  1. That's really cute, Dave. You guys are persistent, I'll give you that much. But throwing mud on me and my reputation as a fan of this institution and everything in it won't help your cause at all. If anything, it just makes you look more and more desperate as you use hopeless tactics trying to save a name and logo that I (and many, many others on this forum) love instead of supporting the one action that has any chance of success (the Spirit Lake lawsuit against the abusive, monopolistic NCAA). The petition drives will achieve the same thing that "Clueless Al" Carlson's law did: N-O-T-H-I-N-G! The NCAA doesn't give a crap about what the State of North Dakota thinks about anything. Just look at what has happened to South Carolina with regards to the Confederate flag controversy. If the name and logo are enshrined into the state constitution, the NCAA might decide to penalize the ENTIRE STATE of North Dakota over this issue like they did in South Carolina. That will hurt ALL of our institutions, including the Ag College down in Fargo. The only things the NCAA fears at all are 1) the Federal court system and 2) the Congress of the United States of America. Those two institutions can make life miserable for them. The State of North Dakota is like a mosquito buzzing in your ear while you try to golf 18 holes during one of our few nice summer days. A minor irritant, but nothing more.
  2. I am "willing" to do what it takes to keep UND strong both athletically and academically. YOU, on the other hand, are "willing" to "just flush (UND) down the toilet" to keep the name and logo. Nuking the athletic department just to save it is just plain stupid. We have fought this fight for six long years, but it's time to face facts and realize we can't do anything more. What is the point of having the name and logo without an athletic department to use it?
  3. The official logo of the nickname-at-all-costs crowd. When the facts and the situation are unbearable, just pretend it will all go away. Now, back to reality for the rest of us.
  4. The truth hurts, doesn't it son? If anything, YOUR loyalty to the institution that I love is basically in shambles based on your myopic viewpoint of destroying UND athletics in order to save the name and logo. I will always consider myself a Fighting Sioux fan FOR LIFE!!! So my user name is not changing. Deal with it.
  5. This is really getting pathetic. The nickname-at-all-costs crowd can't counter with facts, so they are resorting to cute little bedtime stories, animal noises, colorful pictures of animals and fairy tales. I feel like I am trapped in a really bad version of Sesame Street. For Pete's Sake, bring some serious beef to the table or don't even bother trying anymore.
  6. YOU are the one "desperately clinging" to the 1 in a 1,000 chance that any of this will bring the name and logo back WITHOUT crippling sanctions. Pot-Kettle-Black anyone?
  7. I would believe the National Enquirer before I would believe that piece of crap gossip dirt sheet blog.
  8. Faison had better not agree to this deal for us. The rule I would put in place is this: No home and home, no games! Period. End of story. REA is nice enough to attract any of the top programs in the country for a non-conference series. Rodentia can just find someone else to help fill their schedule, which will take some doing since the Big Ten will have only six teams in it.
  9. You are an exception to this rule. A very rare exception.
  10. And just how much "moxy" does Denver and Colorado College (two small private schools) have? Or Neb-Omaha? Or Western Michigan? Or St. Cloud State? I rest my case. This has nothing to do with "moxy", this is about rushing to sign a TV deal instead of weighing all the many options that are out there in both cable and satellite TV. I think the NCHC could have cut a better deal with someone else that is always looking for programming (Fox College Sports for instance). They could have used our relationship and connections with FCS to put together a package that would have helped all the schools in the conference, most of whom don't have a lot of institutional power to start with, get more nationwide exposure. This was a bad deal for everyone.
  11. I agree with you. The problem is, the hockey-only crowd couldn't care less. They are the ones in our fan base really pushing this crap.
  12. Thank you for your myopic viewpoint. Now please go back to the Men's Hockey forum and stop talking nonsense.
  13. It's quite simple: If Rodentia (Minnesota) wants to play us after next year, it had better be a home and home deal, not any of this "only in Minneapolis" garbage. We shouldn't cater hand and foot to anybody, especially a snobbish program with some followers who think we shouldn't even have a program. If they insist on Minneapolis only, then Faison should just tell them the rivalry is over indefinitely. The same should go for that school 75 miles to our south, but that's another topic for another forum.
  14. Wonder if Craig Bohl will pitch a hissy fit like Amy Ruley did when Crouse picked UND over NDSU because of Aviation?
  15. Why does every other thread in the Community forum have to degenerate into political mudslinging?!?! Good grief, lets talk about the impacts on UND and the region and not who's fault it is. There are plenty of other places on the Internet you can go and debate this.
  16. I was in the student section that night. There was blood all over the ice. From that day forward, nobody in the conference dared screw around with Mr. Commodore. He became one of the most feared players in the WCHA.
  17. The Force is the first team that has worked down there; they had two or three other teams that just didn't draw very well. Let's see if they can keep it going.
  18. I agree with you on this, but I think we better work on thinking big on our football schedule first. More DI FCS games, fewer NAIA and Division II games. Then I think big things are possible.
  19. ESPN is reporting that Paterno is hospitalized in serious condition. What a fall from grace this man has suffered. Whatever you think of his role in the sex abuse scandal, it is sad to see someone crash and burn like this.
  20. Agree with you. We just don't have any depth. Hopefully next year guys will stay healthy and we'll get a new crop of recruits to inject some life into the team.
  21. Good one Fetch. You can't counter with facts, so you resort to comedy. Keep supporting the petitioners if you wish, but they are not doing UND any favors.
  22. Okay, I was exaggerating a little bit. But we just don't have much depth overall and it's hard to win consistently without it.
  23. If this had anything to do with his comments at the luncheon last week, I will have a BIG problem with it. If it was just Roebuck deciding to call it a career, I am fine with it. Faison better make the right choice on this or we could end up like NDSU's women's program, which has really hit the skids.
