We also have Casey Young who stands at 6'2" He has been overlooked but I think he has some potential. I hope they keep golladays redshirt on because I don't think we truly need him....yet.

I would like to see them used more than an alternate. Part of me thinks that the new black pants with the green jerseys would look good; but not quite a sharp as all black. Road- stick with the clean all white look.

Bored at work on a Friday

Absolutely, I think a good "size mix" is key at this level; keep the defense guessing.

Also, Jer Garmin makes a very solid third RB. From what I have seen PJ Sparks is looking pretty good too. Long story short we are in good shape at RB and the passing game is getting worked because of the reasons in your post.

It gets even worse over on anygivensaturday.com

That was a very fair assessment. I agree that we are an establish the run to set up the pass type of team. However, I have not seen much to indicate that we are straying from that philosophy. If you are going off of what you have seen in camp this fall it may seem that we are trying to sling the ball around; but this is a result of an already strong and proven running game. At this point we need to work on our passing game simply because we now have the talent and depth to get back to where we were in the early-mid 2000's. The last couple years was terrible because we could use the run to set up passing situations but the we just couldn't execute on a consistent basis. I agree that we need to use the ground and pound game to our advantage as I imagine a few teams in the Sky might not be able stop us for an entire game; knowing that we can finally pass the ball so they wont stack the box like the past couple years.

Here come the trolls in 3...2...1...

Brian Murphy @murphsturph Idaho will go independent in football and join the Big Sky in all other sports.
-
This is probably true, but does it out weigh the money they would hemorrhage trying to play as an FBS Independent?

I hope they hold off on pulling Golliday's red shirt because we have some pretty good depth: Hardin - Proven. McGill - Almost proven, but has tons of upside. Great speed Ivery - The way he stepped up in the South Dakota game says a lot about his upside. I also think he made a drive saving 3rd down catch in the SF game. Sounds like he has had a great camp. Jackson- Big guy that looks to be getting better each day. Townsend- Had limited reps last year but seems to be shaping into a great player. Great size too. As we say last year Injuries happen but we do not go into 4 receiver sets too often and even if we do one of those guys is sitting on the bench. Other thoughts?

How exactly do you know how many tickets have been sold to the 2nd game against Portland State?
-
How can you be ashamed of events that haven't even happened yet? I feel like attendance and gameday experience this year will see a noticable bump in numbers and quality.

That's awesome! I have always liked coaches like that who can turn simple cursing into an art. I have always thought he seemed like a legit coach and this just helped solidify that lol.

This morning I bought regular tickets in 215 for the Southern Utah game in row I for something like $17.50 per. Right in the 35 yard line area so I am thinking they will be really good seats. I also wanted to go on that side because I am sick of seeing that side empty on TV; so just doing my part I guess.
-
Nice, you can even get the section next to the student section that they opened up to season tickets this year (I think it is section 215). Best of both worlds!
-
Go student tickets with hockey and then season tickets for football since they are so reasonably priced. Then you get the freedom of having a beer in hand and not having a douchy alerus employee babysitting you. THat bothered me when I was a student. One time a security guard almost kicked me out for resting my feet on an empty seat in front of me. Of course he didn't like the fact that I called him out on his BS

I just ordered tickets for the Southern Utah game. I wanted to go to Montana but it just didn't work out with my schedule; and it is nationally televised in HD so I 'm just going to enjoy that one from Colorado. Boston U is also in town that night for hockey so the family is getting that set up so it could be a pretty fun sports day in Grand Forks! I can't wait to get back up there!

Don't forget the creepy old man demographic

you know I read that article and I am not really sure what I think. I do know that there are a number of times when I wanted us to go for it instead of punt. Defense is a strong point for our team and program in general so that makes me feel better about the prospect of going against a team that does not punt. I am no coach but as a guy who played linebacker back in the day I would want to be aware of this and practice for it. I do like our odds on 4th and short because the line is the backbone of our defense this year. I guess we will find out soon enough!
-
I saw that too and that's how I understood it; interesting times....

That would be pretty cool!

Game 1: UND 57 - Mines 6 Game 2: UND 23 - PSU 21 I feel like this one will go to the wire. It can easily go either way. Hopefully we will have our home field advantage back this year. Game 3: UND 27 - SDSU 28 I want to pick UND but at this point, putting my fans hat aside, I don't think we will win. I feel like if we play a great game and win the turnover battle this game could go either way. Then again if we come out and play flat this could be a big loss. Sooooooooo just play to win and we'll see what happens.
