Although a couple of NCHC teams backed the idea of moving under the Summit's umbrella, others balked and it does not appear there's a large enough consensus to make such a move at this time.

jeez i wonder which schools want to do this (und, omaha, and denver (and st thomas)...and which ones don't ....CC, Miami, Western, duluth, and scsu?

What makes you think that UND wants to fall under the Summit?

    No it's not.

CC is turning the corner. Mayotte had done a lot already with Haviland’s kids. They did advance to the championship game of the Frozen Faceoff and have shown a compete level they didn’t under the previous leadership. I don’t see CC going anywhere, not to mention, DU would not support getting rid of them either.

I think Mr. @Godsmack has a very good point, CC is headed in the right decision, their coach Mayotte is legit. I think CC will continue to be a valued member of our conference. Seriously! The conference isn't going to boot them out. Fenton is running the NCHC anymore. Doesn't sound like the NCHC schools are going to follow under the Summit.

but you have to look at thru the eyes of a commish (fenton)...what does a d3 school like CC bring to the conference in terms of $, competition, and or eyeballs?  CC really doesn't do anything for summit hockey as an affiliate.

cc hasn't been relevant for ...........decades?

Seriously, there's not reason to have this discussion, the NCHC isn't going to add Airforce. If the NCHC added Air Force Acadamy to the conference it would water down the league.

DU and UND aren't going to allow the NCHC to be watered down into an afterthought sport in a plucky low level also-ran league like the summit is in the grand scheme.

It's not happening, foolish to take it seriously.

    FYP, and I agree.

who would you rather have as a conference member (remember you can still play OTHER schools OOC) ......as a fan and as a commish

    Arizona State  or UM-Duluth

    Air Force or CC

    Bowling Green or SCSU

    pretty easy for me....

Air force isn't joining the NCHC, unless the NCHC added Army. Plus, they'd have a very hard time competing on a year-to-year basis in the NCHC.

Different sport with a bit of a back story, but Big Sky waived the exit fee for UND.  In fact, they continued to help with scheduling for two/three years in football as UND moved to the Summit League.  So, there can be a goodwill angle to things.  If Miami wants out and they conduct business in a forthright manner I see no problem with it.  The NCHC has plenty of options to backfill if needed.  It could be a win/win situation and could be a model for hockey going forward.  We all want college hockey to grow with growth comes conference movement why make it painful.  Again, if a school doesn't notify the conference and goes about it the wrong way.  The exit fee applies and a boot to the ass on the way out is fine with me.

I'd like to know why everyone is so willing to just let them go. Yes, it's apparent they add nothing to this conference other than teams having about a 75% winning percentage against them. If the NCHC does this for them, then it makes it easier for other teams to just pack up and leave. When the NCHC first started they the teams in the conference were asked if they were committed to this conference. Everyone said yes, I was told that everyone agreed to the exit fee. If they want out they pay. Also, I keep hearing how ASU is going to a great add to the conference. If we have a sharp commissioner, I am not sure we do, then she needs to relay to ASU, your one of eight or nine teams, you're not calling the shots. You will be like everyone else or we're not adding you. The NCHC holds all of the cards.

I assume Hedquist was injured last game, as he had saved 28 of 28 shots, and their other goalie finished the game stopping 10 of 11.  The other goalie is also playing tonight.

    Hopefully, it’s not serious.

They are a drag on the league. If they want out (and I believe some people at Miami want that), I say we make it as painless as possible. Schools like Arizona State and St. Thomas have way more to offer than Miami has ever had or ever will have.

What exactly does St. Thomas have to offer? You might have a hard time convincing seven athletic directors that we have to let them Miami walk and add ASU. I am not against letting Miami go but with an exit fee. Before the NCHC just adds ASU, the league needs to have a sit down with them and remind them, that they're not going to call the shots because they're a Power Five school. I also think the league needs to improve their overpriced streaming service. There's all kinds of things that the league needs to look at.

Not really. He crossed checked Kaprizov in front of the Dallas net. It was completely unnecessary. Foligno had a talk with him. He’s becoming public enemy number 1

He was targeting Kaprizov and one of the Wild should have rearranged Suter's face. It was dirty. He was like this when he was at Minnesota and wouldn't fight when he was challenged. He'd turtle and hide behind the refs.

Also, they haven’t won the big game despite some on here thinking it was a foregone conclusion either MN or Michigan already had the title in hand.

Since realignment, the B1G is still 0-10; they still haven't won an NCAA Championship. No, the sky isn't falling.
