  1. I was in Brookings the day we beat SDSU and Klosterman got hurt diving into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown. Driving home in the autumn rain, I knew losing Klosterman was the final nail in the coffin for that season. Looks like that is the case again this year.
  2. I am looking forward to the day when we don't have to start true freshmen OR redshirt freshmen. The program isn't there yet. But I think it will be.
  3. Comment of the day! Thanks for making me laugh on a day like this!
  4. I thought the linebackers were the backbone of a 3-4 defense?
  5. So you think high school kids should be able to come on campus and immediately start performing at a high level? It doesn't work that way in any sport, especially FB. "Next man up" only works when you have built quality depth throughout the program and that doesn't happen overnight. Bubba and company are in this for the long haul and I believe our best days are ahead of us.
  6. Bubba and his staff have three full recruiting classes under their belts. When you consider they started out with next to nothing and there is always some attrition, that doesn't leave much room for error when it comes to injuries. This is the most banged-up this team has been since 2002...and before that, 1989. I am not calling for regime change....except for maybe Rudolph. We spent most of the first half running up the middle for no gain and then punting. That put the defense in an impossible position. Time for new leadership on offense. Otherwise, stay the course.
  7. This is what I am trying to do: Focus on the long-term and not the short-term. But it's hard to do when people were so excited about this team coming into this season.
  8. Allow me to vent a little bit first: Section 217 is once again a big, fat party zone. The Alerus Center should sell some alcohol down there for the last three home games because there will be a lot of celebrating down there. Teams are running on us at will. An 0-3 team comes into our house and looks like the 1985 Chicago Bears. Now, for a little perspective: We are forced into playing guys that usually don't play unless we are nursing a 40-0 lead. That leads to what we saw today. Bubba has three full recruiting classes under his belt. When you start out with next to nothing, that isn't much. The lack of depth is showing this year, as the injuries pile up. Last year's team won some exciting games, but also avoided the number of injuries this team has been hit with. I still believe in this coaching regime and I still believe that our best days are ahead of us. Looking forward to Homecoming. GO FIGHTING HAWKS!!! BUCK THE FISON!!!
  9. When is this going to change? Every year, we are "starting over" with the offensive line. It is becoming a tired old refrain around here.
  10. I was referring to the Game Day Thread. That got ugly last weekend!
  11. There are genuine concerns after last weekend. But there were some people last Saturday calling for regime change. That is going way too far, IMHO.
  12. You might want to change your user name! Just kidding, that was too easy.
  13. Reverse Karma Psychology. I like it.
  14. OUCH! You must think last week was a sign of things to come? I sure hope you are wrong.
  15. UND rebounds at home with a season-saving win. UND 24 MSU 14
  16. I am in partial agreement with you. But it is important to note that it isn't really the loss to a good team in a tough environment that bothers people; it's the manner in which it occurred. Losing 45-7 is something people thought was in the past.
  17. Very good analysis and comparison. I think one of the silver linings of having so many injuries is that your younger guys get a lot of valuable game experience, which is something you cannot replicate in practice. That could bode well for us in the next couple of years. Not that I am giving up on this season yet.
  18. Cripes, at this rate we will have to pull a bunch of redshirts just to have a two-deep lineup at every position! This will test our coaching staff as they try to put a competitive team on the field this Saturday.
  19. The good thing is that freshmen forwards are more likely to adjust to this level quickly than freshman defensemen. Our defensive zone coverage should be better and I think our young forwards can make some noise early. So that is why I am more optimistic about 2017-18 than I was 2016-17.
  20. In other words: RUN THE EFFING TABLE!!!
  21. Look John Boy Walton, you are wearing out your welcome here. If your entire purpose is to jab people, then please get lost and stay lost. After yesterday, I have ZERO patience for bullcrap today. Z-E-R-O.
  22. True. But it is common for a team to come out flat after an emotional win.
  23. And we'll have to see if there is a letdown for them in their next game.
  24. Well, we don't join the MVFC for another three years, so we have time to right the ship.
  25. Beat it troll. You are not welcome here. Go back to Bisonville or whatever hole you crawled out of.
