  1. Rinse, lather, repeat. Average football. I’m sure I’m going to regret flying out to Boise, but trip already booked.
  2. Now I’ve contributed. We’ll all be okay and won’t have to cry ourselves to sleep now. sheesh
  3. UND football (and the athletic department as a whole) needs to reassess their expectations and philosophies, as do you your interpretation of them.
  4. Misplaced and irrelevant. Straw man at work.
  5. Most likely scenario is Bubba retires or moves on to a leadership position in the athletic department and Freund gets promoted to HC. Not sure when that will happen, or if Freund will be a major upgrade. If UND loses Freund before this happens because of Bubba and Chaves’ stubbornness, then UND will have to look elsewhere. As for inbreeding, this is definitely an issue. It’s been an issue for UND and Bubba. It’s potentially an issue with NDSU, but they’ve ultimately done fine with Entz and Roehl - back to back FCS championship games the past two seasons and one championship. UND football would kill for that, let’s be honest. NDSU does expectations/philosophy on a way different level than UND.
  6. They would. But it won’t come because which FBS program wants what Bubba brings to the table? None.
  7. Same to you. But you’ve oversimplified: NDSU’s FB budget isn’t exponentially greater than UND’s. Expectations and philosophy are independent of funding. UND lacks in these areas.
  8. I’d argue the best thing you can do for your staff is not handouts like Bubba is doing, but rather actually winning and then moving to a bigger program. See Craig Bohl to Wyoming and Chris Klieman to Kansas State. Now those resulting promotions are what helps the assistants … As someone else mentioned on here, UND football should *not* be the final destination for head coaches. It clearly is right now for Bubba, and that breeds the program’s staleness.
  9. His contract situation is perpetuated by UND AD, Chaves. It’s intentional, not an accident. Questions should be [rightfully] directed to him on what the true goals and expectations for UND FB are. They don’t seem too high based on timing of contract extensions. That is disappointing, and partial source of the impatience and frustration you cite.
  10. After a decade, he has failed at these goals. Perhaps he can self-scout and improve, but it is skeptical.
  11. Status quo under Bubba is always a safe bet. Vegas agrees. Boring (Bubba ball) football out of the Grand Forks as per usual. Change is overdue. Now, if you and I are wrong and UND is better than 3-3 after 6, then things are looking not so bad with old man Bubba’s program.
  12. Bingo
  13. Bonus? Next HC at UND? Bubba to AD or AA?
  14. The athletics priorities in GF and at UND are messed up. Been that way for a couple decades, at least. Culture change any other direction will take another couple decades.
  15. Wow, super clean. If only … Get on it, Coach Freund and Adidas.
  16. I agree with the last paragraph. Reach out and actuate. But, ultimately, the current UND efforts you outlined above aren’t enough on their own, as all of UND’s peer institutions - namely NDSU as well as SDSU - are doing the exact same functions as UND, and then some. Difference being those institutions don’t need to fund DI hockey …
  17. Agree with the majority of this. In short, to get UND football better as soon as possible: -complete state-of-the-art facilities for coaches and student-athletes ASAP to try compensate for the geography challenges - pay coaches better; but ultimately, need more funding for football specifically - agree with recruiting Winnipeg, but also all of Canada, better - lastly, Bubba is a great guy, many are friends of his, but ultimately, nice guys don’t always finish first in the race. Decision-making in critical moments and leadership of men matters in D1 college football.
  18. Very true, at least personally that is the case. Overall direction of UND athletics with its current leadership structure is a concern. What are the expectations and priorities for UND athletics and UND football with the current leadership? Furthermore, personality type matters when it comes to person-to-person interactions.
  19. Incredibly
  20. Correct. Last night I roofied myself, woke up in a hotel room alongside a fully grown bengal tiger, found out I was newly married and missing a tooth, and had put a small Asian man in my trunk … … actually, wait, that may just be the plot of a film I recently watched.
  21. I’m not the only one, but I’m glad you’re so adept at reading between the lines.
  22. A championship-caliber winning football program that supporters and fans can be proud of. NDSU has completely sucked the region dry of such other than the occasional diehards, like those on this site.
  23. Oh … is that right? You can stop glamorizing over graph trends and trajectories. No upward trajectory for UND, at least based on recent trends. UND athletics have been behind the 8-ball ever since going up to DI. I don’t expect the hockey first model to change, but I don’t agree with it. If there’s a model program out there in FCS with a hockey-first mindset, let me know. UNH and Maine aren’t exactly top tier …
  24. Not commonplace for a division I college football QB … good for Schuster
  25. ^ Case in point …
