fightingsioux4life replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Men's Hockey
After last weekend's debacle, I was looking for them to come out ready to get after it and they did. Have to keep that up from here on out.- 125 replies

Still sore about Duluth losing last night? -
Chaves is too busy looking for a seat close to the restrooms.

Having watched the 1990's teams at the old Hyslop, it is truly sad to see what this program has devolved into. #butparity

Honestly, there is no other fan base in collegiate sports that bitches about single elimination tournament formats and bad luck more than ours. That used to be a trademark of the Gopher fan base and we used to call them out on it. I guess if you live long enough, you'll see all sorts of things. -

But according to Dave Starman, the team with the most talent wins 95% of the time. Oops, I'm not supposed to talk like that here. -
Ryan Duncan skates "One More Shift". Then it's down to business as we look to secure a regular season sweep of the Bulldogs......along with the obligatory TCoS. Puck drops at 6:07pm. Go Sioux (and Western Michigan and Miami)

I thought the MSHSL changed the rules so kids had to sit out a year after transferring? -
You can only count on yourself. Just keep winning and it won't matter what anyone else does or doesn't do.

In that case, I suggest UND start working to hook up athletes with businesses to get some NIL deals done.

Can't say I blame him. This forum would be on fire if the results had been reversed.

After last weekend's debacle, seeing us come out with a purpose was encouraging. Going to be tougher tomorrow night. Need to come out the same.

Amen on all four points.

Hopefully he's not out for the year. We will need him for the playoffs if we want to make a run.

Northern Michigan and Lake Superior State University have been irrelevant for three decades. They used to be national powers. It can happen to anyone. Even UND. -

Those were Transfer Portal additions. When I hear "backfilling with over-agers", I think of settling for kids who have aged out of junior hockey and are still available because they aren't considered top recruits. That would mean fewer postseason trips and even fewer Frozen Four appearances. That is what we cannot afford to have happen. -

I don't bring it up because I believe it. I think it's hogwash. I bring it up ALL THE TIME because @scpa0305 keeps insisting that the B1G and the big media market schools out east are going to rule the College Hockey world and that UND and other similar programs will have to settle for "backfilling with over-agers" (that's a direct quote from sometime last season, I am not making it up). Go tell @scpa0305 that he is wrong, because I think he is too. I keep bringing it up because that erroneous notion needs to be challenged whenever and wherever it is propagated. Anyway, you make good points. I am enjoying this season, especially after the past few seasons, which were not as much fun to watch. @krustyklown is right, I will not bring up the topic of championships as long as UND is alive in the postseason. -

There are no easy games in the postseason. All the teams are good, that's why they are in the playoffs. -

One can enjoy the experience and have certain expectations simultaneously. This season is way more fun than last season. -

"Parity" didn't stop two fellow NCHC schools from winning two NCAA titles each since 2016. But nobody wants to talk about that around here. I wonder why? The Michigan teams you mentioned were freshman heavy and no matter how talented they are, freshmen are still freshmen and sometimes struggle in the crucible of the playoffs. Finally, no one is saying hanging banners is easy. All I have ever said is that NCAA titles are what people remember and are what distinguish great programs from merely good ones.
