Speaking of things that make me smile, I re-read Bruce Ciskie's pre-season predictions and it seems he underestimated the UND hockey team. I know it's early, but the eight D-men in question have performed pretty well against a really tough schedule.

Serious then maybe? But how did the guy make contact with him (elbow, head shot, etc?) that would make it a punishable hit?
I've watched the video a few times s/t @Blackheart how does this go uncalled? This is at least a two-minute boarding call.

So, with that said, things are not looking good in Oxford. Hopefully UND will remember that loss to them at home last fall as that loss contributed to UND not making the tournament.
It might be an interesting weekend, with Ludvig Persson getting to play against his former team.

Tony annesse is very intriguing
Wouldn't UND fans want to have a legit Division I FCS coach that is a proven winner? I know it would never happen, but Montana State's head coach is from 25 miles down the road. He'd look really good on the UND sideline. I know it will never happen because he's an Ex-Bison Player.

Take off the tinted glasses. He hasn’t been very good to start the year.
In Gaber's defense, he's had players draped all over him. Go back and watch Jammer's goal. He was tackled in front of the net.

They publicly announce Tuesday; pretty sure the decisions and notifications are done by close of business Monday.
a few years back I was told Tuesday, but that very well might be the case. I suppose if there's an appeal they have an extra day to look at the evidence and make their final decision.

Pretty sure the hit on Schmaltz will get a look on Monday.
Actually, I think they do that on Tuesday, but I thought it was pretty dirty.

Questionable … OK …
Duluth was in chippy mode and it was uncalled most of the night. Like I said, Duluth finally gave something that could be looked at by the league office; the game officials had to act and had to take back control. The major was justified and was also an accumulation of uncalled items.
That’s Duluth’s game: chippy. They want you to react and lose focus. They are trying to draw power play chances. Blake did react and give a PP and frankly it could not have happened at a better time. <— Say what? … It happened at the end of a period where the team could be refocused on (a) what not to pay attention to, and (b) what does require their attention.
After the shot to Johannes’ jaw (the major) if that wouldn’t have been called it could’ve gone ugly* … right to UMD’s plan.
* I fear to see what 24 y/o men like 13 and 28 would do to 18 y/o boys.
I thought that Nathan Wieler and Ryan Hersey had rough weekend, there were a bunch of high hits by the Bulldogs that went uncalled. I think those two need to have unpaid vacation next weekend. They were horrendous. I like to see another look of the hit on Schmaltz, that looked pretty questionable. Of course, there was no replay.

Horrible play calling the entire day. Solid effort by the d. So disappointing
Yet, some fans want him to be the head coach.

I think we need a coaching change at the top. The offense is very +predictable. UND hasn't scored a touchdown on offense today. That's unacceptable. The defense is okay, nothing great.

It's gotten a little dirty tonight. UMD is running around. These announcers are horrible. The lady between the benches just slipped up and said S#!t.

I was listening to the Bulldog Hockey Podcast, and Luke Bast was on and said this.
Quote"I was actually on the phone with my dad, a couple of days ago, and he was talking to a fellow father from North Dakota," Bast said. The fellow UND hockey father said, hey, 'what would you rather do? Fly on a chartered plane and not play or get left behind? Or would you rather fly commercial and play every night?'
Bast continued, "That was interesting. I think you take the commercial flight and you play every night. I think you'll have a lot more fun, and your college experience will be a hell of a lot better than staying home; rather than flying on a chartered plane.

My question is, did the plan change at the 12th hour? Everything I heard about this was that Spicer (and his crew) and the coaching staff had different ideas of the actual plan. This is all moot. It is a bummer if there was a genuine misunderstanding. It would be worse if the plan completely changed without Spicer knowing it. My guess is there was probably a middle answer on all of this.
I heard the same thing, coach Berry wanted him to play another year of juniors, he said no. UND told him good luck.
-
Good for Luke Bast, but who would he be playing over this season?
Quote“You have to outwork them,” said Bast, who has two goals nine games into his career as a Bulldog. “At the end of the day, are we going to win with all our talent? Are we going to out-skill teams? Probably not, which is fine. The thing that we got is we got a group that's willing to win and do the little things that are going to win. You see it in the long run. Past teams here, you look at the roster, and you might not think that they're going to be great or whatever, but they come together as a group and they do what it takes to win.”

Whenever I see one of these lists, I'm reminded of Chris Dilks who used to have some pretty good write ups on prospects, but usually butted heads with North Dakota fans on a variety of issues. Whatever happened to that guy? I haven't seen anything from him in ages, and his old Twitter account seems relatively dormant.
I talked to one of the guys that wrote for that site, and after it was shuttered, he said Chris kind of disappeared. He doesn't post on social media, either.

Dabo.......I mean Bubba doesn't get beat down like that.
Hey @Oxbow6 I'd like to be proven wrong and eat my words, but I've seen nothing that indicates that this team has the mental makeup to go on the road and win against a top-10 team.

James is our best 200 foot forward and has been since the end of last season. Hopefully he can find his scoring touch but his speed is a problem for most teams and he is phenominal on the penalty kill.
He's one of our best penalty killers because so fast and is pressuring all of the time.

Since UND beat NDSU, I haven't seen a complete 60-minute game. Albeit, they've suffered some injuries to key players. I am thinking 47-10 SD.

I wasn't impressed with him at all. If there's a weak link on their team, it's their goalie.

Yeah, but we're spoiled here. Midco has an outstanding production for UND hockey. It's NHL quality, honestly.
I think that all of UND's sports broadcasts are really good. Spoiled is right.

Did anyone else have issues with the volume of the BU play by play guys? It seemed muted but whenever they’d go to commercial the volume was really loud. (We’d gotten the ESPN+ subscription)
Yes, it was a brutal production. Good picture, but the PxP announcers needed to turn up their mics. They were absolutely brutal, too.
