  1. They're coming next season for UND.
  2. That sounds logical to me. And perhaps hire a CB coach. This is where coaching salary again comes into play.
  3. UND's support of football needs to improve. It is better than when Mussman was coaching, mainly through requests made by Bubba, but there still needs to be more improvements. Coaching salary and general athletic department coverage/support is lacking. I understand that UND can be successful at both football and hockey, but as of now, UND's support is still not evenly distributed between the two (not even close). Faison and the athletic department are the largest component in this issue/dynamic. Having an $100 million hockey facility is blinding to many; however, it just can't be anymore. It's time to begin focusing more on the primary sports of U.S. collegiate athletics: football and basketball.
  4. Receiver is a weak spot in my opinion, also. The freshmen already committed look good at WR, but I still think another top WR prospect is necessary to add; even another RB. Bottom line, the skill positions are not set yet, including defense (defensive back).
  5. Bartels hasn't started a game at home yet this season; coaches must be hoping that will make a difference, and I think it might. Also, Montana's States defense is not anything special. If Bartels cant move the ball against Montana State at home, then he is not capable and either Mollberg or Studsrud needs to start the remaining 2 games (vs Northern Colorado, @ Cal Poly). Also, I think UND really needs to look at bringing in a top QB recruit or transfer this off-season; I have a real hard time seeing that position group as set.
  6. Then put someone in that can. Rudolph has been a part of "one and a half" offseasons; bring in a QB who can get the job done if you don't think the others can. He is the QB coach for crying out loud! He should assess these kids and get/choose one to perform. It's his job! Call plays that support their strengths, such as quick passes to TEs and FBs and screens to the quick WRs and RBs in space. The lack of adjustments out of the offensive playbook thus far is discouraging. I hope to see a better performance via BOTH better play-calling and better execution this weekend against Montana State. I agree the players need to execute better, but as the offensive coordinator, it is Rudolph's job to recruit capable players during the recruiting process and then develop them.
  7. Keaton Studsrud was a true freshman when he started; not the case with the other three.
  8. Quite the experience, huh? St. Cloud State and Minot State? That's a lack of DI experience. Rudolph is a problem in my opinion. If UND finds a way to consistently win with Rudolph calling plays and coaching the QBs, it will certainly be in spite of him. Need to recruit some really good offensive players in order to overcome the coaching ineptitude on offense.
  9. Absolutely. UND was close this season, which means UND might be "there" next season. This team is young, so continual improvement should be readily seen over the next couple seasons. Also, have to imagine depth will get better with the incoming 2016 recruiting class.
  10. Studsrud went 4-1 as the starter and it would have been 5-1 if he didn't exit against Idaho State; yet, you are now saying he is not good enough? He can improve during the offseason, you know? Do you think the receivers can improve too?
  11. Your opinion is a safe one; hard to imagine Mollberg would play much worse than Bartels did against Montana. With that said, Mollberg's mobility may be significantly impaired, despite what some say on this board. The staff thought a lot of Mollberg last year for him to be named the starter over Bartels, so why did Bartels win the backup job over Mollberg this season? Seems to me that Mollberg just ain't the same ol' gunslinger some on this board thinks he is. Even with that, though, Bartels hasn't impressed and he may lose his spot because of it.
  12. So you know more than the coaches? Good to know.
  13. If you can't pass protect or get separation as a wide receiver, then it doesn't matter what pass play you call. Wide receiving corps is unspectacular. With that said, Bartels was late with throws and that is never a good trait when the pass protection is limited. His time as a starter is done as far as I can tell. It's either Mollberg or Studsrud now.
  14. The truth is what it is. May be opening the door for Mollberg to get a start if Studsrud can't go against Montana State.
  15. I didn't vote for it, but I certainly won't be bitter if it wins the majority again. In fact, I may switch my vote for it this second time around. The potential logo could be neat.
  16. Let's go Hawks! University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks!
  17. Yesterday's game was bad. There's no need to sugarcoat it. It was a blowout in a big venue, which hurts UND's already-minimal reputation within the Big Sky Conference. It was a crucial game that negatively affects UND's playoff chances, if not eliminating them altogether. It was a game that exposed several players on UND's roster as questionable and perhaps not viable in Bubba's future plans. With that said, I like to think of myself as a realist, and right now, UND football has not hit a wall. In my opinion, Bubba still has UND football on track to be a top Big Sky Conference program as soon as next season. Here's why: Bubba has not even been UND's head coach for 2 years. He has had a limited opportunity to bring in "his" players from high school programs and develop them. Yes, there has been several transfers from FBS and JUCO programs, but I do not count them because they are "stop-gap" players who do not redshirt and go through the program/process. The players that Bubba has recruited out of the high school (last two recruiting classes) are already some of the best players on the team. Players like John Santiago, Keaton Studsrud, Brady Olivera, Elijah Grady, Luke Stanley, Austin Cieslak, Tank Harris, Deion Harris, Brandon Dranka, and Drew Greely. Just imagine what this team will look like after a season or two. Also, the depth on this team is nearly non-existent. Several players who are seeing the field right now due to injuries are not good enough. That will change in another season or two. UND under Bubba continues to develop the local walk-on program, and with that, depth and talent will continue to develop and grow. Injuries have affected this team more than many like to admit to, but without depth, its just a fact. UND has very few capable backups. For those who like to debate it, I'll give my opinion: Keaton Studsrud is far and away the best quarterback on the roster; his athleticism is top-notch. DO NOT discount the ability of a QB to run for 100 yards in a game - that opens up A LOT. He will get better in the passing game with experience (has two more seasons after this season) and better WR play. I want to see improvement as bad as anyone, and in my opinion, its there; unfortunately, its just tough to see sometimes when both close games and blowouts present themselves within conference play. But, lets not forget that UND is 4-4 (2-3) after 8 games. Last season, UND was 3-5 (1-3) after 8 games. That's factual improvement, but also, the team has improved in other aspects. I honestly think this team will be even better next season, and as a result, playoffs should be a real possibility next season. Bubba continues to recruit and develop local high school recruits, and that will ultimately be the factor that builds UND into a top Big Sky Conference program. In a year or two, when UND's lineup exclusively consists of players developed by UND's program, I expect a lot of wins each and every season. This a very young team that is already having some success, so we know how that usually works out. The future is still bright.
  18. Nice showing by our "#1" defense here on national television? Oh, and Rudolph is the QB whisperer? Need better players in the secondary and a different QB and/or offensive coordinator/QB coach. This game is piss poor and an embarrassment. Absolutely ruining my Saturday.
  19. I think we need to be pissed with some reports given on this board. Obviously Mollberg is not ready to go in terms of his health.
  20. Seibel screws up on punt Same !@#$ over and over again. Is this coaching staff sleeping over on the sideline? This is getting old.
  21. It's time for a switch. If they don't make it, then Mollberg just isn't healthly despite reports we've heard.
  22. Alright. Make the switch at halftime. Mollberg needs to get his shot.
  23. I hate listening to these announcers. they have a heavy Montana bias
