I stand corrected. Thanks for setting me straight!! But I would not think that they would use yellow in their jerseys.
-
But it is the playoffs and anything can happen. Last year Montana St. was ranked #4 with a first round bye. An 8-4 Bison team rolled into Bozeman and dominated them in a huge upset. That's why they play these games on the field and not on paper!!
-
No way this is a UND jersey. It is green and yellow. No way would a UND team have those colors on any jersey. I doubt it is an NDSU jersey either. Neither school ever ever went by Nodak. Probably some old city league jersey some guy is trying to make money off of pushing it as a former UND jersey. Lame!!

I agree that it does happen. But ask Montana how that worked for them last year. They were 7-4. However, one of there wins was against D2 Western State. But, only wins against Division 1 programs count in the eyes of the selection commitee when deternining at large bids for the playoffs. So in the selection commitees eyes they were really only 6-4. NDSU was 7-4 also. They however, did not schedule any games against lower division schools so they had 7 D1 wins. So they make the playoffs over Montana. Had Montana scheduled a cupcake FCS team instead of Western State and won, they would have made the playoffs. So yes you can make the playoffs in a year where you schedule a lower division school. But the unofficial cutoff for making the playoffs is 7 D1 wins. So yes you can schedule school of mines and beat them. But you better win 7 of your next 10 games to have a chance. All I am saying is I don't want what happened to Montana last year happen to UND.

Faison must have known that 2012 would be our first year of eligibility for the playoffs. He must have known that the selection comittee only counts D1 wins when choosing at large bids for the playoffs. He must have known that scheduling a D2 or NAIA team would affect or chances of making the playoffs in 2012. He must have known that starting 2012 off with an oppponent that would get people excited for a D1 football season where we are playoff eligible was important. He must have known that there are 126 FCS Schools that he could have scheduled instead of School of Mines. He had to have known all this right?? I mean I knew all of this and I am just an average Joe Sioux football fan. Faison is the head of the University of North Dakota Athletic Department. It is his job to know all these things right? So Faison either didn't realize all this or he did realize it and did nothing. Either way, he made a huge mistake and his judgement and ability to run this Athletic Department should be in question. His scheduling during the past 5 years of transition is an absolute joke. I just hope there are people in his department that are telling him this so he can make things right.

Yes. 4 home conference games, 4 away conference games, 2 OOC games against FCS teams (preferably at home), and an away game at an FBS school that we will get big revenue from. That should be our formula for scheduling every year.
-
I don't care who they schedule, as long as they are an FCS team. There are plenty of low quality FCS teams that we could schedule here if we are looking for a cupcake win. (St. Francis, Morgan St., etc) Get your cupcake D1 wins in at leat one of you OAC home game so you don't get screwed when the playoff selection commitee makes their decision for whether or not you make the playoffs. NAIA and D2 schools cannont be scheduled anymore now that we are out of transition an playoff eligible.

I got a great idea. It is something that is used in every major sport at every level. Works pretty good....PLAYOFFS!!!!!!

Look at the original poll that darell1976 linked to and commented on. If you really want to comment on that poll and take it as being even close to accurate, by all means go ahead. But you are going to sound like an idiot defending the rankings in it.
-
So why post the rankings?? At this point they mean nothing. And can you really predict a score of a game based on how a team plays other teams throughout the season? I really hope you don't consider this site credibable because it deffinitely is not.
-
Are you really using this to determine how good our team, let alone any team is? No one has played any games yet. I mean come on. Did you look at where other teams are ranked? UND is ranked 112 and North Carolina is ranked 115!!! This ranking is obviously not updated yet or legit at all. Come on man!!!
-
Or the "it was exibition so it doesn't even count on our record" excuse.

Typical response to losing to an inferior opponent. Let me restate that a VERY inferrioir opponent. I guess losing to a d2 school doesn't really mean much to NDSU players, coaches, and their fans. If that is the case, that is pretty pathetic. Just face the facts. They played better and you lost. and maybe you aren't as good as you think they are this year. I cannot wait till we putt the beatdown on the Herd in January at the Ralph. Don't be suprised if you hear a "Moorhead State" chant a couple times that night!!
-
It was bad enough we had Bison fans on here...now we have to deal with Goofer fans now?? Go back to your shanty's!!!

