  1. I think those three posters, myself included, are probably a sample of the biggest UND football fans. None of them are sucking up to the coaches or the program, and are certainly not content with .500 football. If you ask me, UND football would be in a lot better place if the masses actually thought this way and weren’t accepting of perennial .500 football in Grand Forks.
  2. News alert: UND wants to force a turnover. I’m glad. I hope to see several forced turnovers by UND defense/special teams on 10/29/22.
  3. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/college/no-23-und-focusing-on-turnovers-ahead-of-matchup-with-abilene-christian?fbclid=IwAR0QO6iiRmpXQsifZrRfQpwZS67f0cIQvDnIj-07JAjslvkiTIjqV_kaS8k this is embarrassing, Not the article, but the fact it took a loss to reignite this focus for Bubba and his coaching staff? Turnovers should be the focus before every game. Hell, read my pregame SDSU comments on here and you’ll see I said the team that protects the ball the best will win. That’s not rocket science, it’s true for every game.
  4. They were all bad plays. Very bad. Not championship football caliber, that’s for damn sure.
  5. Abilene Christian’s most recent game: a win versus Southern Utah.
  6. Need someone in charge who both likes their job and is good at it. It’s hard to find that for the Alerus Center in the context of football production/entertainment. UND and the Alerus Center need to put their money where their mouth is and get it done, but ultimately, they just don’t seem to care. They have no pride and are fine half-assing everything. But, when it comes to REA, UND and hockey … good lord
  7. Going from 5-2 (spring 2021) to 5-6 (fall 2021) was a major momentum killer for the program. Can’t blame that all on 3 players not returning, particularly when UND still had a future NFL offensive lineman on the team. Bubba did the same thing from 2016 to 2017. Keeps sending UND football backwards and is why the program fails to ascend. Leadership is flawed for UND football. Not to the level it needs to be to get UND from a contender to a champion.
  8. Yep, the band antics are cringeworthy. But not as cringeworthy as the overall lapses the Alerus Center puts forth. Completely amateur at best.
  9. Don’t know how many times they practiced that bubble screen, but I do know they didn’t execute it well on Saturday and the botched result was a major momentum swing given UND was up 14-0 and had the ball … Need to do better. Next opportunity is against ACU on 10/29/22.
  10. That Covid-19 season was a unique one. Very unfortunate UND didn’t carry over the momentum to the 2021 fall season, considering majority of team returned. In my opinion, that was an absolute travesty in terms of coaching blunders.
  11. Bottom line is UND football still fully controls their destiny.
  12. You’re right. After his first 9 seasons (1997-2005) at SDSU, his best season was 8-3 in 1999. Also, for what it’s worth, although SDSU has a very good team this year, I’m not sure copying them is the best blueprint. They’ve won just as many FCS national championships as UND football.
  13. Fair point. But when is the expectation going to be to win the MVFC? When does that time come? Honestly, I think apathy is a component here. Not entirely, but it’s present. At some point, there’s no better time than the present. With Bubba for the past 9 seasons, we’ve just kept kicking the can down the road, waiting for someone to gift us rather than us taking it ourselves.
  14. After the snafu yesterday during the intro video, I figured the team would !@#$ the bed - it was only fitting. And I agree with @geaux_sioux, the team takes on the attitude of the head coach. Bubba let his team down in the second half. Not all his fault, but certainly shares some of it. Comes with the title of head ball coach.
  15. 6-5: out 7-4: in 8-3: definitely in, would be ranked top 20 with NDSU win
  16. Many areas that can be improved still, no doubt. Laziness and ineptitude continues to be a concern.
  17. Go 7-4 and UND is in. Beat Fargo U and go 8-3 and UND is definitely in. I do worry about the next 3 games, though; Bubba ball has proven we likely will slip up somewhere down the line and go 6-5, missing the playoffs and continuing mediocrity. We will see. I’ll be supporting the squad down the road. Will you all? (I expect the answer to be yes, given the audience on this forum is the diehards, but the fair weather fans need more).
  18. 3rd quarter was trash. Blame starts and ends there. UND had a great opportunity, but needs to improve in order to cash in. Still opportunity this season, as you say. Players, coaches, and even the fan base needs to step up, support and expect a winning championship program, and put their money where their mouth is. That’s my 2 cents. Go Hawks!
  19. Agree with all of this except the last line. A win over the #1 team would’ve been way more fun.
  20. It’s a miracle!! We should be celebrating [sarcasm]
  21. UND defense in second half was outmatched, yes, but UND offense giving the ball away and UND defense not taking the ball away hurt. I think it is as much on UND not getting the job done as it is SDSU being a talented team and getting the job done. UND showed in the first half they have the players to get it done if they execute. Ultimately too many mistakes. Sloppy ugly second half performance.
  22. Too many Turnovers. Major missed opportunity … again. Rinse and repeat. Regression to the mean. We are who we are with the current setup. On to ACU on 10/29/22…
  23. Ouch. That sucked. Way too many turnovers for UND. Defense couldn’t contain SDSU. That game, particularly the second half, sucked. UND still isn’t top tier, which was the question. It’s been answered. Way of the land under Bubba.
