  1. Since 2014 (Bubba’s first season as head coach), including this season and assuming no playoffs, UND has made the playoffs three times (.375) and won one playoff game out of four (0.25). Those averages do not meet expectations. Who is held accountable? Or, is no one held accountable because the expectations are “soft” for UND football?
  2. Frustrating that this team’s “killer instinct” regressed from the spring to the fall. I think the leadership tactics, both players and coaches, could have been better. Definitely unique situation, but possible the strategy taken to transition from spring to fall was the wrong one.
  3. Tough situation not having the resources; that is, both the donors and, as such, UND football. Makes it harder for Bubba. Gotta do well with what you got. What is the expectation for UND football internally and externally? That is not always clear.
  4. He’s almost certainly gone. He’s slotted in the draft, round 5-6, don’t risk injury. great to see und have this kind of talent on team finally. Need more of it, quite frankly
  5. The 10/2/21 UND-NDSU game should show everybody what the Alerus Center atmosphere and home field advantage can be. Question is, how do you keep it there all season long? two major components, in my opinion: wins and presentation/effort put forth by UND and Alerus staff. Ya’ll can argue about how much each is weighed.
  6. Screw ndsu and the “team they want to be”. Their heads are so big down in Fargo, they can’t walk straight. UND needs to get their sh*t together and beat those punks. For 2021, looking like a long shot, as likely UND won’t make playoffs. But 2022…
  7. Hey folks, UND won and NDSU lost. Good day.
  8. Shaky win, cementing what I think of this team (average at best), but a win is a win. UND continues to be tough at home in Alerus Center.
  9. Bubba Schweigert interviewed “well” and sold Brian Faison. Also Bubba had support from backers who recognized his name and put up the $ to buy out Mussman. Ultimately, UND ignored a chance to go big time with the hire of a proven winner (Kalen DeBoer) in order to keep the inbred coaching tree intact with Schweigert’s return.
  10. This is correct. I agree with this take. UND beats YSU. Average football and Grand Forks go together like salt and pepper.
  11. Extremely hypothetical, but I’ll bite: Would UND be 8-0? No Would UND be 3-5? No. They would be somewhere in between, because with matchups against NDSU, USD, SIU, and MSU, there are wins to be had if the team is more focused and better instructed. I’d go with 5-3 if they had a “Saban” staff …
  12. This 2021 team sucks. Cold hard truth. Under Bubba, since 2014, UND is average. UND has been below average to average in that timeframe. I’m not buying it right now, but if you’re content with average seasons and occasional second round playoff exits, it is your right to be fine with that.
  13. Ever consider that maybe UND’s athletic department is being run incorrectly? Like, ass backwards? Just a thought …
  14. IMO, Craig Bohl and Bubba Schweigert are not in the same coaching category.
  15. Cool, now you are referring to athletic department “facts”? Right … Think what you want, ‘83. You’re bulletproof…
  16. So, don’t start over because Bubba might get UND to 0.500 in 2022 again? Regression to the mean. And fear to make the next splash hire and go outside the inbred UND coaching tree. Spring 2021: UND got killed @ NDSU and @ JMU; other than SDSU win at home, not sure that strange spring season is much to hang your hat on.
  17. Compared to other sports, college football coaches have likely the largest impact on the success (or lack thereof) of the program. Well, well documented that quick turnarounds are frequented when good coaches take over.
  18. Your bitching is pathetic. You are getting down votes because your attempt at a point is embarrassing. You should want UND in the same conversation as NDSU, JMU, SHSU, EWU, Montana, and Montana State. “Football first” “Hockey first” What ridiculous simplifications.
  19. Players win games. Coaches don’t win games, but can lose games. Interesting concept, but one I 100% agree with.
  20. Looked really good vs Missouri State in playoffs. Like really good. But I get the point you’re making.
  21. The real question is what happened from the spring to the fall? Take a close hard look at who they lost, sure, but something else got into the team’s head. The team was making critical plays to win in the spring but now they most certainly aren’t.
  22. The microanalysis of fans is hilarious. Love to focus in on one or two controversial plays, when the result is determined by a total sum of several plays throughout the entire game. Easy to point out the fumble and failed 4th down attempt, but what about the defense’s failures at the end of the game? Or the failed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down plays that led to UND being presented with 4&2? Or how about the missed throws early on by Schuster? So many opportunities over the course of a FB game, but fans love to latch on to controversy in the last two minutes. Recency bias at its best. To sum up this season, UND is close to being a good team, as they’ve lost so many close games, but they are what their record says they are: a losing team. As I said in a earlier post, this UND squad (players and coaches all included) has a losing mindset.
  23. Because Bubba holds a position titled head football coach … From a microanalytical perspective, sure, I get what you’re saying, but he’s the head coach; his team’s successes and failures all come back to him. Ultimately, ALL decisions made are under his authority.
  24. Hey NDSU rancher - F off. UND has lost every MVFC game by one score or less, so yes, it is a good thing to have everyone back PLUS additional talent. The thing is, UND won’t truthfully have everyone back. they will lose some good players.
  25. Thoughtful, but won’t yield anything. We’ve seen enough of Cochran and Smith to know what they are. Fine players, but not all-conference type guys. At RB, Smith still has a shot.