Did you ever go to games in the Alerus from 2001 to about 2006? The place was packed. 11,000 plus. Students packed to the upper level. Students standing the entire game yelling at the top of their lungs every time the other team had the ball causing countless false start penalties. It was a great atmosphere for football. Obviously nothing like Wisconsin but still great. It was a place to watch great football played by a school with a rich tradition. Students have been interested for years. Because it is their school, their team. Trust me...I was there for those games and the atmosphere was great. Better that the new Ralph at the time. Yes, that's right. The atmosphere in the Alerus was better than the Ralph when they first opened. I have seen what type of atmosphere the Alerus was and I know that it can return to that. We just need fans to get interested in the team again. To be interested in football. And that starts with the students. The heart and soul of the fan base. These are your classmates, your friends playing. UND football will return to greatness again. We all need to support them and go to the games.

Here's a great idea to increase attendence at football games. Every home game, give a "free tuition for a semester" prize to students. Must be present to win and give it away at the end of the 3rd quarter. That way the students that come to the game wouldn't leave at halftime. If you were a student at the game, why would you leave?!!! They have done it before at women's hockey I think and that increased the attendance for that game. UND Athletic department pulls in enough money to be able to support that.

http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/219571/group/und%20sports/ Great news for anyone who is a Sioux football fan. This kid is going to be a great asset to our team. Looking at our quarterback play this year, he may compete for the starting roll as early as next year!!
-
The score was 16-6 at halftime. You can deffinitely blame a kid in this case!!
-
I was very impressed to see the student section full at the beginning of Saturday's homecomeing game agains Cal Poly. But was very dissapointed yet again to see 75% of the students leave at halftime. Yes we were losing, but it is not like we were getting blown out by 28 points!! We were down 10. We almost came back to tie it on the last drive!! I don't want to hear any excuses. This was the Homecoming game. It was a conference opponent that is an FCS school. Also a future Big Sky opponent. This is getting rediculous. Students...get your a$$es in the seats and support your school and your team. You are PATHETIC!!!
-
Looking forward to the tournament runs in 2013 and 2014. Imagine winning the Big Sky regular season. (Winner automatically hosts the Big Sky tournament). Just imagine counting down the seconds in the Betty (or Ralph) and rushing the floor as UND wins the Big Sky Tournament Championship and heads for the NCAA Tournament!!! COuld be a lofty prediction, but hey, it could happen!!

If you go on any roadtrip this year, may I suggest Duluth. Great town to visit, new arena which is right downtown with tons of stuff to do before and after the game. Plus we got a chance to put the hurt on the defending champs!! There are usually tons of Sioux fans there as well. I have been to other cities to watch the Sioux play on the road, but I have to say this is the best roadtrip. Looking forward to making that trip once again this year!

What percentage of students do not have a car and 5 bucks in their pocket? Bet its pretty high. Not a good excuse, sorry. If students can drive downtown on a Friday night and spend 40 bucks at Gilly's, they can drive a mile and a half to the Alerus and pay 5 bucks for parking. And its 5 bucks a car. So get 4 of your friends, grab a dollar and head to the game. Your tickets are free, so paying a dollar to go to a football game is a pretty good deal.
-
Well, if you buy a ticket for the game, you can sit in the student section if it is not full. I know people that do that all the time. If the students aren't going to sit there, someone should.

Guess what, Football is a great social even too. Tailgating 4 hours before the game is great. If you haven't checked it out, I strongly suggest you come out this Saturday. There is a Student tailgating section that you can take advantage off. You can walk around and there are people that will offer you food. there are always local businesses out there giving free food and other stuff away. Tailgating is the ultimate sports social event. Not sure why students don't see this. So if a great social event is what you are looking for, football on Saturdays is where it's at. Hope to see you and a thousand of your classmates out there this Saturday.
