Every great coach started somewhere. Brian Kelly went from GVSU to Central Michigan to Cincinnati to Notre Dame to LSU. Don't immediately dismiss a candidate because they coach a lower level of FB.

It is listed as a minimum requirement, not a preferred requirement. I still think they would have announced it already if they wanted to go with Fruechte.

Fruechte has 7 years coaching experience. The minimum number of years required in the job posting is 8. It's almost like they did that to send a message that they are going external.

There supposedly was a lot of interest in this job once it was posted. So that means there may be a lot of quality applicants to sort out.

This would be a El Cheapo bargain basement hire. No, no, no.

If they wanted to go internal, they would have announced it already. No point in spending time and money on a national search if you have no intention of hiring externally.

I actually think it's good they are being thorough about vetting the various candidates. Chaves has to get this right if he wants to keep his AD job.

@hockeytherapy13 simply pointed out that the NCHC has one true bottom feeder program (Miami). The WCHA had several of them most years.
