  1. A flight risk? That's where you're wrong. The reason Mussman's teams were horrible were due to selfish players that didn't care about the team and tradition of UND football. They left as soon as things didn't go their way. Bubba and his staff are recruiting players that are actually committed to THE University of North Dakota; that is, they will stick it out and be apart of the family. If anyone can't do that, then they shouldn't be on the team in the first place. It's about what's best for the TEAM, not individuals.
  2. NDSU has a tremendous DI football program. With that said, you can't rewrite over a 100 years of tradition and history in just 10 years. UNI and SDSU are not the biggest rivals for NDSU. UND (Grand Forks) and NDSU (Fargo) will always be each-others number 1 rival.
  3. With all due respect to the student-athlete, Hanson is not a capable player. He's not even close to a DI QB. He's more of a local relations player due to his Grafton roots. I'm guessing Bubba and his staff have absolutely no confidence in Hanson's ability, and quite frankly, I don't blame them. If Bartels can't go, Srudsrud should be the guy. You ALWAYS play the best and ALWAYS try to win. It's not fair to the seniors to play an incapable player if he's not the best on the roster. As Bubba has said, you always do whats best for the TEAM! Not individuals.
  4. 2:20 mark
  5. Doesn't hurt to talk about playoffs while UND still had a "shot". Yes, it was a long-shot, but still a chance for a UND squad very few thought would win over 3 games. If UND finishes .500, then that's still a good season in that the team has improved and Bubba has the team in position to continue improving.
  6. Agreed. As for playoffs, that goal now transfers over to the 2015 season.
  7. The team has fallen to 3-5 (1-3 BSC), but yet, they still are in the hunt to go 0.500. Considering the personnel that Bubba and his staff are dealing with (backups all of the last season, for the most part), I'd say Bubba has done a good job thus far. Also, UND has already matched their win total from last year. Although yesterday's game was very disappointing, I do agree that its important to emphasize this program IS going in the right direction. Regarding specific moments in the game, I look back real early in the game to the 4th down (game was 0-0) that UND attempted to convert on offense. If UND has a capable line, they get that 2 yards or so and convert. That keeps momentum going for UND. Instead, Norberg basically lost a yard. Point is, UND can get a lot better simply through recruiting more depth and talent, and thankfully, Bubba is already doing that.
  8. This team has the road game blues UND at home is way different than UND on the road. Defense played bad. Offense was mistake filled. No playoffs this year.
  9. Damn
  10. Oh boy
  11. Insert Bartels and immediate productivity with a 20 yd pass and catch. I'm afraid I'm continuing to lean towards Bartels as the better QB.
  12. What SUU lacks in a stadium they make up for in scenery; Cedar City has one heck of a view.
  13. Yes it is. Kickoff is 2 PM CT
  14. Beating a #2 EWU club and finishing with 8 wins would draw a top-20 ranking. That would place UND into the playoff field; simple as that. UND would either be the 3rd or 4th BSC team in.
  15. UND 20 SUU 7
  16. Would think that's an advantage for the team that can best run the ball and stop run....
  17. The floor will be "below grade"; is actually cheaper as the ground thus acts as insulation.
  18. Here is the simple way of looking at things: if UND runs the table and defeats #2 EWU (if they don't lose this weekend @NAU), they will be a top-20 ranked team that will thus get into the playoff field. Depending how MSU and Montana finish the season, UND could even end up ahead of either MSU or Montana, despite losing the head-to-head. Of course, that's what a hypothetical 6 game winning streak would do.
  19. If Sharp doesn't get on the field this year, hard to say he ever will, and that has to do more with the RB depth than anything.
  20. If UND's offensive line is opening up holes, it would be great to just rotate 3 backs (Norberg, Shaugabay, and Garman) and continually pound the ball. If UND can do that, they'll win this game. As for Patrick Sharp, I'm not sure why he hasn't got his chance yet. He may be a little green when it comes to the playbook and/or they don't trust his ball protection skills. Just taking a guess....
  21. Last time UND defeated SUU in Cedar City was 2011 and UND's running game went off with Jake Miller. Same thing has to happen for UND to win this Saturday; UND has to be able to run the ball because it will help out the defense against a pass happy, rhythm-emphasized offense of SUU. Also, of course, running the ball effectively prevents turnovers and results in touchdowns. Have to hope SUU's defense won't be as stout as most of the defenses UND has faced thus far. Judging off SUU's last game, where Idaho State scored 56 -albeit mostly through the air, SUU doesn't appear to have a juggernaut defense.
  22. We understand you're one of those people who thinks NDSU is untouchable. Too bad that's not reality buddy.
  23. Solid point. Best stick with Mollberg then as he is the named starter. Need consistency at that position.
  24. You're right, they aren't.
  25. NDSU football has proven to be damn good, but Big Ten powerhouses like Michigan State are a whole other cookie.
