Sprig I am going to go out on a limb and pick BU and MSU as my teams for the NCAA title. For some reason I don't like any of the WCHA teams this season. Denver is falling like a rock (so we might be playing them at the right time), UofM has peaked and can't get two consistent game back to back. I think UND will get a lot of these teams at the right time., C.C. is good but I think if UND played them in the WCHA tourney I think we would beat them this time. SCSU they are really falling too. I think some of these team peaked to fast. I just hope UND can get to the WCHA finals...

If you look at teams that moved into new building you will see that it takes time to get used to the new building. Check out the NHL, Montreal, Boston, Chicago, LA all moved into new building in the last 1-10 years all had some degree of trouble with their new buildings. The Boston Bruins is the most notable. I think also Minnesota had trouble when they first moved into the new maryucci... It is just part of the transition period. I am sure there will be a few quirkes to the new building that will take some time to fix. When I sad down in the lower bowl last series I didn't realize how on top of the ice the lower seats are...

Heck I was booing what a terrible display during the MSU series and I was booing the play the goaltender. Andy should step aside with grace he has no leg to stand on to make a bunch of demands. Taz I don't think you will see Andy play anymore, maybe one clean up/back up game. I really feel Josh and Jake are better psyically and mentally. No Really its crunch time and UND can't afford to give points away, because we wan't to protect a players ego. Let him sit on the bench. Blais did it to Toby and to Schwitzer to a certain degree. Blais is probably going to give his team that speech if we don't win almost every game everynight were done, stick a fork in us. (From what I hear Blaiser is an emotional coach and the players get used to this intense coaching) Really if we have to play UofM or UofW in the first round we probably won't go to the final five. UND can't afford to give players that haven't met the mustard to get one more charity start. Andy has not proved he deserved to play this season he had 13 starts with a high GAA 5-7 and poor record. What else do you guys want?

It looks more and more like UND could be playing the Dirty Badgers as a first round opponent in Madison. If UAA can't beat the dirty Badger tonight they will only be able to get probably 6th place finish at best... I think the Sioux would welcome the opportunity.

How can employers be like that work their employees from sun up to sun down. I am sure coming back to the Midwest must have been a shock after experiencing some nice weather... Oh well maybe this make your day UMD just beat UofM 5-2. Sad thing is they can't blame Hauser tonight.

Sprig did you get a chance to play golf in AZ?

Does that mean that the students cant throw dead frozen Gophers on the ice too?

Yikes, Holly Cow that is a lot of points in any league. If I was coach I know where I would put this kid. I would put him with Bochenski and Bayda. I think this line could put the Heatly, Reino, Hukalo line of two years ago to shame. I smell a championship comming soon...

Personally I think the SCCC president is a Bafoon, a president a second rate University with a horrible track record of its own on racial issues. Second this clown should worry about the lawsuit on his own campus now. Who the #### does this guy think he is? Personally I very much doubt the NCAA is going to come out and say ok college and universities that use Indian Monikers you now have to change your logos, no really. I mean what are they going to say ok big time Universities which includes the likes of The University of Illinois (ILLINI), Florida State University (SEMINOLES), San Degio State University (AZTECS) , Utah State (UETS), CMU (CHIPPIWAS) and lastly UND (FIGHTING SIOUX). What grounds do they have? This is just PC hand wringing and idiocy...

I just hope the Golden Gophers play Hauser in one of the games in Grand Forks. Hauser, well he looked like the ussual Hauser, in other words, He looked horrible on Friday night. With Hauser in net the Gophers are very beatable, with Weber in net (which UND is 0-2 against) they look tougher. The Golden Gophers dismantled Denver last night, and old fashion @$$ whooping. Actually after watching the Denver Denver Pioneers (In other words they are a cleaner, more talent version of Wisconsin) they are definately a clutch and grab, clogg up the neutral zone, hang on to the shooter down low and hope you don't get called for a penalty type scheme. Denver is also a team that goes into a defensive shell, they are good at it too. They get great goaltending. However, they are beatable as well. Swarm the net... We all know what a one game playoff can do, goalie has a bad night it is all done for the year and I suppect that could be their demise this season. Denver, really didn't impress me that is past weekend. Denver looked a lot like MSU Spartan team of last year. We all know what skating teams like UND can do to teams like the Sparts. Lots of skating in the neutral zone. But I see the resembulance since denvers coach (no way in He!! I can spell his name) was a Ron Mason assistant for many years, according to Village Idiot Doug Woog.

Siembida has an ankle injury, it sounds like someone rolled over it, hopefully it won't keep him out long. Connelly according to Blaiser has been hurt most of the year and he is going to have surgury right after the season ends. Same with James Massen, who has a bad shoulder as well. I know that Tyler is just starting to feel better after his mugging in Minnesota... Like most teams they are held together with tape and ice. Just imagine if this was an NHL team, ouch they must have more ailments. They go trough 80 games of this an not the ussual 35-40 games college go through. Actually I think UND has done pretty well with injuries now if we can start pulling down some wins...

Dagies so are you saying that Marvin is like a Commodore (rough and tumble) type player, if that is true that would be great. We will need it if we keep getting itty bitty goalies too. I liked the fact that when Commodore played people were afraid to go tip toeing around UND end, if you took liberties with the more skilled players UND's Commodore was going to smoke you later and he was one tough SOB. I think Hale is good but he is not Mike. I would love to see that fear returned next season. Sounds like Andy Schnider could also fill that void. I think last Year not having Commie for a 4th year hurt us in the toughness department... I hope it returns. I mean toughness not Demarchi gooniery...

