  1. I want UND to win. Would be awesome. For that to happen, UND, Bubba, his team need to expect to win. Unfortunately, I don’t think UND will win.
  2. Readiness and mistakes are related. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail, as the good Ben Franklin supposedly said. I have followed Nebraska football quite closely over the years; been to handful of their games. Frost’s teams have been very mistake prone and sloppy, hence his below average record. UND’s road record under Bubba also hasn’t been very good, though. Something has to give. Nebraska certainly has more talent, but that still hasn’t produced winning results. I agree on mistakes being crucial to this game’s outcome and really all games, which is why I’ve referenced preparedness (“will Bubba’s team be ready?”). Nebraska coming off a trip to Ireland where they suffered a critical loss is a key point here for this game. Will be interesting for sure.
  3. It already has been and will continue to be an overemphasized area of critique all week in Nebraska. Frost will be looking to redeem himself on 9/3/22. Will Bubba’s squad be ready? I sure hope so…
  4. verbal irony, much?
  5. Such high expectations for UND football … Disgusting.
  6. Okay … Debbie …
  7. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/college/a-look-at-und-footballs-history-in-fbs-matchups 2021 Utah State 2nd half implosion for both offense and defense. 2018 Washington game was embarrassing. Punting from opponents 40 yard line … 2017 Utah game wasn’t too bad, but again, wasn’t a win. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
  8. Bo Pelini did fine, but he was a hot head and the boosters fired him without thinking it through. It’s been downhill since Pelini. As for UND-Nebraska, UND has a chance if they play well. On the other hand, it will be a must win for Scott Frost and I don’t have faith that Bubba can prepare his team to perform well in front of 90,000 fans… I suspect the team to be awestruck and play sloppy.
  9. Or the Hawk collective? I’m over conflict, rather let’s promote growth.
  10. Huge opportunity for Waletzko here. Needs to grab it and run with it.
  11. Would definitely suck if he goes elsewhere. UND needs a high-end QB recruit in the worst way
  12. Good ol’ trigonometry and kinematics … velocity is average at best for Schuster and thus the arc of the ball is higher to compensate, but you’re right, it definitely gets there. I’m not arguing this point nor interested in doing that. Accuracy and decision making more important for a QB. But arm strength and athleticism are nice bonuses. Curious to see what Freund’s 2022 offense has evolved into. The 2021 version wasn’t nearly good enough.
  13. That much is obvious.
  14. He’s accurate and makes good decisions; two most important attributes for a QB. That with playing time is why he has racked up yards. He just doesn’t have the strongest arm nor is he a big physical, fast athlete - those are the deficiencies that some grasp onto. It should be fine to point them out, but, again, the two most important attributes Schuster has. That’s a good thing. With all that said, this 2-QB system should be under the microscope a bit more. Perhaps it is just Freund overthinking it, since everyone appears convinced Schuster is a top QB, but UND needs to hand this system to the top guy and let him grow with it.
  15. It’s not a secret everyone is hitching this season to the ability of Tommy Schuster. Makes people sensitive around here. Bit goofy to be honest. But sure, the offensive line, running back, receivers, corners, linebackers, safeties all are important to the success moving forward as well. Let’s see how the team puts it together.
  16. Okay, well why would Schuster leave the field then so often? That’s the question posed. Freund is a nice guy, trying to get too many of his QBs on the field. I agree that it should be a 1-QB system, that much is clear. I’ve already said numerous times that Schuster on the field allows for more of the playbook than when Vaughn is out there. The key here is that Freund felt compelled to still play Vaughn. Is it because Vaughn was so talented he needed to see the field, were certain promises made, or was Freund just honestly convinced a 2-QB system would be the best way to run the offense? Don’t get me wrong, UND needs to find a single QB to run the offense. Schuster is the rightful front runner. The more a 2-QB system is run in 2022, the more mistakes there will be to be made. Hopefully Schuster grabs it and runs with it and Freund allows him to do that. If Vaughn improves and grabs the spot, that would be fine as well. Just need someone to surface.
  17. Interesting point. But if Tommy could perform well at the QB position, there would not be another QB out there to critique in the first place … Tommy’s liabilities (or at least his former liabilities, who knows if he’s improved on them for this season) are the reason a different QB goes out there on 3rd/4th and short in the first place.
  18. The “hating” correlates with Tommy’s play. There won’t be hating if he improves. If he plays like he did in 2021, there will be plenty of hating to go around.
  19. Bad QB and good OL or good QB and bad OL …. both are not ideal. Can we at least all agree on that?
  20. Exception, not the rule. There’s been 56 Super Bowls, you mentioned 3 guys … C’mon, you the know the rules!
  21. Happening all around us (UND). This is definitely something UND and the Grand Forks community can form.
  22. If we (supporters) want UND to ascend, let’s be honest; let’s bolster the quarterback position.
  23. Yes
  24. And that is totally fine. There are several examples out there as a basis, and they are separate from the Universities’ alumni foundations.
  25. Yeah wait and see aka wait until we’re behind the 8 ball and forced to do it.
