  1. Anybody that thinks the season is lost because of what happened to Hanson can just get off the bandwagon right now. This team is deeper and more athletic than they have ever been and they have great depth at RB and WR. The defense is looking to be a strength of the team once again. And if they have to pull a redshirt off of a QB, so what? It won't ruin the program. If this team can get better week by week, we'll have a solid first year in the Big Sky Conference, and that isn't all that bad considering how we looked a couple of years ago. Keep the faith!
  2. I see you are still at it with your cute little comments and cheapshots. I guess when you are 100% wrong about something, that's all you have left.
  3. Considering all the UND alums that live in Fargo, you simply can't make the argument that there isn't a market for UND sports in Imperial Cass County. That's like the NFL saying the replacement refs will do "a credible job" during the regular season if the lockout lasts that long.
  4. This is a hold over from our transition period when it was hard to get games. Our future schedules are looking much, much better.
  5. People are willing to fork over $7 for beer, $6 for burgers and $5 for hot dogs at REA, but are whining about tailgate food not being free? Come on people, it's a big event and a big day in UND athletics. Quit looking for stuff to complain about.
  6. Thanks for the interest in UND athletics. Now, please focus on your own program's problems, they are considerable.
  7. NDSU had better not have ANYTHING to do with this outrage.
  8. This could rival the 80-0 blowout NDSU had over Minnesota State-Moorhead in 2000.
  9. You are forgetting who has more ND State Hockey Championships.
  10. Okay, that is a fair position to take on this. I also think FCS is the right level for UND and I hope our teams meet in the playoffs sometime.
  11. Oh really? You basically agreed with my position that being low-level FBS is not as good as being upper-level FCS. I never once mentioned basketball in my post. Not once. There has been some FBS talk on this forum from both NDSU and UND fans and I felt it was important to point out that people should be careful for what they wish for because the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. Both UND and NDSU are in the perfect place (Division I in all sports and DI FCS in football). I guess I could live with one division of D-I basketball and I also could live with having two tiers of D-I basketball, but I think any more than that would water it down too much. As long as UND contends nationally in Men's and Women's Hockey and FCS Football, I won't complain too much about basketball not having a chance at a D-I championship.
  12. So, based on your logic, NDSU would have been better off in a low-level FBS bowl game, in mid-December, on a weeknight, on ESPN2, that nobody knows or cares about, with lots of empty seats in the stands, with a crappy payout that barely covers the cost of the trip than hosting three FCS playoff games and then traveling to Frisco, TX with a bunch of your fans and winning your first national football title in 21 years? Good luck with that.
  13. If people are petty enough to boycott UND athletics because they don't like Grand Forks Red River High School athletics, then we don't need them. I am a Central alum (Class of 1993) and I couldn't care less about this. Like I have said before, if we start ruling out nicknames because someone else is using them, then we might as well stop brainstorming.
  14. Just to remind people; the deal with Midco is NOT the reason games won't be available on FCS anymore. The blame for that lies with the NCHC and the exclusive national TV deal they signed. Midco will have HD broadcasts within 3 years and likely will add a penalty clock to hockey broadcasts; which helps resolve two major complaints from our fan base over the years. If Cable One decides NOT to carry our games, that is not Midco's fault, that is the fault of an abusive monopoly that a lot of people in Fargo are sick and tired of. In the long run, Midco will be a great partner to work with, as they have been a company that does things in a first class manner. People that wish Pat Sweeney was still around should just let it go.
  15. That's good to hear; maybe I am just missing them.
  16. This question bears asking again; where in the HECK is this "massive" advertising campaign we were promised? And no, just using social media doesn't qualify. We are back to advertising the week before the first home game, just like in Division II. This absolutely MUST change in the future.
  17. It is very obvious based on his actions (and the words of the Bison trolls on this forum) that Gene Taylor would really want any future regular season UND-NDSU games to be in Fargo. Period. Otherwise, "it just isn't worth our time". Well, I got news for all of you FBS wanna-be's in Imperial Cass County and elsewhere around the region, Brian Faison will never, ever agree to something like that. If that is what it would take to restart the rivalry, I am comfortable with the status quo. We'll just have to wait until we meet in the FCS playoffs. Unless the mighty Bison move up to FBS and join the Big Ten. I suppose they would be jumping to play us again by that point.
  18. Then UND-NDSU on the football field is dead (sorry, that's just the way it is). And I honestly couldn't care less. We are now full Division I and in the Big Sky Conference, which looks better and better with each passing week. Our schedules are looking better and better all the time. And, sooner than you would want, we will make our first appearance in the FCS playoffs. And then, hopefully, we'll resume our dominance over your little Herd (10-3 since 1993). You can say "it doesn't matter anymore" all you want, but it most certainly does and, deep down, you guys know it. One FCS title and you guys are just so full of yourselves, you think poor little old UND just can't survive without a game contract with the mighty NDSU Bison. But the evidence just doesn't support that conclusion. Maybe Gene Taylor should try to schedule a game with Alabama (the Crimson Tide, not one of their nickel and dime small school programs) because I think some of your fans actually believe that maybe, just maybe, you could knock them off. And after the biggest beatdown in Bison football history (on the receiving end, anyway), I think your egos would be cut down to FCS (and Minnesota Gopher) size. But maybe that is wishful thinking.
  19. Yes, but our Bison friends will keep telling us that the Summit is sooooo much better for us and we should have went there instead.
  20. Where is this big advertising campaign for UND football we were promised? I haven't seen or heard anything on any radio or television. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about this.
  21. In 2010, I went on a long roadtrip with my future wife. We drove to San Diego and were there for Independence Day. We took a cab to Old Town and had dinner at Cafe Coyote. This was Mexican food that makes Paradiso look like Taco Bell. If I ever go there again, I will definitely have another meal there.
  22. The NFL has pretty strict drug testing procedures. This kid wouldn't last long if he kept smoking weed.
  23. I think they meant to show an NDSU Bison flag instead; they just got the schools mixed up.
  24. I agree. Our program is FINALLY in a legitimate conference and a full-fledged member of Division I. The last thing I want is for us to go after a kid with serious substance abuse problems in his life. It could very well destroy team chemistry on and off the field.
  25. Marcos is much, much better than your average pizza. They use all fresh ingredients and you can tell the difference right away. It doesn't taste processed or artificial like other pizzas sometimes do. And the best part is, I now live within walking distance from there, so I think I'll be having it more often.
