  1. Btw, who was it that ran into the kicker and started this epic meltdown? I suggest we name him Bill Buckner.
  2. I honestly hope Richmond gets destroyed next week at EWU. This loss will hurt for awhile.
  3. I believe back in 1998, Red River beat Wahpeton-Breckenridge 24-2 in the First Round of the EDC tournament at Purpur Arena. Red River had more goals than Wahp-Breck had shots on goal, so Red River could have played without a goalie and still won by double digits.
  4. I am thinking the attendance will be good to great for this game. Now we need to make sure everyone is loud on ALL downs (not just 3rd and 4th).
  5. That defense was so much fun to watch. And it is great that we are getting back to that style. Can't believe this was 15 years ago today!
  6. I second this. They aren't posting their stupid "Bubba Gump" jokes on here anymore, so that is a positive.
  7. Our close, personal friend DaveK has an extensive collection of past games. Perhaps you should PM him?
  8. Exactly, this is how you build an alumni base that is willing to give back when they are established and successful. Pay it forward.
  9. One thing that is tough to measure is how many of our goals against are the result of sloppy d-zone play vs sloppy goaltending. You can give up 17 shots on goal, but if there are 3 defensive break downs that result in goals, that will skew the save percentage considerably.
  10. Thank you for totally missing the point of this entire topic. Have a nice day.
  11. My point is that if we draw 7,000 or less, you cannot blame it entirely on the game in NYC. We should be able to compensate the loss of some FB/MH dual season ticket holders for a second-round FCS playoff game with people who maybe haven't checked a game out yet. I just don't want the NYC game to be used as a crutch.
  12. I am tired of hearing this rationalization. There are a lot of people who either cannot afford to go to NYC or couldn't make it work with their schedules. There also are people who cannot afford hockey tickets who probably could afford football tickets that we could get hooked on football if we just get them in the door a couple of times. Those are the people we need to target. Not just for Saturday's game, but for future games. There is a lot of untapped potential for this program when it comes to building the fan base.
  13. FBS finally got rid of all that poll-based nonsense a few years ago. I wonder how many national titles we would have won in the 1960's and 70's if the playoff system had been implemented earlier.
  14. Great news!
  15. But that was with their regular starting QB in the line-up. On Saturday, they'll be starting a young kid who hasn't played in a madhouse like the Alerus Center before.
  16. Schlossman wrote an article on this topic today in the Heraldo: http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/4168345-commentary-offense-not-goaltending-what-could-use-jolt A key passage: Despite what the "If only we had Belfour" crowd would have you believe, Cam Johnson is NOT the biggest problem with the team right now. Not even close.
  17. The thing is, we don't need a sellout to make it loud in there. As long as we have at least 8,000 or so, we'll be good with the atmosphere. I think the goal should be 10,000.
  18. Welcome to siouxsports.com! We are all looking forward to seeing what your team brings to the table.
  19. I don't think these are the people UND marketing needs to target. The real targets are the casual sports fans in Grand Forks who are not supporting the program right now, but could get hooked if you get them to a couple of games. Bubba and his team are exciting to watch and it wouldn't take much to get them hooked. We just need to get them in the freaking door.
  20. Nice win, time to start a winning streak for a change.
  21. When you are losing the argument.....change the subject. Nice John-Boy Walton, nice.
  22. This is the mortal threat to any program. When things get to the point where apathy sets in. If fans are angry and venting, that is a good sign. If fans start to feel apathy, that is a bad sign. MBB hasn't been relevant for so long (20+ years) that apathy is starting to settle in.
  23. As soon as you stop making asinine comments, I will.
  24. I have followed this program since 1993, as a student and a season-ticket holder, and I will continue promoting this team and encouraging people to show up and support them. Just shrugging your shoulders and saying "Just the way it is" and "It is what it is" won't change the fan culture in Grand Forks and in North Dakota. Continuing to talk this team up will change it.
