We had about a month of night games when the Alerus Center opened in 2001. They were well attended. But Dale Lennon kept bitching about not liking night games and pretty soon we were back to 1pm ad nauseum. A lot of other coaches make night games work all the time, so there is no reason why we can't do it again.

Will these new requirements force any current FBS schools to drop down to FCS?

All coaches in all sports have to deal with "changes in society and college sports". Some are successful, some are not. If Bubba can't be successful in the current environment, we need to find someone who can.

I think everyone is still sore about what happened in Brookings.

There has to be a less expensive way to accomplish that goal.

I have always felt that Starbucks is just overpriced coffee. The others you listed would be great to have in the union.

To be fair to Bubba, I don't think he has had all the tools he needs to make this program a perennial FCS contender. That being said, I don't know if he is capable of taking us to the next level, new facilities or not. The program reached a ceiling under Roger Thomas.....and Dale Lennon took us to the next level. It may be time for someone else to take us to that next level (seeded in FCS playoffs, trips to Frisco, FCS titles). I believe the sample size is now big enough to conclude that Bubba has reached the ceiling on how far he can take us as a program. I really hope I am wrong, but I don't think I am.

So which is it? Is he a back-up who didn't get much playing time or was he in the rotation and got playing time? It cannot be both.

How many years does Bubba have left on his current contract?

I believe that was a home playoff win over the Cowboys the year before Dallas won the Superbowl vs. the Bills. Then they went to Washington and lost the NFC title game. The then-Redskins beat the Bills in the Superbowl in the Metrodome.

I don't think Jerry will bolt over that. If he can't win the starting job after two years, maybe. But somehow I don't think that will happen.

Got their first win on the road at Carolina 21-13. Season kept alive for the time being.

With Bubba, we'll never go back to being horrible like under Mussman. But we'll also never contend for FCS titles with Bubba. Some people on this forum are fine with that. I am not. Moving up to Division I and then settling for average at best makes no sense. Time to get serious.

Agreed. We have to stop this hockey vs. everything else thinking. It's a false choice that is holding our athletic department back.

I agree that today's performance is awful. But bringing hockey into the discussion is not helpful.
