  1. Pick your favorite bar/restaurant.
  2. Haven't spent many fall Saturdays in Fargo the past few years have you?
  3. Bitter? Look, I'm sure Coach Mussman is a nice guy, but things just weren't working out. He said he was angry with himself that he couldn't get things turned around, so I think he understands and accepts his dismissal better than you right now. Time to get over it and move on. IMO, this separation will probably be best for all involved, as it sounds like Coach Mussman's struggles at work were having a negative effect on his health and personal life too. He was a good OC and I'm sure he'll catch on somewhere.
  4. You're probably still at least partially right about the grad asst waiver statement. Ndsu's graduate STEM/research programs are full of "students" recruited from the Middle East and SE Asia. They should probably categorize those waivers as something other than "international" waivers in the future to save themselves a headache. It's strange that the self-declared STEM school doesn't produce STEM graduates capable of doing STEM graduate research work and they have to import their researchers from across the world at great cost to the ND taxpayer.
  5. Hammy is the Lakesbison of gopher hockey.
  6. Agreed. He's handling this about as well as one could wish for. Hopefully the players do the same in the coming months.
  7. Have you met the guy (DB)? "Huge" Napoleon complex.
  8. Fortunately he seems to like UND more than ndsu. Perhaps its due to the lower level of small-man syndrome present at UND.
  9. I'm sure Rob Port will have a post on it soon.....
  10. There's gotta be a few doing it, just need them to get caught.....
  11. As in people saying the state paid all sorts of money to fire him or what?
  12. Ndsu gave $3.7 million in tuition waivers to international students, while UND gave $550k to international students. Institutional waivers was $2.3 million for ndsu and $2.6 million for UND.
  13. They went 8-2 and were ranked 16th in the country. With 32 teams making the playoffs, they were not selected. This guy is a winner.
  14. Gross, I agree with CAS. Brooks may be a great coach one day, but he currently has no collegiate HC experience. UND's program is in rough shape right now and taking a flier on a coach with potential but no experience would not be a responsible decision. Under different circumstances I might say the risk/reward ratio is good enough to hire him, but we are a couple more bad years from being a perennial BSC cellar dweller. Hiring a coach who might be great in the future but isn't now is, IMO, just too risky with the current state of the football program. If we could get an old guy HC with Bollinger as the OC that would be ideal, but this may just end up being a boat we can't risk boarding.
  15. Current recruits will write-off UND or go into a holding pattern to see how it plays out and the new staff should be able to convince some of their recruits to follow them here and hopefully pull in some who were being recruited by the previous staff. Anyone know whether current offers remain valid? I know we have the one verbal commit, should he decide that he still wants to play for UND with the new coaching staff, is the new staff required to honor the scholarship offer? More of a curiosity deal, as I'm guessing it would work itself out regardless.
  16. I'd call this #3 for Faison. Don't forget the creation of an entirely new hockey conference. Wish Coach Mussman well in his future endeavors.

It's sad that it came to this, but I'm glad that Faison was able to make the decision. Good luck to Coach Mussman in the future, I'd think he should be able to catch on somewhere as an OC based on past performance. Now UND can move past this and get the football program back to where it belongs. I look forward to hearing about the potential new hires and hope they are able to bring some recruits with them and hit the recruiting trail hard once they're hired.

I think it's just a saying, kind of like when a relative dies, it's a "don't cry because they're gone, smile because they were a part of your life to begin with" kind of thing. I think he knew it was over before today and is trying to go out with a good attitude. It's better for the university, athletes, and Muss if he goes out with a decent attitude. Nobody wants to hire a broken down coach who can't get over his old job.

    Fire Muss

If I was Muss I would've scheduled the doctor, dentist, optometrist, and a hair cut for this morning and then gone on vacation to the backwoods of Kentucky where there's no cell reception.
