The main floor is painted on (ALMOST) at center court --- they'll tape on temporary lines if th the other two temporary courts are needed....they're working on a new BESC logo to go on the center court...but it will be nice. The floor is a "top of the line" cushioned underlayment-maple top floor...it has some give and will provide a nice feel for the players....they'll WANT to play here instead of the main arena...having seen it firsthand - I'M KEYED!!

it is small by seating standards but remember - it was designed as a practice facility first a playing venue second...they'll play the "high attendance" games in the Ralph. The main architect told me (personally) they will be be playing most of their games in the Betty because, frankly, how many BB games draw over 4000 and they'd prefer the cozier atmosphere of the Betty over the vacous atmosphere (3500 people in an 11,000 seat arena!!) in the Ralph.... ps - do I get bonus points for using a big word like "vacous??"

I can personnally attest from having been it there...it is awesome!! HUGE permanent wood floor that will really give us a flooring option we don't currently have in GF....the rich keep getting RICHER....while the Bison keep pretending they're better...

I was forced (by the point of a gun..or purse...I can't remember) to attend the Fargo Street Fair today....anyone catch the story on TV? ps - I bought some AWESOME LAWN ORNAMENTS THOUGH!!!! but I have to say the FSF is getting ridiculous in size....felt like I walked to Dilworth before I got to the end of it....they had good foot-long corndogs though....mmmmm....foot long corndogs.....

just remember...UND womens basketball used to be a joke too...but for a few years there (with a few NC's under their belts) THEY were the draw when the mens team sucked. Womens hockey is what it is...either accept it or go watch reruns of Beavis and Butthead (both can be equally entertaining at times)...but their addition to the WWCHA does add some intrigue and interest...I say lets give them a shot!! You can always go watch volleyball in the Betty if you don't like it...(the shorts are tighter there!!)

Into the Betty today...it's looking great!! The permanent wood floor is in....250' x 100' (room for 4 full size BB courts) and it's top notch!!! rubber cushioned underlayment with a hard maple top...still some finishing to be done but it's VERY NICE!!! PLUS - an anon alum ponied up some $$$ to have the same leather seats in the Ralph put into the fixed seating areas of the Betty!!! WHOO HOO I bumped into Mike Kuntz doing a tour with a guy from KVLY and it's supposed to be on their friday newcasts sometime...opening day is Aug. 24th but the VB team will be practicing in there (hopefully) by mid-august...

BINGO...that's the TB we all know and NOT love...saw him at the Hak Press Conference...walking around in the background acting all smug...like nothing was going on...far from "THE INCIDENT" where he badmouthed ES and TC then they "found out"...and he got called into a "come to Jesus" meeting. Talked to Johnson at the Sioux-per-swing at the GFCC monday...he's interested...VERY interested!! (PLUS HE LOOKS LIKE JEFF PANZERS DAD!!!) My guess is Steve will get it - with sincere regrets to Lincoln...but Steve has his career to think about too and he can't stay in the USHL forever. Other WCHA jobs will open up over the next few years (perhaps even at UND) and Steve needs to get his foot in the college door just like Dean was looking to get his foot in the NHL door before "it's too late" PS - Eades doesn't see to fit the "chemistry" of coaching a team like the Sioux. He's a "live or die -- I"M THE HEAD COACH" type of guy....I can't see him being the 2nd assistant on a college team when he could go the USHL and run the show from the get go....

if DII lowers the scholly limit - even to 30 - UND is gone baby gone!! This has been made clear...

HELLO...Crookston moved to DII 4 or 5 years ago - starting the 4 funded scholarshps. We've proven over the last several years we've played them...they don't belong in DII but have a place based on name. Any Dac10 or otherwise schools that stake a claim in DII will have to put up or shut up (or be relegated to the jr. varsity section of Division II if they can't produce) Unfortunately...that's what DII is becoming....a division of the HAVES and the HAVE NOTS (as is NOT Enough scholarships) They will lay in the bed that they make....and it certainly doesn't mean UND will be scheduling Mary ANYTIME SOON! After outscoring UMC 150+ to, oh, i'll be genorous...3 in the last several years...UND has given Crookston the BOOT and good riddance I would say. If they up their scholly's and improve their program in the future, we might reconsider but for now, it's a guarenteed butt-kicking that does no one any good!!
