  1. Yes, he should have until the end of his current contract. But if we are still muddling around .500 and fighting hard to get into the CIT on an annual basis, then it will be time for a change, even if those average records are good enough for 2nd or 3rd in the Big Sky. But I have a strong suspicion that some people on here will want him to stick around even if there is no improvement. Those are the people I am getting tired of. And what was wrong with my analogy? It's not perfect, but it illustrates the principle that the CEO/General/Head Coach/General Manager is the boss, is in charge and is responsible for getting results.
  2. And we won two NCAA titles in the "Old Barn" (a.k.a. The Winter Sports Building), which was a WPA project completed during the Great Depression.
  3. Blah, blah, blah.....we heard the same song and dance from the Mussman apologists and look where that got us. This is Jones' program, top to bottom, backwards, forwards and sideways. He has been here long enough to be held accountable for the results or lack thereof. In the military, if an army loses battle after battle, do we get rid of all the soldiers and keep the commander or do we sack the general? I think you know the answer to that question.
  4. I think in order to get an up and coming assistant coach from a big-time program to be your head coach, you must be willing to pony up the cash up-front. There is risk in doing that, but there is risk in everything. It's tough on the athletic department budget, but that's the world we jumped into when we moved up.
  5. Everybody is "unproven" at some point in their careers. Everybody gets their start someplace. Based on your statement, we should just recycle the same coaches over and over again.
  6. I personally would have taken their money, told them to *bleep* off, and continued my career. What kind of relationship can he have with his bosses at Minnesota State; people that tried, convicted and sentenced him without all the facts?
  7. Just a trademark early season tease from the Twins. They'll be in the basement before the end of May.
  8. I hate to say this, but I agree with both of them. NDSU has made a serious commitment to rebuilding their WBB program into a conference title contender and giving themselves a chance to accomplish what Brewster and UND did this year. And yet, many on this forum are criticizing that?
  9. Hey Gophers, congrats on hanging ANOTHER Runner-Up banner from the rafters of "The John"!!! And you can take those 0.6 second t-shirts and stick them where the sun don't shine!!!

Am I supposed to be happy about it? Like I said, enjoy being Runner-Up U!

I guess that's one better than tying for 3rd.

Just keep telling yourself that. Btw, what will happen to that championship mural the WH team was planning for their three-peat clinching title?

  10. My point is that if a coach hasn't screwed up enough to get fired, but hasn't won enough to earn a raise, it will make the same average, milk-toast results likely on a perennial basis. And I am not calling for Jones' head; I think he should finish his current contract. But if we are still muddling around with a .500 or slightly better record, then I think it will be time for a change. Jones has been around long enough to be held accountable for the results (or lack thereof) on the court. And enough about "transition" and "nickname", those situations have run their course.
  11. The problem with this line of thinking is that it almost guarantees continued mediocrity for the foreseeable future. When does Jones run out of rope? I would give him until the end of his current contract.
  12. Which is all that some people on this forum care about anymore.
  13. Um, I don't think SiouxFanatic mentioned coaching in his comment. He is just devastated over this gut-wrenching loss, as am I, as are a lot of people. If we can't find it in ourselves to feel extreme disappointment after losses like this, then we have lost our edge as a fan base. I would argue we lost our edge as a fan base some time ago.
  14. The problem is, it always happens to us. That is what is wearing on people.
  15. This is what I have noticed over the years. I still haven't gotten used to it, though.
  16. This has to be rock bottom in this championship drought. Can't go anywhere but up from this.
  17. 2005 vs. Denver, a 4-1 loss Tonight was the 6th consecutive loss in the Frozen Four. And probably the most painful of them all.
  18. I'm not talking about the handful of posters on this site, I am talking about the toolboxes we used to deal with at the Final Five every year. Mark my words, the trolls will be on here soon rubbing our noses in it. I hope the Mods are ready.
  19. That makes a whole bunch of us.
  20. Are you forgetting what fan base we are talking about here? They don't know what gracious means.
  21. Union is for real; I honestly think everyone is overlooking them because they are a small school in New York and are unknown to everyone except die-hard college hockey fans. If Lucia-pet and company want to overlook them, they are in for a nasty surprise on Saturday night.
  22. I think you have to go back to the 2001 NCAA title game loss in OT to find something that hurts this bad. A close second was the 2011 debacle in St. Paul.
  23. I'm not a Mets fan (better them than the Yankees, though), but I am with you on all the others. But that goes with the territory being a die-hard fan of any team of any sport at any level.
  24. Everyone needs to get on the Union bandwagon now. The offseason will be unbearable if the Dutchmen don't win on Saturday. Especially for those of us that live in MSP.
  25. I think we should save the postmortem stuff until next week. Let people have their space. Is that too much to ask?
