You sure the rubes aren’t already in control for UND? Current leadership still has plenty to prove. Too much bureaucracy.
-
Nice reference. Bubba has improved UND football, but plateaued the past few seasons. One option is for new blood/brains for next step, but I hope Danny Freund can help take UND to next level as is.
-
Whoa … word distraction. DeBoer is a very good coach. Did same thing for Fresno State. UND and Faison missed in 2013.
-
You make a very convincing argument ….
-
UND program support is not at the same level of SDSU and NDSU, but working on it. And I think UND was almost “top 15” in 2022, but what happened in 2021? Or 2017? That was under Bubba’s watch and is unacceptable if you want to claim that UND is making progress towards the upper echelon. Inconsistency has been the issue. And getting back to support, letdowns kill momentum and that oh so very important support by laypersons.

If this happens, just shut it down.

This isn’t rocket science. Most professionals know what they’re worth, including those in the coaching profession. You get what you pay for. UND spends embarrassingly low amounts on basketball, improving amounts for football, and vast majority towards hockey, as we know. UND tried to circumvent the minimal spending issue by hiring from local DII - didn’t work, obviously, at least this time around.
-
It’s is possible - crazy, I know - that both Jones and Sather were/are not good coaches for UND. With that said, Jones at least had connections in Iowa for some talent. Sather has shown that his coaching and recruiting connections are both subpar.

UND treats its “division one” athletic programs like those of a middle school - everyone gets a participation ribbon and a pat on the back. Why would you ever want to hold the players and coaches to a high standard? I suppose because it might cost a few $$ and could hurt some feelings … Could just as well still be division II at this rate … extending losing coaches and being about as stagnant as possible during an otherwise typical cold slow winter in North Dakota. UND athletics has an opportunity to ignite interest and following during the dead of winter, but instead drops the ball on a consistent basis.

UND (6-8, 0-1) vs NDSU (3-11, 0-2) 12/30 7 PM
UND-FB-FAN replied to SWSiouxMN's topic in Men's Basketball
What should happen and what will happen - for both programs - are two different things. Need to get on the same page for success and good things to start happening for UND athletics. -

Yeah, I’ve said my piece … for now. -

Both have issues, and both are on the same path (i.e., need change to take next step). You’re trying to keep this facade going despite you missing the big picture. “Can’t talk to stupid people”. Good night. -
Probably Monday if Chaves worth a damn. He’ll have to admit to his mistake, though, given he hired Sather. Could see this disaster just continuing to season end.

Nah, you called me stupid for identifying both programs have issues. You’re worthless, but nice chat, like you said. -

If you’re pushing your narrative of blind support, then yes. -
UND (6-8, 0-1) vs NDSU (3-11, 0-2) 12/30 7 PM

You’re lost and apparently unable to face reality. UND football has had both a 3-8 and 5-6 season within the past 6 seasons and won only 1 playoff game over the past 15 seasons. UND is 1-9 vs NDSU and SDSU during the D1 era … They are regionally and nationally irrelevant. Need changes. Your bullsh*t narrative bandaid doesn’t change that. With all that said, basketball program is worse than football program, but both need change. -
UND (6-8, 0-1) vs NDSU (3-11, 0-2) 12/30 7 PM
UND-FB-FAN replied to SWSiouxMN's topic in Men's Basketball
The concern is a path of irrelevance, not which team is better. Essentially, both UND football/basketball are regionally and nationally irrelevant. -

UND-FB-FAN replied to SWSiouxMN's topic in Men's Basketball
Ha! I’m the stupid one? You should look in the mirror. UND has no use for people like you; you just provide excuses, which UND doesn’t need anymore of. UND football is a tetter-totter of irrelevance; accept it; winning season followed by a losing season. Back and forth: Irrelevant. NDSU and SDSU rule the roost. UND football has won one playoff game in the past 15 seasons… For all intents and purposes, UND football and basketball are on the same path. Did you get all that, stupid? -

UND-FB-FAN replied to SWSiouxMN's topic in Men's Basketball
Chaves has his own agenda. Conversations are limited, if not completely useless, per my personal experience. Maybe I’ll try again if UND football and basketball continue to go down the path of irrelevance. -
We’ll see what happens. I’m guessing the same thing as previous seasons. But it’s okay, within reason, to hope for a miracle.
-
Funny how it’s always offensive players? Defense is losing it.
-
In this era of transfer portal college football, UND having Bubba as head coach is a liability. Too old school and behind the times. Danny Freund is already doing his best to pick up the slack, but the defensive side of the ball is quickly falling behind. Change is needed for UND to take the next step.
-
2008 - Mussman 2013 - Bubba These critical DI UND football leadership moves have been disappointing. When will it be time for the next move? And will it be better executed?
-
Rightfully so. But, Faison went with the “solid choice” back in 2013 and here we are. Time marches on.