I got these from the Hockey_L interesting. I think SCSU is a little high they didn't figure in the Dahl Factor...I got to Think MSU is the favorite this season what does everyone else think, I know the Gophers are good but I can't see them winning it all with Hauser not with his five hole problem... Odds to Win 02 College Hockey Tournament at Bally's. The current odds, as of 1/17/02 are: Minnesota - 5/2 St. Cloud State - 7/2 Denver - 5/1 Boston U - 5/1 Michigan State - 6/1 Boston College - 7/1 New Hampshire - 8/1 Michigan - 8/1 North Dakota - 10/1 Colorado College - 12/1 U Mass-Lowell - 12/1 Northern Michigan - 12/1 Field (All Others) - 18/1 Maine - 20/1 Harvard - 20/1 Nebraska-Omaha - 22/1 Wisconsin - 25/1 Dartmouth - 30/1 Ohio State - 30/1 Clarkson - 40/1 Providence - 50/1 Rensselear 60/1 UM-Duluth - 60/1 Alaska-Fairbanks - 75/1 St. Lawrence - 100/1

Well on the Coaches show tonight I guess Blaiser and Sertich will be a taped interview. Sertich was supposed to call the TIM and SWIG show this moring but never actually got around to it. I guess UND hockey is leaving today/tonight after practice. I will still listen though. Thinking of coaches show Gene Robuck was pretty tough on his women last week, the team has only lost like 3 or 4 times this year and he was talking as if they Sioux women were a botom tier team. If we lay an egg in the games this week it is going to be a tough two weeks of practice. I really think if UND plays the level they are capable of playing it should be a sweep. The Sioux still need to forcheck and crash the net, because you know a Mike Sertich coached team is going to play rough and run the net...

Love the New Changes Jim, this is a nice site... Congrats on the good work.

Hey Scott_M is his name Eagledummy/Chris? Just woundering...

I hope UND should be able to sweep if they keep playing the way the have. I think anything less than a sweep would be not good. I also don't want to see too much pressure put on the boys but this is not asking the impossible...
-
I sure as heck hope they don't go 2-8, I am hoping for an 8-2 finish, but would take anything over .500

This could be what the doctor ordered. I think we could get back on the winning track with sweeping 4 games against MTU, Sweeping two games with Duluth that would make 6 wins, and then, we split with Denver and take three from the Gophers. I think we can do it... That would put us at about 18-15-2 I know that is sounding pretty condifident but why not if we loose any of the games to Duluth and MTU that is not exceptable... Kuchinia (sp) my first question I would ask you is who would have these two guys replaced in the line up. I say no one of the current crop of freshmen. Throw into that mix Palmo who is I think a better player with the same kind of heart is fighting to stay in the line up too... I don't think Blaiser regrets this season, he is still one of the best coach in hockey. I think if we would have had Roach and Lundbohm we would have been a lot better than we are now. How do you over come that you don't... Look at our schedule this season its been tough next season we get a gopher like schedule with Canisus, Niagra, and a patsy X-mas tourney with BSU, Harvard and Yale... Easier. So we will be able to pad our schedule with some wins...

One game at a time I guess. I am just thankful we have like what 6-8 games left at home this year. You never know Blais seems to pull a rabbit out of the hat from time to time. I has been fun to see some of the young kids progress as the season has gone along. Brandon Bochenski has gotten better his skating is a #### of a lot better, and he has the hands of a sniper. James Massen is a horse with talent, and he has shown some great improvement in his game, James wasn't even going to be here this year but with Lundbohm leaving he decided to come a year earlier. I would just like Massen to use his energy at more productive things like plowing through defenders instead of slowing up He is 220 pounds. Matt Jones is awesome, Nick Fuher has great puck handling skills, I think we will see him at the next level. Andy Schnider is and animal, one of those guys you don't want to go into the corner with, Andy is tough as nails, a prototypical UND defensemen. Am I possitive during a somewhat depressive season you betcha :) This season has have been a glimsp of the future, the teams around the league will not want to play us next season. I can't wait to see us wipe the smirks off the faces of the SCSU players when we clobber them next season in the Ralph. I think next season is surely will be pay back season. In Goal, Jake Brandt has made big strides and I a sure he and Josh Siembida will be a great one two punch. (Edited by Goon at 9:06 pm on Jan. 20, 2002)

Scott, I have excepted the fact that this is not the year, but we will be back. I am not sure we can even get home ice, I will except it. One year will do a lot for these kids. I think the rough early start by getting killed in St Clown hurt then getting swept by bad teams like MSU and Wisconsin hurt and think maybe too much pressure has been put on the Sioux to be a upper division team. With the addition of Parise and Genoway and a season Sophmore class we probably will be back in the hunt next season. With three good goalies next season could be a break out year. The defense is starting to look better and better. Jake looked real good in net last night, and it appears that he is gaining a lot of confidence, Josh look ok but he needs to no flop around so much. I am sure the coaches can get these guys to correct a few of the rookies mistakes we will be fine... James Massen if he plays smart is going to be a good player... Massen reminds me of Cam Neely a bit, now if we can get him to play mean but smart...
