Kleven will probably get more than a game.

If the league had any nerve it would sit Polin for the first hit on Kleven.

I predict that they will not. This is the NCHC we're talking about. Polin should sit, but they don't have the stones to do it.

When is it going to be announced that 25 is suspended tonight by the NCHC?

Looking at this video, I am thinking we won't see Tyler Kleven tonight. The video doesn't show Kleven. being boarded prior to the cross-check to the face area.

Here's the hit prior in question.

Even when Hellsten plays pretty well, it was still 0-2 when the shots were 21-13.  The team has had the worst goaltending in the country.  People can argue all day long about who should be on the fourth line, but by and large the team has played well enough to win most games and would be in the top ten with even average goaltending.

As for last night, on top of just ok goaltending, they couldn't buy a goal despite generating a lot.  Just off the top of my head I can think of glorious chances that were as good as anything WMU had that were missed by Hain x2, Senden, McL, Blake, James.  They've gotten worked a few times this year, where the other team has the puck all night, but not for a while.

I simply don't understand people wanting to burn the whole thing down when the save percentage tells us what the problem is.  Not that everything else is perfect, but it's been pretty solid.

I've been a UND fan since 1993 when I came to UND. This is by far the worst goaltending tandem that UND has had during that time span.

Really absolutely no reason this link needs to be in the forumn...

No reason to drag her or their day into this cesspool.

I'd rethink the post and probably find that a deletion would be best.

I would agree with you, does it really matter to anyone that he's getting married? I am happy for him.

Here are a few stats to get us prepped for tonight's game:

    • UND points leaders: Blake (22), Gaber (20), Jandric (20). No one else has more than eleven.
    • UND goals leaders: Gaber (11), Blake (9), Hain (8), Caulfield (7).
    • UND +/- leaders: Jandric (+5), Caulfield (+5), Sidorski (+4).
    • UND +/- laggards: Frisch (-8), Moore (-8), McLaughlin (-7).

    UND goalie stats:

    • DeRidder: 3.10 GAA, .882 SV%.
    • Hellsten: 2.73 GAA, .871 SV%.
    • combined: 3.07 GAA (40th nationally), .873 SV% (60th nationally*).

*Not counting Stonehill, which has only played one game, UND is tied with Air Force for the nation's worst save percentage. What I didn't realize is who is leading the nation in save percentage: Saint Cloud State University.

    National Statistics

UND is 11th in goal scoring.
UND is tied for 42nd in goals against,
UND is tied for 60th in save percentage.
UND’s power play is ranked 2nd nationally.
UND’s penalty kill is ranked 13th nationally.

Sadly, I am not sure there is such a thing as a "clear travel" in basketball anymore. The average college basketball game probably has 35-40 uncalled clear travels a game.

That was one of my questions after watching the NDSU and UND game, the refs let it go or don't call it very often, but this is from the perspective of a former Football players that doesn't always understand basketball rules. I guess, I am not the only one that has seen this recently.

I'm interested in your take on this question. Not calling out any player by name, but do you think there is anyone who is currently considered a lock to be in the lineup that you question why they are? To me, there are a handful of "locks" that I don't necessarily see the difference between them are others that are in / out of the lineup.

That's a fair question: I’ve seen people say that person should be playing because their drafted. I disagree with the concept. For example Kunz and Costantini were mentioned. From what I seen neither have given the coaching staff a reason to keep them in the lineup. I honestly, can't understand why Matteo (sp) isn't producing. He had 20 points his freshmen year. I was ready to put him on a milk carton. It's about numbers and winning hockey games.

Berry mentioned the players that were drafted not playing. My question is what have those drafted players done to earn a spot in the lineup? They’ve been invisible on the score sheets this year. Constantini, has what, two points? And a in drafted player like Ness has more goals do we sit him over the others?

I think people were more referencing this article and the quotes in it:

    https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/eight-takeaways-from-unds-exhibition-victory-over-the-u-s-under-18-team

Where he said this about OwenMc:

We don't normally see Berry single out specific players for issues like that.

Do you know for a fact he doesn’t call players out? Berry chooses not to air his grievances in public. The rough conversations happen out of the public eye. I’ve got that from players I interviewed in the past. I think it’s a smart tactic. Would like him to blast his players in public. That doesn’t really work with todays players. It’s a whole new world compared the old days when the Gen-X-ers played. What worked for us doesn’t necessarily work today.

Need to drink the koolaid to keep the press pass.

Really, it's not about drinking the kool aid. Yuck, I hate Kool Aid. Anyone, including me can read a schedule and a post-game report. Did you look who was coaching the other team? Frankly, there are a lot more pressing things in life than freaking out about a hockey game from period-to-period. I am much more upset with the current state of the Men's Basketball team than I am about the hockey team. I am not sure what you want the media to do? No one in the local media is throwing up softballs for them to hit.

    Ok.

Apparently, he's not familiar with Lindenwood. They're not an easy, or a give me win. They played the top teams pretty tough. I predict they're going to be good sooner than later. They played Denver, Michigan, Minnesota, and now North Dakota very close in a game or two. They did this during their first year and playing only two games at home. Their goalie Trent Burnham stood on his head all weekend long. It could've been a lot worse for them without him. One could argue that the transfer portal gives teams a better chance of improving and evening the playing field.

I'm betting the Swede is in again tonight.

Not going to lie, if I'm UND I bring in another goalie besides Hedquist next year.  Anybody confident in the Swede, Hedquist, and Cheesy???  I dive in the portal again and find a guy with some experience.  Have to work around scholarship dollars obviously.

My Prediction: We will probably see another portal pickup and probably another goaltender recruit. I haven't seen anything that suggest that Hellstein is a Division I goalie. Also, Hedquist's numbers are not good. He's 11-10-1, 3.24 goals against average and .901 save percentage. UND is ranked 61st in SV%
