Ice starting to tilt against us. I don't like how this is unfolding. -

Two evenly matched teams. Good early season hockey so far. -
The PWR looks large in March.

Heck yeah! The young guys will definitely notice a different feel and intensity to the games this weekend. How they handle it will help determine whether or not we are successful. GO SIOUX!!! GOPHERS SUCK!!! -
Agreed. Honestly, I hope the student-athletes just stay off of these forums entirely. It is for fans to celebrate and/or vent frustrations. It is better if they just focus on what their coaches and teammates think.

Yeah, doesn't Pinto realize that the rivalry died after the 2013 WCHA Final Five?
-
Thanks. But it won't mean as much if we don't follow it up this weekend at UNI.
-
I don't know, I was asking @Sioux>Bison what he would have in mind.
-
You realize that would involve having only one four year University? So how would that be resolved between UND and NDSU? Or are you suggesting shutting down every school not located in Fargo or Grand Forks?
-
I don't need to trash talk. Just basking in the glow of the beat down is enough for me.
-
I think some of the fallout from Saturday is overblown. But the aura of invincibility is definitely gone.
-
That is a distinct possibility.

I thought this program was going in the right direction? So far this season, not so much. I really hope the basketball teams make some strides this season.

I've heard this narrative before. However, if Fargo really is The Center Of The Known Universe: Why did it take them years to raise $$$$$ to renovate the old BSA? Why aren't they FBS already? Why haven't they built a newer, larger stadium? The answer is that they aren't as big and powerful as they think they are. If people in Minneapolis-St. Paul were told what people in Imperial Cass County thought of themselves, they would laugh until they cried. Fargo is just another place in flyover country to people in larger cities and/or states. And to be honest, that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

We really need to grab this opportunity by the neck and continue building on the NDSU butt-kicking. It would be great to get a playoff seed again (and this time take advantage of it).
-
I have checked out GPL and the discussion thread for our series with them goes on and on and on. The discussion thread for their series with Wisconsin is much shorter.

The trick now is to play with that fire each week. We must build on this historic victory.

UND and NDSU were in different conferences for 10+ years. The rivalry never "died", it was just dormant. As long as we don't stop playing them entirely, it will continue.
-
That's actually a great question that I haven't heard anyone ever ask. Another question: Why do Canadian car ads talk about mileage instead of kilometerage?
-
Those people are the same ones who care more about basketball and football, even though neither program has won anything significant in decades. They probably don't even know where Mariucci Arena is. I saw an article about ticket scalpers after realignment who complained that the only time they made money on Gopher hockey was when UND was in town. So I think reports on the rivalry being dead are greatly exaggerated.
-
That's what some people said about UND and NDSU because we didn't play each other for a long time. Saturday's insane atmosphere in the Alerus Center says otherwise. Also, Iowa and Iowa State are in different conferences and that rivalry is still alive and kicking.
