  1. consider that the packers are probably a close 5th, and i think you understand my reasoning. Many people passionately hate and passionately love the vikings. The twins have a much broader base of fans. I can't really think of anyone who hates the twins Having recenty gone on a small town bar crawl, I can tell you I say alot more NDSU paraphernalia than UND. If forced to call UND/NDSU, I would probably lean UND, but would call it a fleeting lead, and plausibly could turn NDSU over the next decade (or next season even if they repeat).
  2. i believe mussman will be asking lennon for a job next off season.
  3. I would have gone twins #1, vikings #2, then und hockey and ndsu football at roughly a tie. NDSU football probably has a broader fanbase if only because it's football, the hockey fans are on average more dedicated.
  4. I was raised in a family of mixed educations. Including aunts, uncles and cousins, its like 15 alumni of each with at least two graduating from both schools. I'm from Fargo and enjoy my hometown and want it to do well, including it's university and sports programs. On the other hand i don't really like grand forks, aside from about a 3 block radius of demers and 3rd street.
  5. I love how any deviation from the party line around here makes one a bison fan (i'm a fan of both schools, fyi, and am a UND alum and working on a second degree at UND)
  6. Off the top of my head, the MVFC and socon are both run first conferences. Not to mention the big10 and sec. If people want to run around praising the ground defense (which I agree, is UND's relative strength), and say that run heavy teams aren't a problem, when in fact UND hasn't played any particularly capable ground teams, and those that have come close, they have lost to. What I'm trying to get at is that based on the last few years, we shouldn't be overestimating our strengths. Montana will likely be the best rushing team UND has played in a while, and to run around saying that it won't be a problem, is plainly without support.
  7. Which run first teams has UND played recently and beaten? And how do those teams compare to a typical montana ground game? Off the top of my head, that would be not many, and not well.
  8. agreed. They are one of the three teams that i seem to be much higher on than everyone else, along with sbu and ysu. I would put them in the 15th or so range.
  9. UW is an outstanding school and program and their walkon's seem to do great. Good luck, and it won't hurt that UW football is pretty popular up here. Go kick some ass and bring the title back up north.
  10. they have a knack for at least playing good teams close, even if they never win. Thats my best guess at least.
  11. I think they are low on Cal Poly's upside in the conference (i figure they finish second or third, possibly first). Otherwise a very good and informative article.

    Buy or Sell

deepest, i'd give that a buy as far as front line starters, no.
  13. at the rate of about 300 people a year, which fits the volume of new construction, which btw isn't very high. In 20 years, grand forks will be roughly the same city it is now, which is roughly the same city it was 20 years ago. F-M, bismarck, sioux falls, rapid city, st. cloud, rochester, sioux city, etc are all growing leaps and bounds faster than grand forks, at least to the extent that grand forks can be considered to be growing.
  14. if you've ever been to a city that is actually growing, grand forks' stagnancy is pretty obvious. edit: hooray for low-pay dead-end retail jobs at trashy companys!

    Buy or Sell

covering up rapes and pressuring victims not to report? I think montana is in much worse shape ncaa-wise than psu or even miami, granted than the psu stuff really has nothing to do with the ncaa.
  16. probably because it doesn't get used much, and it's purchase and storage cost is amortized over less air-time.

    Buy or Sell

buy or sell: ignoring playoffs, NDSU and UND never meet with both schools as members of the fcs. the BSC has more than 15 football members at the start of the 2015 season. montana gets the death penalty over rape-gate

    Buy or Sell

sell it's going to be a few years to bring back students in reasonable quantity, the current generation is lost. I figure a 500-1500 increase in average attendance. sell a couple players will probably make a roster somewhere though fargo is well known for its stagnancy and poverty.

    Buy or Sell

ndsu fans spend way too much time on everyone's board. welcome to the internet.
  20. It would make sense for NDSU to just utilize UND's planes when necessary.
  21. alot of online growth, something like 1/4 to 1/3 of my 'classmates' were online students. Not sure what the exact ratio was in each class. as a graduate of the business school and a soon-to-be graduate of the engineering school, i can say that one is a hell of lot more worthwhile than the other.
  22. Who do you think makes the jump first, NDSU or UM?
  23. last i checked, it was UND that wanted to stay forever in the happy confines of the NCC, NDSU was trying to and DID get the best schools to make the jump. Trying to follow UM and MSU into the FBS is hilariously wrong-headed because 1) those schools aren't going FBS 2) no conference that wants UM and MSU is going to want UND if the idea is to ride around on some schools coattails (god thats a pathetic thought, btw) the best bet would be that school down south, because they could actually make the jump.
  24. you realize that the is the only reason that the big sky is 'stable', right? It's a bunch of medicore schools with football who either don't want to be (UM) or can't be (everyone else) FBS. with potential 15 football members soon, THE BSC looks pretty rickety.
  25. the instability of the summit is way over blown. ndsu, sdsu, usd, uno, umkc and w.ill aren't going anywhere. If UND were hypothetically in that group, you have a stable conference, with pretty good athletics across the board.. Oakland and the indiana schools likely aren't going anywhere, and the summit was almost a two bid league in basketball last year. Had ORU not fled to easier basketball confines it would be a very good league, much better than the big sky. If UND has the opportunity for to join a football conference in the midwest, they should absolutely jump at it.
