Look at all the athletes we have named to academic all-conference teams, in multiple sports on a regular basis. That is "hard data", is it not?
-
A lot of the same habits that make someone a successful athlete also carry over to academics (work ethic, discipline, attitude, commitment, fighting through adversity, time management). With a few regrettable exceptions, our student-athletes have generally done well in the classroom over the years (Karl Goehring is one example). And I don't see why that ever has to change.
-
I share his feelings on this, but I must point out again that you need not sacrifice good GPA numbers and Community Service hours for wins. And vice-versa.
-
Well the team GPA is solid, so there's that.......
-
It would be even better for the program if we would start winning these games.
-
That doesn't stop Denver from recruiting well and winning Nattys.
-
You are right, you did disagree with the latest extension. The concern people have is that Chaves will simply continue extending Bubba just because it's the most convenient and cheapest thing to do. He has a record of doing that.
-
Well, I won't be spending a dime on traveling all that distance for a non-postseason game.
-
People have sent e-mails to decision makers and posted the responses on this forum. It was the same stuff you always post; boilerplate taking points that don't address the concerns people have. How many more years should Bubba have to fix this mess? 5? 10? 15? Please try to answer the question this time.
-
I am not turning on anyone. I am simply pointing out that all @jdub27 has to offer is boilerplate talking points that don't address the issues we are discussing and don't answer the questions some people here have. It was not a personal attack, which was happening earlier on this topic. That is what that comment was referring to.
-
We should focus on getting this program back into contention for Nattys, not scheduling more of these "destination games". What good are these games if we continue to lose them?
-
Being at home will help prevent this. The Canisius disaster was on the road.
-
You will defend anything and everything this athletic department does, no matter how bad the results are. All you ever offer are the same tired old boilerplate talking points.
-
Wave the white flag and accept that this is as good as it will ever get? Nope, not today, not tomorrow, not ever. You are part of the problem around here. Low expectations, no standards of any kind. Based on your assessment, we should just join the Pioneer League. I personally would rather drop the sport than do that, but that's just my opinion. It's been 15+ years of mostly mind-numbing mediocrity and it's people with your attitude that have helped make it possible. Congratulations.

It is insane that we have a critical must-sweep series before Thanksgiving.

2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
fightingsioux4life replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
I think we should start both goalies (one on Friday, one on Saturday) until one emerges. Then ride that guy into the playoffs. -
Let's not start turning on each other. Our enemy is mediocrity and lack of standards, not each other.

I would gladly contribute something to a buyout effort. I am sure others would as well. So spare me the "those who don't donate" crap. I just pointed out the reality of how all this is funded. Whether you or I like it or not (and I think it is pretty ridiculous) is irrelevant.
-
The 360 guys are way more objective than Tom Miller or anyone else at the Heraldo.
-
A buyout will be cheaper a year from now. Whether that will make any difference is unknown.
-
We need to get over this aversion to "spending other peoples money" because that is what funds intercollegiate athletics today. Whether we think it's "immoral" or "wrong" or just plain ridiculous is irrelevant. Either we adapt to that reality or we get left behind. We never should have moved up to D-1 without some idea to properly fund our programs at a level where we could compete. That is the ultimate root of our current problems.
-
If wins and losses are 100% irrelevant, we are officially running this program like a high school program.
-
Lol yourself. This isn't funny. My point is that Chaves will keep extending him indefinitely so he doesn't have to have that difficult conversation with him. And if he does that, you'll probably give us another contract negotiation lesson in support of it.
-
So basically Bubba has a lifetime contract as long as he wants it. Unacceptable. But keep cheerleading him if you want. I am through listening to the alibis and excuses.
