  1. Taking away players from an offense that already is anemic as can be would not be a good idea. If anything, the UND offense should gain players from the defensive side of the ball.

    2018 Season

Oh I’m sure UND hockey will have a specific show because, well, Grand Forks and this region is screwed up when to comes to priorities.
  3. The point made is still fair. Oliveira and Johannesson have the body types and running styles to be more “traditional” backs which obviously fits better with Rudolph’s “traditional” offense. Santiago is awesome when breaking big runs out in the open but leaves much more to be desired when running up the gut in a crowd (which Rudolph calls often). This is why everyone on here has called for Santiago to be used out wide some with #5 or #33 in the backfield. Santiago’s body type and ability could be better utilized with this.
  4. RT and UND f’d up in 2003. No protective argument from me.
  5. If UND loses to both Montana and Weber State at home at the Alerus Center then UND doesn’t deserve to be in the playoffs. Period. If UND somehow got in after that, UND would just get blown out in the first round. You know, these records are meant to show you deserve to be in the postseason. At 7-4 UND wouldn’t deserve to be in the postseason in my opinion. The 2015 7-4 situation was different as it had “quality wins” but also had “bad loses”. So far UND’s only potential “bad loss” is Idaho State, but so far so good.
  6. 7-4 ain’t sh*t win ‘em all Hawks

    2018 Season

If UND really wants to jump up in the polls, Weber State in the Alerus Center would be the game to win. Win out I say ... 9-2 would look nice. Montana next up though. One game at a time.

    2018 Season

It appears we can't win at the Alerus Center. So much for home field advantage. Maybe UND should just schedule every game on the road?
  9. What’s funny is NDSU (when Bohl was HC) had losing seasons before finally striking it big in 2011. Point being a single big recruiting class can make the difference. Now, after years of winning, NDSU simply has better players than their opponents. Their coaches aren’t slouches though. UND has some deficiency at both coaching and player levels. Just like NDSU in 2011, though, a single talented recruiting class at UND could change the trajectory for years to come.
  10. I like the Fighting Hawks. I like the logo. I like the mascot. I think Grand Forks hockey is overrated. Go UND
  11. At the end of a UND running play, he threw an unnecessary dead ball block on a UNC defender that was called a personal foul.

