  1. UND-FB-FAN

    2019 Season

Had a lot of potential. Had never started or played for UND, yet. Big Potential = Big Loss
  2. Damn NDSU sob's ... Hate 'em even more now (didn't think it was possible) ...
  3. On second thought, Bubba is definitely a better coach than Saban. Please forgive me!
  4. THIS IS GOOD STUFF SABAN - 87% win percentage at Alabama SCHWEIGERT - 51% win percentage at UND Sorry for putting up numbers in this fun thread, I just couldn't help myself.
  5. Too simple. There is some method to the madness.
  6. And on that note ... Put this guy atop my wish list. https://www.hudl.com/profile/6580786/Logan-Graetz - Logan Graetz, 6'4", 190, River Falls, WI Has committed to UM as a PWO Potential to be a hell of a QB, particularly in the type of system that I think Freund is going to run. Also, he is from Freund's home state of Wisconsin ...
  7. Serious decline? Considering your biased background/allegiances as well as your lack of objectivity, no one should listen to your predictions of a "serious decline".
  8. UND needs to get better in non-hockey sports to remain popular against NDSU given their recent success. The schools are close in location, and folks can simply pick and choose which school to give their money and attention. Easier said than done. People in ND often fear increased sports spending as it is often viewed as frivolous in this context. There are only so many Ralph Engelstads. UND needs to invest more time, effort, and money into football and basketball. It will be hard. Not impossible, but very difficult. There needs to be a concerted effort. HPC Phase II funding and coaching salaries need to be proactively assessed and improved.
  9. Beat their asses after that, then. I hate NDSU, and UND fans of all backgrounds should also. I'm worried more and more people can not imagine UND beating NDSU. That is not good. Gather up the confidence and change the trajectory of both programs.
  10. Absolutely fabulous podcast. Great job by those guys. Keep it up. A lot of positivity for the future.
  11. #3 and #5 stand out #3 - und lost the playoff game because they couldn’t maintain the lead (17 point lead) and run out the clock #5 - UND didn’t make the playoffs because they couldn’t maintain the lead (Idaho State, Idaho) as a result, offensive line coach (needed for running out clock) and offensive coordinator (innovative calls to run out clock) are fired. i see similarities between both seasons and the common denominator is the above mentioned issues here’s to hoping Freund and newly hired OL coach can improve this fatal flaw in 2019
  12. Hey, that kind of sounds like UND under Bubba. One really good season, one really bad season, and otherwise a bunch of average seasons. Certainly better than a collection of losing seasons, though.
  13. Very consistent program. Kirk Ferentz does a real nice job. Sucks NDSU barely beat them.
  14. You bring up fair points and I’m embarrassed that so many would down vote your post because the truth hurts. Not so much that the program is “in-bred”, but that those who have been a part of this stale regime continue to be elevated and/or relied upon. I think Freund and King are high-potential young coaches that could do great things for UND at their new positions. With that said, potential is the key word. Neither one of them have coached at this level at their new positions. There is definitely a sizable risk. Biggest limiting factors seem to be salary and the program’s reputation. UND can’t pay assistant coaches enough - it is a legitimate problem and it limits their scope when searching for candidates. Lastly, the program doesn’t have the greatest reputation and trajectory based on the past two seasons. All in all, a lot rides on the unproven shoulders of Freund for 2019; fair or unfair, it is what it is. Go UND
  15. Damn that NDSU won. Hate the cow college. Not sure I care much more for Brian Jones though ...
  16. OL Coach is a HUGE position. Hopefully they find a damn good one - if they do, it could change the offense completely.
  17. I have followed UND football for many years, including the collapse of the annual Nickel Trophy game. I know what happened and partially detailed it with my post. Anything different is just opinion and/or heresay unless proven otherwise. What I posted in some ways is opinion, but I’ve included what factual historical info I could. There is very little reason to not schedule to play a football program only 80 miles away unless you are in a position to hurt that program while bolstering your own. That is obviously how NDSU saw it. There are alternative theories out there that you NDSU fans love, but they are irrational and/or unprovable. Again, as an NDSU supporter, I wouldn’t expect different from you in regards to this subject.
  18. Yes, in 2016. King was RB coach at MN-Duluth from 2017 - 2018. Will move over to WR coach at UND. He played QB in high school and in college (Bemidji State). Ultimately, Freund will be the one to decide which direction this offense heads. I can say with much confidence that the UND offense in 2019 will be much more explosive than it had been under Rudolph (more tempo, more deep shots, more misdirection, etc.). Of course, it couldn't get much less explosive.
  19. The attendance at games and the actions of NDSU’s administrators with scheduling says otherwise. And stop saying "we", it's "you". If you ran a poll open to the entire city of Fargo, who do you think they would pick? Not SDSU. Also, the attendance versus scheduling issues are not contradictory based on what I posted before. You can believe what you want, but again, I told you so when you’re forced to admit UND is the main rival in a couple years.
  20. We're not telling NDSU fans who their rival really is. We're just trying to convince you. The majority of NDSU fans, who are honest with themselves, already know their true rival is UND. The few NDSU fans who post on this website are extremists (demonstrated by them monitoring and posting on a UND site), and I would expect nothing but the "SDSU true rival" propaganda from them.
  21. Whatever they have to do to make themselves happy, I guess. Winning 6 out of 7 national titles isn't good enough if you still have to acknowledge UND, I suppose ... Man, it's awesome how much UND still gets underneath their cow hide [skin].
  22. There isn't a contradiction unless you want to use ignorance as your own argument. You should know, as well as really everyone, that NDSU-UND games will sell out. I would imagine NDSU has also known that since 2004. However, NDSU still didn't schedule the current 2 game series until 2014 and never did schedule an out-of-conference game in Grand Forks. It certainly wasn't because UND didn't want to play NDSU, but quite the opposite. NDSU felt - emotionally and strategically - that not scheduling UND (despite the guaranteed one game sell out with high ticket prices) would hurt UND and protect NDSU in the long-term. The benefits outweighed the risks in the long-term, you could say, so that is what NDSU did. How can you not see that? It obviously worked for NDSU, as the fan base/allegiances have completely shifted since the two programs last regularly played in 2003. The last time the two played as conference rivals, UND was coming off a national championship in 2001 and NDSU had recently underwent a coaching change in 2003. The roles are quite different now, obviously. UND fans understand that Roger Thomas screwed up by not moving up to DI when NDSU and SDSU did. We acknowledge that and understand it ultimately hurt UND. Nonetheless, UND is NDSU's primary rival and NDSU is UND's primary rival. No way around it unless you want to blatantly ignore history, North Dakota culture, and geography.
