I'm excited for EDC today.  Should be loads of fun.  Two evenly matched teams to start things with North and Davies, and then Sheyenne vs. Central part 2, a year to the date almost where Sheyenne knocked the Knights out of the state tournament.

I think Red River gets past South today as they'll have more legs than the Bruins, but Olsonawski can definitely be a difference maker for them as well.

    Predictions:

    Davies over North

    Central gets redemption

    Red River beats South

    Century over Mandan

    Jamestown over Dickinson

    Minot over Legacy

South has swept Red River this year, and I predict that they will beat them again.

The taking it all in and grateful talk sounds similar to what people say on senior night. But it could be just the game winner moment after seeing Gucci do it so many times his freshman year.

we can only hope he stays. He definitely has some game.

Sounds like he is signing. Had a good career, very glad we didn't have to play against him on Western. Best of luck, he's in a good position being able to pick his suitor.

To quote a mediocre rap song, he get it from his mama

I guess I didn't read the same thing in his comments. Not saying that he's not going to sign in the offseason, but I could see him back for his senior year. It's not uncommon to hear players talk about the Ralph and their experiences.

With the win tonight, UND stays at #22 in the PWR and SCSU actually moves up a spot to #5.
But, more importantly now, UND moves into a 3-way tie with UMD and CC in the NCHC standings for 5th (UMD game with DU still going on right now, so that could change).

DU is finishing off UMD as I type this.

So, you're saying if a player plays in the NHL for 10 years, that voids getting a degree? They'll never get anywhere in life without the degree? Very confusing. There's hundreds of examples of players playing the NHL for a large career and then being successful in life.

@stoneySIOUX is a 100 percent correct: when I came to UND, I lived in Swanson Hall until I met my wife, and my resident hall RA introduced me to Perry Berezan who had returned to UND to finish his degree after his NHL career. From Wikipedia

After leaving hockey, Berezan returned to the University of North Dakota where he earned a commerce degree and became a financial planner and investment advisor.[

The only issue with that logic is that Costantini has been 4th line or extra skater most of the season, while Hain has been getting 1st/2nd line minutes plus PP time.
If you put Matteo in those roles, does he excel more?  Maybe, maybe not.

He was given top-six minutes at the beginning of the season and didn't produce. If you go back and look at the line sheet he had his chance.

Fair point. I'd argue Costantini has made mistakes a sophomore shouldn't make in his opportunities, as well. If all things are equal (production, mistakes, general on ice performance) I'd defer to the upperclassman and I think most coaches would. Would replacing Hain for Costantini night in and night out make us better? Again, I'm speaking from a "win now" approach which was the expectation coming into the season. As far as I'm concerned, Hain's body of work in his career has me favoring him for this season. Long term, Costantini has a higher ceiling, IMO, but it's win now mode and he hasn't performed in his expected role.

Nope Costantini has been invisibile for most of the season. He's had multiple opportunities to prove himself and hasn't.

    Don’t question goon and stoney

they are ok with status quo

Must be a slow day at the Credit Union?

No one is happy with the status quo but let’s be reasonable. We had fans that want to fire Hakstol because he hadn’t NCAA title. Last time I checked, Hak was coaching in the NHL.

Then, we have coach that wins one and fans are still calling for his head. Is anyone in the fan base  ever going to be happy?  Last time UND wasn’t at the Frozen Faceoff,  I had a media member from a newspaper ask me if the fans really wanted Berry fired. This is worse than the Montreal Canadian fan base.

Since 2016 3 league titles 0 NCAA titles and soon to be 3 non-playoff appearances.

Duluth in that same span 0 league and 2 NCAA and hasn't missed a tournament.

Denver 2 league titles, 2 NCAA and has missed 1 tournament.

It's the green banners that really matter and this will be the third time in his tenure they won't even get to play for one.

What are you suggesting? The University fire Brad Berry who has a .643 winning percentage? He has won four regular season titles, in the toughest conference in college hockey. He did win one more NCAA title than his predecessor.  First, he has three more years on his contract. Who's stepping up on the expensive buyout? Maybe someone from the Good Ole Boys can afford to write a big check. Who's going to replace him? Do hire a new coach from outside the UND family, or someone inside the family? That's a big question right there? Who do we hire to replace him? Can you imagine an athletic director firing a coach with his record. Is anyone happy with this season? No not at all. It's been tough to stomach. It's been an F'N dumpster fire. However, I am not going to let it ruin the rest of my year or ruminate on it all offseason. The players know this is not UND hockey. Like @stoneySIOUX mentioned could lose a lot of those in coming high-end recruits, if our AD was as jumpy as some our fans and just fired Berry. I see people comparing Berry to Scott Sandelin, his record is 440-363-95 .542 winning percentage his team have missed the NCAA playoff 11 times in his 23-year stint. He didn't win his first NCAA title till his 11th season behind the bench. Based on those standards were seeing applied to coach Berry, Scott would've been fired a long time before he won an NCAA championship. In the 11 seasons leading up to his team winning an NCAA championship, Sandelin had 164-187-46 (.471) record. He would've been run out of town on a rail.

The first few years I lived here, I thought the same.  Now the summers seem to drag on for so long and the triple digit temps every day just drain you.
I've already told my wife that we're gonna retire somewhere with actual seasons again.

I ask my wife once a month if can move to Texas. She’s says no every time.

Are we still a Top 5 destination for recruits, that I think has become debatable?

One thing to remember, while UND has the best facilities in all of college hockey, destination is still a concern for some recruits. Not everyone is going want to live in Grand Forks or in this climate. Not dissing Grand Forks, but the weather is absolutely horrendous.