    On to Bye

#1 Why not just crown UND now for handling the formidable 0-4 (now 0-5) Northern Colorado Bears?
  13. Second Half Summary: UND scores 14 points in 2nd half; Northern Colorado scores 6 points. UND won the second half, but as has been the trend this season, the second half was far uglier than the first half. Positives: - Defense did their job to start 3rd quarter. They continually got stops. Good job with second half adjustments and coming out ready to play. - Runningbacks Oliviera and James Johannesson both ran hard and with good vision in the second half. Nice job by those two running the ball. - Nice to see receiver Cam McKinney get involved some in the running game with jet sweeps; he has the speed to make it work well and compliment the inside the running game. - Defense applied good pressure throughout second half. Nice to see interception from safety Jordan Canady. - Only one completion in the second half but it was a nice throw by Ketteringham and nice catch by Toivonen on third down to keep drive alive. - Very nice punt and punt coverage in 4th quarter to down ball inside the 10 yard line to back up UNC (ball downed at 8 yard line). - Nice to see good effort from true freshman runningback Otis Weah; he scored a touchdown on a nice physical run today. Negatives: - PENALTIES ALL GAME! In second half, false start on OL Nathan Nguon on second and short is not acceptable. - I don't like the toss play on third and short; use James Johannesson downhill, not out wide with toss. - Poor throw by Ketteringham on quick out route on 3rd and 1; also interception that was batted by defensive lineman was poor. Can't have turnovers when trying to put the other team away! Same thing happened last week against Idaho State. This UND team needs to develop better killer instinct. - Defense did not play well following the second half UND turnover (interception). The defense has been particularly susceptible on the ground following turnovers. UND needs to not turn ball over but defense also needs to be ready to go and be more stout against inside running game. - Scoreless 3rd quarter was not ideal. - Poor defensive effort by UND with backups in during final UNC drive; they gave up a TD to UNC. Nice to see UND 2nd stringers stop the 2 point conversion though.
  14. Dumb penalty by Mason Bennett. This team has made so many dumb mistakes/penalties today it’s scary. Need way better discipline from Bubba and his staff.
  15. The discipline of the team has been bad today. I’m disappointed in this. Bubba and his players need to step it up in that department.
  16. 1 touchdown in the second half now ... I’ll take it ... better than 0
  17. Yeah it’s a bad one ... offense tends to go to sleep in the second half
  18. Exactly. This is the issue. Put #33 in the I formation and run downhill ... NOT A TOSS OR A THROW
  19. This team desperately needs to develop a killer instinct. This is an opportunity to develop that - let's see it Bubba ....
  20. First Half Summary: Obviously, given halftime score of UND 24 UNC 7, UND has far more positives than negatives in first half. UND needs to continue their effort into the second half of this game. They have had poor second halves this season thus far. Positives: - Quarterback Ketteringham has played very well. 8/12 for 111 yards passing and two rushing touchdowns. To start game had nice play-action pass to Wanzek on 1st down and real beautiful throw to Toivonen over the middle for 22 yards. Ketteringham had smart 12 yard run on 3rd and long to get what he could and not force it. In goal line situation, Ketteringham is 2/2 for 2 TDs on inside QB runs. He has a nose for the end zone in those situations (4 rushing TDs on season thus far). - Runningback James Johannesson is running very well. He needs more carries. I understand Santiago is out, but JJ #33 just adds so much physicality to the offense and better aids the vanilla style of Rudolph's offense. On first drive he had nice runs between the tackles. He also subsequently even ran well on toss plays out of I formation. He blocked really well for McKinney on jet sweep as well. - WRs Toivonen and Wanzek have been reliable as receivers on short and intermediate routes. Keep it up. - Happy to see kicker Brady Leach make his field goal attempt on first drive. Very good confidence builder for him and gave UND 3-0 lead to start game. - Nice coverage by corner Evan Holm on deep throw by UNC - Defensive End Mason Bennett is playing unbelievably well. He can't be blocked. He has continually rushed the QB and has got a sack. - Safety Jordan Canady made nice play on short throw in first half; almost intercepted by him - Linebacker Tanner Palmborg did real nice job recognizing WR screen play and blowing it up - good awareness by him - Good job by UND special teams on muffed punt play - they were alert and jumped on the ball for key recovery - Brady Oliveria is doing well also running the ball; I've just been more impressed with James Johannesson - Offensive line doing nice job on counters with pulling guards getting out in front Negatives: - TOO MANY PENALTIES; need to clean it up and be more disciplined - c'mon Bubba and staff, get these guys ready to play clean - can't hold on first kick return of game; need better discipline on special teams #50 - HORRIBLE SNAPS by the center (Patric Rooney) on first drive; it has been cleaned up now it appears. It led to UND needing to settle for FG on first drive, though. - Poor tackling at times; on UNC's lone TD drive, the defense did awful job in positioning and tackling as UNC ran right down the field. It was subsequently cleaned up. Good job on that. - Offensive PI by James Johannesson on 3rd offensive drive hurt; need to be smart; he'd be better if got more playing time - c'mon Rudolph and Bubba play the talented kid more - Pass Interference by #20 Lenny Nelson took away interception by #12 Blublaugh; need to clean that up - DUMB DUMB penalty by Ketteringham on Johannesson run attempt. He needs to play smart and not hurt team with dead ball personal foul like that. Only mistake he made the entire first half, so, all in all, anyone hating on Ketteringham needs to use their head and wise up. He's a good QB for UND.
  21. All comes down to running game. If UND runs the ball well - UND wins If Northern Colorado stops the run, UND throws ugly incompletions and interceptions, UNC wins and UND needs new football leadership
  22. Yep ... the reality of UND’s loss to Idaho State
