Sky hoops that are bringing it down, it's some of the older ones that have been here for a long time (ISU, NAU, EWU). I like it, the additions have made the Big Sky a stronger and more stable conference.
  8. We have 19 Big Sky titles, 14 NCAA touney appearances, (not including 3 NIT, 1 CBI, and 1 CIT) 6 NCAA tournament wins. Games vs the Big 3 in the State not too impressive. 10-27 vs BYU (all 10 wins coming in Ogden) 14-26 vs Utah 26-39 vs Utah State 23-6 vs Southern Utah 4-2 vs Utah Valley In the last few years, crowds of 9,272, 10,453, 9,359 and 8,695 have watched instate games.
  9. A lot of talent on this North Dakota team, but like a lot of people already said, not a very "team" team. If UND could get a together like game going they could be really tough to beat, you guys have a very fast team, especially that #0 Anderson? Quite the baller and that one time he flew over our big guys for his own rebound. Great player. I expected a closer game, kinda surprised by the score, and Im sure the game up there in North Dakota will be much closer. See you guys again.
  10. Very nice read, really enjoyed it. There were many questions going around about how good we would be without Lillard, but I think overall we are a more TEAM centered team this year, we dont have one player that we must depend on, since in a lot of games we can usually get 4-5 players with 10 or more points. The one thing that i cant understand about this team this year, is our ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE freethrow shooting. Weber was #1 last year in freethrow % now we are one of the worst ? ? ? Freethrows cost us the BYU game, USU game and San Jose game, and yes as quoted above, freethrow shooting can cost us a Big Sky championship. We have a lot of depth, especially in the inside, and we love to run, this is probalby one of our more athletic teams that we have had in recent history. Looking forward to the first ever matchup between our schools and am glad I get to watch it in person.
  11. Trust me it doesn't get any better, the BSC refs are notoriously known for their extreme ineptitude. Good win guys, see you guys on Saturday. Any of you planning on making the trip?
  12. Idaho State is a tough team to beat at thier house, doesnt matter how good or bad they are they are tough to beat at home. A good example of this is a few years ago Weber played ISU at home and beat them by like 20, Weber played at Idaho State and won on a last second layup in triple overtime. I'm thinking you guys are gonna leave Pokeytato with a W though, a hard fought W.
  13. It takes place after this year, so I still think the team that you play this year will still have to make the return trip........................dont quote me on that though
  14. Likewise, I cant wait for the first ever Weber State/North Dakota game the best part is I actually get to see it in person.
  15. Take a lot of positives away from this, that is a very hard way to go down, but you guys played a really tough opponent on the road in a hostile environment and you almost pulled it out, it took a desperation 3 with like 3 guys in his face to beat you guys, sometimes you just get lucky and unlucky breaks, the good news is the season is young and there is still a lot of basketball yet to be played. You guys continue to play like this, you guys will be one of the tops in the conference this year
  16. Weber State and the Big Sky got a good win last night, Weber State knocked off Dayton on the road.62-61
  17. Very entertaining win, watched it on ROOT while watching Weber on BSTV, congrats on the win
  18. Big Sky basketball isnt really known for it's attendance, the real exception is Weber State since Weber is a basketball school. Here are the average attendance numbers for each Big Sky school last year. 1. Weber State- 6,770 2. Montana- 4,005 3. Montana State- 2,922 4. Southern Utah- 2,541 5. Eastern Washington- 2,286 6. Idaho State- 2,255 7. North Dakota- 2,045 8. Northern Colorado- 1,592 9. Portland State- 824 10. Sacramento State- 648 11. Northern Arizona- 646
  19. (Idaho and NMSU to MWC commish) So is that that Mr. That's that?
  20. Not sure I like the idea, I have a feeling Weber would be separated from the other origional Big Sky schools they have been playing for over 50 years
  21. Rivalries are what makes College football so great, you can never have too many Rivalries. And Weber has both of thier's (Idaho State, Southern Utah) on thier schedule every year.
  22. Its Great to officially be able to say Welcome to the Big Sky
  23. Just wait till you have to be around them for 50 years, if you thought some of the Bison fans were bad.............
