  1. UND already has “lifers” at hockey, football and basketball. For UND hockey, that’s fine. But if that is the case for football and basketball, you get what you are currently seeing: mediocre play that bigger schools don’t touch. UND needs young up and comers with tremendous potential for their football and basketball programs. It’s the only way.
  2. They didn’t mention it, because it’s not a good situation to expand on. So UND is down to their 3rd, possibly 4th or 5th, option at QB. Not good, certainly not great. But “it’ll be fine” and “the sun will still come up”. Blah, blah, blah. I’ve heard it before. The mediocrity continues. Perhaps. Damn. !@#$ NDSU.
  3. That’s neat. I prefer to not keep my head stuck in the sand. NDSU’s success affects UND’s success. North Dakota is only so big. But you can maintain your ignorance if it makes you feel better.
  4. He can lead UND to their first FCS championship. Fargo is on the downfall with Clown Dufus now leading NDSU’s program.
  5. Like I said, asshole U right in northside Fargo, where the cows roam.
  6. All based on blocking UND. NDSU is asshole central. Can someone sabatoge their !@#$ anytime soon?
  7. Sure it’s complicated, but it’s doable for anyone truthfully determined to do so. Find more money (donors, budget reallocation, etc.) and don’t pay such binding contracts to unproven coaches. The whole mess is unfortunate despite the classic “responsibility and complication argument”.
  8. Spot on. Its the non-hockey sports plan that just plain stinks. It needs to improve or else UND’s DII tradition of excellence will suffer horribly in the relatively-new DI era. These two points from your post absolutely stab me where it hurts the most: I also believe Buning deserves at least some of the blame for Dale Lennon leaving UND for Southern Illinois in December 2007, just as we were embarking on our Division I transition period. I honestly believe that Lennon got sick and tired of the lack of resources being allocated for the football program and wanted to go someplace where football wasn’t a red-headed stepchild to the fair-haired boy on campus (hockey). I think a little extra money might have kept him here. But we were just too cheap to come up with it. And the program really suffered as a result · Losing Lennon contributed to the ultimate disaster of the transition period; losing to Sioux Falls College (an NAIA program at the time) at home in 2009. And the fact that the game wasn’t even close made it even harder to swallow. This loss hurt the reputation of the program and really soured the fan base on the program. I believe it is, without question, the worst loss in program history. And I believe we still, to this day, haven’t totally recovered from it. The current level of funding for football is still not at a level that will allow UND to compete at the level they did within DII. It hurts immensely. Shortage of funding and expectations hurts.
  9. I posted this in the Coach Jones thread over in men’s basketball, but it applies to UND athletics as a whole. Here it is again: UND’s inability to hold coaches to a high standard is hurtful to UND athletics. There has to be a willingness to fire after unmet expectations or else the standard suffers horribly. I’m sick of the culture UND has right now. It is a DII mindset within DI sports

  11. I’m at the point where I wouldn’t even mind a successful DIII coach. It’s just time for leadership change.
  12. Ha! It will be good. Although I wouldn’t be upset if Freund loaded up on QBs - including even a transfer - to get the most out of that position. More competition is always needed at that position. Good QB play usually equals plenty of wins.
  13. Not relevant on the national scene? Really? UND was a seeded playoff seed in 2016. But yes, NDSU would do what was mentioned: offer merely to follow and block UND's recruiting targets. That is the low scum they are.
  14. Drug test the ag school QB's much? better start apparently ... Not sure why QB recruits would want to be a part of that toxic culture over in Fargo.
  15. Oh great. Once again, I hate those motherf*ckers from Fargo so much.
  16. UND men's basketball stinks. New leadership, please. Thanks.

    2019 Season

Damn. Losing DL coach Jordan Gigli. That hurts. Was a good coach and recruiter. Back to the interview game for open positions again ... Pay the assistant coaches more money! Easier said than done, but huge need ... Not necessary the factor here either with Gigli’s connections to new NIU coach.
  18. And why should I care what you think? You’re an NDSU fan - that says it all.
  19. Awesome outing for him. He’ll get a shot. He’s a versatile back which is exactly what the pass-happy NFL looks for these days. Seeing the catches though just again reminds me how his talent wasn’t fully utilized at UND. Paul Rudolph has to be one of the worst coaches in UND football history; I’m sorry.
  20. !@#$ NDSU hate those bastards Brian Jones still needs to go
  21. Officials have been horribly one sided with calls for NDSU. Damn refs
  22. No, NDSU SDSU and USD are protected opponents meaning UND plays them every season starting in 2020.

    2019 Season

Recruiting season still. Have to hope for some more big name commits, specifically at QB, skill position, NT, and LB, before signing day.
