Ha! Plenty of poor offensive performances over the past couple years. He’s not immune to some criticism. 17 points yesterday was by no means an amazing performance. Plenty of work to do. I think the obvious criticism is UND needs more explosive plays. Sure, throwing deep is one way to do it, but simply having more playmakers is another way to accomplish it. issue is, everyone else in the country wants the same thing … for what UND has, they do alright. But certainly UND could use more explosive talent at not only WR but all the skill positions (including QB).

Missouri Valley is the Missouri Valley. NDSU and SDSU are good, everyone else UND needs to beat and should beat. No excuses other than failed execution and coaching.
-
But losing to 11-3 Utah State didn’t make UND a good team in 2021. UND had losing record in 2021. No moral victories. Bubba still needs to be held accountable. With that said, I completely agree. Let’s let the season play out. Let’s see what happens next week vs UNI. UND needs to continue to improve because a 38-17 loss at Nebraska means nothing - still need to get better and UND has an opportunity to do that. The season is young.

damn you’re cool … Fargo university “football only school” but yet still not important in grand scheme of things …so unimportant they can’t even be scheduled to play big schools anymore sucks to suck go back to bisonville where you can continue your delusional existence

Important to really understand what FBS means. It means more scholarships and usually more money with television contracts. Beyond that, the coaches on FBS teams still coach the same game that FCS coaches coach. Rules are the same. Football field is still the same width and length. Point being, there is a very wide spectrum of football amongst FBS teams. Simply chalking something up to FCS vs FBS is a lazy way of making an argument. We’ve seen many FCS upsets of FBS over the recent years, including Power 5 teams. The top FCS teams consistently match up with FBS because football remains the same; you need good players on the field that can tackle and block. And even if FBS has more scholarships, FCS can still develop and instruct good starting players to see the field. Final point; don’t take the embarrassing way out by saying it was/is an FCS vs FBS matchup. It doesn’t mean as much as you think. example: und lost a lead @ Utah state last season in the second half, it was FCS/FBS, but turns out und had the same problem all season long against fcs opponents as well. Football is still football, regardless of scholarship numbers and television contracts

Great effort for 3 quarters. UND played winning football (by that, I mean good enough to beat a Power 5 team) for 3 quarters. Just ran out of steam in the 4th quarter. Call it a lack of depth, lack of experience, whatever, really the classic FCS-FBS experience. Same thing happened 2nd half last season @ Utah State. 3rd and 15 conversion (deep pass) by Nebraska late in the game was the final knockout blow that gave Nebraska the momentum for the rest of the game. Need to continue to work on finishing games in the 4th quarter. I know this was a Big 10 opponent, but UND had trouble finishing games against FCS opponents all of last season. Coaching staff and Bubba still need to preach to work on finishing games and being the better team in the 4th quarter. Just not there yet, but will have plenty of opportunities - starting next week vs UNI - to show this team and staff can develop a closing killer attitude in the 4th quarter. It is paramount for a successful 2022 and to show improvement relative to 2021.

Yep, sure am. Happy UND played tough for 3 quarters, but I was hoping for a win. Not going to cower away from that hope despite your berating.
-
I predicted 38-14 (actual score 38-17) but I didn’t suspect it to be tied in the 3rd quarter. UND did some goods things, but it still isn’t a win. Too bad they couldn’t finish. The game was over when Nebraska converted on 3rd and 15 when it was only a 7 point game.
-
Yet UND couldn’t beat said 3-9 team? let’s wait and see, no moral victories
-
Win this game!!! Come out guns a’ blazing Bubba/squad and grab the momentum! Huge opportunity in front of UND squad
-
But Bubba Ball
-
I’m sandbagging this one and proud of it. My heart wants UND to pull the upset. There’s a chance with turnovers and penalties if UND is prepared. My head definitely says Bubba is using this as a field trip for fun, the team will be overwhelmed, and I already predicted a score of Nebraska 38-14. Hope I’m wrong.

South Dakota State is doing just fine … defense held Iowa on a short field after poor punt. Top FCS program that is prepared to play in big games.
-
Yeah, gonna be a real tough matchup. UND offensive line is going to have their hands full. Unless Quincy can throw better this year, I actually think you need to stick with the better passer, likely Schuster. Nebraska has some really good defensive linemen, like Ty Robinson (https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/ty-robinson/43862) and big boy South Dakotan Nash “Polar Bear”Hutmacher (https://huskers.com/sports/football/roster/nash-hutmacher/43812) in the interior. You very well may see a lot of #99 and #72 in red ruining UND’s offensive plays. on the bright side, hopefully UND’s defensive line - with a lot of depth - can stop Nebraska’s run game. Will be critical. If Nebraska can run at will, definitely will be blowout.
-
You’re the Debbie. Look in the mirror. No one will give a rat’s ass if UND is “close” other than a few on this board who carry a hockey stick around with them everywhere. Play to win the game. Only thing that counts. South Dakota State, UNI, Illinois State, NDSU, Montana, South Dakota, etc. just to name a few regional schools that have pulled out “mighty P5” victories … Move on. Your vendetta is getting old.
-
Yes, as said, Nebraska has more speed and talent on the line of scrimmage. BUT … penalties and turnovers …
-
Nebraska has more speed and talent up front, that’s not a question. What is the question (and also creates an opportunity for UND to hang around and instill doubt into Nebraska) is which team is better prepared and mentally tougher in this game. PENALTIES and TURNOVERS can keep UND in this thing and lead to a UND upset IF UND is the better prepared team. Given Scotty Frost’s tenure at Nebraska, it is possible, but Bubba’s teams have had their fair share of lapses also ..
-
That’s always well communicated on an online forum …

Crazy take. There’s no way in hell UND cares about UNI at this point. They will next week, but not today. UND is going to be playing in front of 90,000 fans against a Big Ten opponent. No way UND gives a flying !@#$ about next Saturday. UND should be - and will be - in the present and only the present. Now, with that said, I still don’t think UND will have the mental edge to overcome today and get the win unless Nebraska comes out crazily unprepared and hands it to UND … which could happen as Nebraska has been known to do that of late … but usually against other Big 10 teams.
-
Nebraska 38 North Dakota 14 Definitely hope Bubba and his squad proves me wrong
-
Sure, that’s great. But I’ve been there, done that. Nebraska football at Memorial is fun, but it’s always there, even when the team (UNL) has been atrocious. All I care about is UND making a splash today … go Hawks!
-
Yeah… I prefer actual wins, not just the moral [victory] kind … But I also get what you’re saying. I think Bubba is in over his head with this one (on par with other big games). Just what the doctor ordered for Big Red and Scotty Frost
-
misinterpret much? depth was never there, but was almost there… and now? not there, but almost there … almost …
-
Nebraska is on a 7 game losing streak … I don’t care if Grand Forks is hockey capital of bum !@#$ no where or if this is a FBS-FCS matchup … win the damn game Hawks! I suspect a loss… but am hoping for a surprise. The whole heart vs the head with this one.
