I agree with everyone that we do need another run-off vote now should one of these not get at least 50%. Let's just say it goes FH - 40%, RR - 33%, and Nodaks - 27%. Yes, Fighting Hawks got the most votes, but it's a nickname that 60% of the people do not want. So much for being unifying. Narrow it down to two options, and you can get a true majority vote.

Based on the poll on the Herald's website, we're going to end up with Fighting Hawkes and a logo like this:

They could with any nickname though.....

It's been a long time since I've been to a football game, but why wouldn't the announcer say the full name? He didn't say 'Fighting Sioux?' But anyways, I think Riders is the clear choice based on this. Daks is obviously the worst.

Thanks for pointing this out! I forgot to go back and check on that. They also charged me $89.95 after telling me it would be $81. Email has been sent to them.

My renew date isn't until 9/27, so I'm waiting and expecting a charge that is inconsistent with what they have told me. I had the all-conference package last year and was charged around $80. This year they have the all-conference package for $90 or single schools for $80. I emailed and asked what I would be renewed for and they said I would be automatically renewed for $81.95. We'll see though.

Actually, no. Those don't sound as bad to me. Maybe because Illinois and Utah are shorter than North Dakota, I don't know. And on their website, they still refer to themselves as the Fighting Illini which is pretty good.

Red River should just do the same thing to Cedar Rapids. No way that team was in place before Red River had the name.

Per rotoworld.com: Nick Mattson has agreed to a one-year deal with AHL Rockford. The Rockford IceHogs are affiliated with the Chicago Blackhawks. Mattson was taken by Chicago with the 180th overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He went on to play for the University of North Dakota and is going pro after completing his senior year. He had four goals and 21 points in 33 games last season.

That was my thought too. That's why I think if Nokota is to be the nickname, it needs to be Fighting or Charging or Wild or SOMETHING between Dakota and Nokota.
