I was incredibly impressed with him during the UND-USD game. Yes he made some bad decisions in the pass game, but man is he tough. He did make some nice throws though and the USD coaches could've helped him out a bit more towards the end, too.
-
Yeah, under 6 foot wouldn't be ideal. I think UND needs to start recruiting bigger QBs, eventually. Imagine a Streveler type of QB under center for UND (similar size and athleticism but better decision-making, of course).
-
Hopefully, by that time, the change won't affect UND as they'll be a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Whether we like to readily admit it or not, UND should be playing NDSU, South Dakota, and South Dakota State every season -- it needs to happen sooner rather than later.

No, top 8 teams (out of field of 24) are guaranteed a second-round home playoff game. Remaining 16 teams yield 8 first-round games. Home team for those are based on bids and the matchups are based on regionalization. Apply those rules to last year's bracket: http://www.ncaa.com/interactive-bracket/football/fcs It's interesting to look at the first round games and see who outbid who. SUU won the Big Sky Conference last season but didn't get a top 8 seed (that went to Portland State, who UND defeated); SUU was outbid by Sam Houston State and the matchup was played there.
-
9,600 for a homecoming game featuring UND ranked and unbeaten in conference? I'd bet a fair amount against that prediction. Alerus Center will have at least 10,000, maybe 11,000.
-
I would like to think UND could outbid SDSU, but hard to say. Largely depends on anticipated attendance; SDSU having an outdoor venue could negatively impact attendance.
-
At home, UND should be able to score plenty against their porous defense and get plenty of defensive pressure on NAU's QB. No reason to be scared of that game at this point.
-
I agree. It's very difficult to watch.
-
You have to start somewhere. What did NDSU hosting that first playoff game do for them moving forward? Looking big picture, hosting playoff games and winning those playoff games can grow fan support by a bunch.
-
You are right. I should have specified as a second round matchup. Last year the MVFC all ended up on the same side of the bracket which caused a huge uproar. If UND wins out and goes 9-2 (8-0), I think they have an outside chance at one of the last ranked seed (#7 or #8). Depends on what other BSC teams, like Montana and EWU, end up doing record-wise.
-
I'd rather take Montana at their place than NDSU in Fargo, but it is almost a toss-up.
-
With that said, I could see a UND @ Montana first round playoff game this season. Nevertheless, I hope UND can pull out a top 8 seed or, at the very least, can host a first round game in the Alerus Center. Hosting playoff games has the potential to grow fan support tremendously.
-
I don't think so, based on how the attendance has been going. The Cal Poly game had over 10,000 attendees despite beet harvest costing attendance quite a bit. I expect at least 10,000 again for the SUU game and possibly over 11,000. Remember, it's homecoming and UND has won 4 in a row.
-
Outdoor venue during November and December doesn't help, I'd imagine.
-
UND could outbid SDSU -- no use being so pessimistic with nothing to go off of but pure speculation. UND put in a very healthy bid last season while SDSU was outbid by Montana.
-
Man, something of dreams that would be! Would be tremendous.
-
UND took care of business like we expect a well-run UND team to do to a team like Sac State - congrats Bubba and team! Now into a big one at the Alerus for homecoming! Pack the place and let's be loud for the defense! SUU is no slouch; they are having a good season too.
-
40-7 Final Impressive final score but still a lot of things for this team to work on (ball security, punt return, passing game, etc.) I now await the word on the health of several key players. Big one next week against Southern Utah for homecoming. Pack the Alerus and be loud! UND is 3 - 0 in conference play!
-
Sloppy 2nd half for offense. Not good.
-
And now Reyes is hurt. Bad bad luck. Damn. Have to question why these players still playing.
-
Now Stockwell is injured. Hope for the best.
-
Oliveira needs to learn how to hold onto the damn ball. That holds him back from getting a ton of carries if UND has options. He fumbled in the redzone last week.
-
I agree. Let him rest it up some and give Gordon 10-15 carries in 2nd half.
-
Damn. Injuries keep piling up for offensive line. Good thing is Patric Rooney should be available next week vs SUU.
