  1. So essentially, accept being a mid-major as the new reality and get used to it. Sorry, I will not do that.
  2. You and a lot of other people.
  3. Oh okay. Thanks for adding that clarification.
  4. So that makes how many Subways in Grand Forks.......12, 13 maybe? #howmanyistoomany
  5. Okay, tell me where I am wrong. I honestly don't follow NDSU athletics like UND athletics, so please educate me.
  6. Wall to wall juggernaut? Their MBB and WBB programs are in the toilet right now. Their other non-FB programs aren't much better. If you really think people like myself are going to accept UND becoming a low-level Division I school forever, you are kidding yourself. UND alumni will not tolerate the current level of mediocrity in the athletic department forever. I think Bill Chaves will clean this mess up and get us back to winning.
  7. Thanks for the laugh, I needed it.
  8. But remember...…. It's "all about the relationships" and "all about teaching life lessons". So it doesn't matter how much we lose or how bad we look doing it. (extreme sarcasm)
  9. This is a false choice. This isn't an either/or question: 1 NCAA title and years of mediocrity vs. O NCAA titles and years of 25+ wins. The idea is to have a consistent winner and also win NCAA titles when all the pieces are in place to do so, which isn't the case every year. That shouldn't be a problem at UND. The fact that it is should bother people. But it doesn't seem to right now. There is a high school mentality in this athletic department right now (as long as the kids work hard, play hard and get good grades, nothing else matters). And as long as we have that, we won't win anything in any sport anytime soon.
  10. Better them than Denver or Duluth.
  11. That was a freak snowstorm that wasn't supposed to be as bad as it was. Lot of people were stranded on I-29.
  12. And this happened. Surprised this hasn't been shared yet: Standout Minnetonka hockey player suffers frostbite during Hockey Day Minnesota game http://www.fox9.com/news/standout-minnetonka-hockey-player-suffers-frostbite-during-hockey-day-minnesota-game Silly doctor! It builds "character"! Heck, if the kid had gotten gangrene, he would have built even more character! THIS is what our youth need! (sarcasm) #ignoranceisthenewcommonsense
  13. Since we got rid of the Fighting Sioux name and logo, I think the odds of Jackson donating to help the basketball programs have gone up.....if we have the nerve to ask. Jackson played here and his experiences at UND helped him get to where he is today, so I would think we could convince him to give to MBB and WBB.
  14. Nice putting words in my mouth. I did not say "nothing else matters to the Engelstad Family." I only meant as it pertains to UND athletics. And it is true. Do you see KEM writing checks for the MBB, WBB or FB programs? Or any other programs not named Men's Hockey? I don't. They give to charities, good for them (and for the recipients of their goodwill). But that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Nice try, please play again.
  15. The Engelstad family cares only about hockey. Nothing else matters. Their words and actions reflect this. Time to court other potential donors; it is unhealthy to rely on one benefactor.
  16. Yeah, I forgot about that.
  17. Maybe Phil Jackson can write us a big, fat check to build a new basketball complex on the current Hyslop Sports Center site?
  18. So we should give Jones an extension? Doh-Kay. #mediocrityU
  19. I am not giving up on Bubba just yet, but I agree with the general tone of your post.
  20. So NDSU isn't swimming in money after all? That is good to know.
  21. Calling for the heads of Berry and Bubba is premature at this point, although I think their seats are getting a little warm right now. But it is quite clear that MBB and WBB are going straight down the toilet. And please don't give me examples of what happened 3, 4 and 5 years ago; recent trends for both programs are down, way down. And I am sick of hearing how we can't afford to change anything that doesn't work. Like UND-FB-FAN said above, "...it’s doable for anyone truthfully determined to do so. Find more money (donors, budget reallocation, etc.) and don’t pay such binding contracts to unproven coaches." Chaves is going to earn his money the next couple of years and I don't envy his job right now. Like I have said before, NDSU makes waves, while UND makes excuses. And it is getting really sickening.
  22. The Chiefs would be headed to the Super Bowl if one of their defensive linemen hadn't been lined up in the neutral zone on the same play that Brady threw a pick late in the 4th quarter with Chiefs in the lead. When you get Brady and the Patriots down, you better finish the job. KC found out the hard way what happens when you don't.
  23. But isn't that why we kiss KEM's a$$, even though she doesn't really care all that much about UND? If she won't help us buy out Berry, then she isn't the asset you and others think she is. Know who your friends are (and aren't).
  24. I feel it is time to bring this post back from 5+ years ago. This has been a slow-motion disaster that started when we moved to Division I without a plan to properly fund our non-hockey sports. And it has to change. Soon. Bill Chaves, a lonely fan base turns its eyes to you. #darkdaysindeed
