That's really a dumb comment. You do realize that UND made the conference tourney 16 years in a row. That's currently the longest active streak. They made the NCAA tourney 15 years in a row. They barely missed the NCAA tourney this year. Taking a page from gfhockey's book. Simple question; just out of curiosity, what has SCSU ever accomplished? SCSU really is a school that screams mediocrity. How many titles have they won? Let me help you --> zero. I find it amusing that after one decent season where you were bounced by the 16 seed, you come onto a UND fan message board to beat your chest. I wonder how long before the UMN fans tire of Motzko and the early exits from the NCAA tourney? How long before the powerful alumni get antsy with Motzko?

This comment on the link caught my attention. The enrollment at GWU was over 27,000 last year with students from 117 countries. How did 200 people get so much power? How did they get the moral authority to say this was a bad choice for a mascot? If the Pope complained or Franklin Graham had complained, they would have told them to buzz off. What did they do in life to rate such a high admiration that their opinion carries that much weight? There are probably 200 people out of 27,000 who thinks that there should be no sex before marriage.

Wow, I am pretty sure that Jayson has never told me what we can and can't support or write. I thought we addressed that when Rob Port made that silly claim. Although, we did joke about it a few times. Hey, what do you want me to write about? When do we meet for talking points? No! It's not like that. Also, UND isn't like that. No other official from UND has ever briefed the press/media types to tell them what they can or cannot write or support. They only asked that writers refrain from calling UND the Fighting Sioux, because, it's not their official name anymore. This is going on six years. Look around, more and more the new logo is popping up everywhere. Go to the grade schools around town. You see the Hawks logo everywhere. I am a big supporter of the 1A.

I would recommend dropping the Fighting part of the nickname. Because from the cheers I've heard at basketball games are go hawks go.

What did you want the school to do? UND has moved on the from the Fighting Sioux nickname. The other UND sports have accepted and embraced the new logo. The men's hockey team and many fans haven't. Each individual fan has their own reason for or against. That said. Do you expect the school to not promote the new logo and hide from it? Seriously, the school needs to sell merchandise. It's part of a marketing plan. Notice you're seeing more and more of it. Drive downtown in Grand Forks, the logo is on the light poles. Whether we like it or not. The Sioux nickname isn't coming back, ever. It died on the hill of political correctness. I am just stating facts. Selecting a name for a mascot is part of the process. I decided to embrace the history of the old logo and I've purchased some new stuff.
