I agree on the lack of leadership of the FB program. Something has to change.

So we should all learn to live with the way things are now permanently? Sorry, but I will never accept that. This whole Division I move was mismanaged from the start. We are still using the same funding model as we did in Division II. We are a proud institution with a tradition of excellence wallowing in the mud of mediocrity. And we have people sleepwalking around like they either don't know what is happening or, worse, don't think it's a big deal. We are running this entire athletic department like a high school, where as long as the overall athletic department GPA is 3.0 or higher, it doesn't matter how many games we win or lose. If this is how we are going to run it, we might as well go back down to Division II where we can run everything on the cheap and still win. But I think we are capable of so much more. The ball is in your court President Armacost. Change has to start at the top and it must start with you.

And collegiate sports is a gigantic mess right now because of this mentality. It is not sustainable over the long run. There will be a reckoning for a lot of people sooner or later. And it won't be pleasant. Anyway, everyone has their own opinions on this. What's not open to interpretation is that this is as low as the program has been since the Mussman Era. And it only figures to get worse before 2024 kicks off. But I'll be in my seat in the Alerus Center as always.

And screwing people has consequences. That's also life. Ralph Engelstad liked doing business with a handshake and hated dealing with pages and pages of legalese. Those days are over, unfortunately. Landry stabbed us in the back. He is persona non grata as far as I am concerned.

So if someone made a deal with you and then turned around and stuck it to you, you would have no problem with it? Please.

You're right about that. And I am not apologizing for it. But the larger, overall problem is Chaves being invisible and running the department like a high school. If that doesn't change, nothing else will.

Integrity matters. I don't care what aspect of life you are talking about. If you don't have integrity, everything else is meaningless. I am really sick of the whole "You can't blame someone for doing whatever they want" thinking. Landry stabbed all of us in the back. If you want to applaud him, go right on ahead. All of the above and then some. The athletic department has been sinking into a dark hole under Chaves. If he extends Bubba during the off-season, that will be the last straw for me.

I agree with you on the systemic problems. But this isn't about that; this is about someone giving their word and then breaking it. That is what has me fuming, not him wanting to make more money.

If Landry had went straight from St. Thomas to NDSU, that wouldn't bother me that much. But he took the job at UND, blubbered about how happy he was to be back.......and then stabbed Bubba and the rest of us in the back on his way out the door to NDSU. It's fairly obvious he used the UND offer to get the NDSU one. Disgusting. But whomever wants to cheer him on down there so you can "be a part of it", go right on ahead. Landry is now the enemy and should be treated as such.

So that means you can screw people over all you want and we're all supposed to be fine about it? Integrity matters. Character matters. Your frigging word should matter. I would not want to conduct business with someone who stabs people in the back. I don't think Ralph Engelstad made his fortune by screwing people over.
