  1. Yes. WIU Leathernecks are still very bad. Missouri State not nearly as bad. My point remains.
  2. This win was expected. UND at home with much better players than Western Illinois. The real test is next week at Missouri State. Want to make playoffs? Go down there and get the win. Bears will be pissed after UND embarrassed them last year in playoffs.
  3. Can we talk about how horseshit the red zone offense is? That last drive debacle plus the other two goal to go drives that went no where … not good.
  4. Chains can still be brought out for measurement. Someone made comment that “modern football” doesn’t measure anymore.
  5. Still in the NCAA rule book. UND got screwed by the refs there first of, but also Freund/Bubba/offensive line deserve what happened given they went with 3rd down run/no timeouts and could not get it.
  6. Agreed, definitely a risky play call, as we saw given how it played out
  7. Clock can be stopped for measurement, which technically UND deserved on 4th down given how close it was. Even so, the run play call on 3rd down is high risk call. Also, calling timeout before punt rather than keeping timeout and having 1:00 to go downfield plus time out in pocket is the strategy that came back to bite them.
  8. Bubba/Freund combo, if being realistic given Freund is play caller and Bubba obviously voicing his game management strategy to Freund ..
  9. Otis Weah still good. Tommy Schuster still mediocre. 2-QB system is still bull$%!#. Bubba and game management ability still embarrassing. After all that, UND still winning because Western Illinois is just that bad …
  10. Agree. Freund has lost his touch, in my opinion. This 2-QB system Is garbage.
  11. Yeah, failed QB sneak on your own 20 yard line while BEATING your arch rival will do that to you. okay, I’m just piling on at this point, but no doubt Bubba’s teams need to do better for the masses to get behind him. Remember, the people on this board don’t count, we aren’t the “average” fan.
  12. Yeah he’s a hockey guy. UND does that to people. If he had it his way, would probably fold football and focus on just hockey and basketball, like what UN-Omaha did a decade ago. Okay, an over-exaggeration, but gets my point across.
  13. My tone? Agree to disagree, but I certainly do not think most on here have low standards, but of course some do. Mediocrity as a DI football program will do that.
  14. Again, I think you need to self-reflect on your poor interpretation of these terms. You’re just in a mood to argue with people rather than discuss. That is not the same thing as being upset that the team has had a poor start to the season. you can sit down now.
  15. “Bitching” does not need to be word diarrhea. Unfortunately for some it is.
  16. No, coaches and fans that care make the team better. Good players make the team better. It all is a trickle down effect. If the entire fan base thinks their actions are independent of the program’s success, or lack thereof, then you just feed into mediocrity. not a challenging concept at all for most, but perhaps it makes you uneasy because you’re content with perpetual mediocrity and want everyone to hold hands and sing kumbaya.
  17. The team is 2-4 and 0-3 in conference. Your comment screams apathy and low expectations. I’m not for that. I’m all for complaining if it means people want UND football to be successful. Would you rather people be content with a 2-4 (0-3) start and stay quiet? That’s actually when the panic button really should be pushed.
  18. No moral victories, not because we can’t appreciate some of the good things the team is doing, but rather because playoff eligibility and championships all come down to winning and losing. must win on Saturday. Expect UND to get the win or else no playoffs this season
  19. Happened many times before. 4 MVFC teams in is definitely a possibility.
  20. I beg to differ. Pretty obvious QB is the single position that has the greatest impact on games, thus its importance. Sure, if a QB has better players around him, he looks better - I don’t think anyone will argue that because that’s dead obvious. point remains, the single position that can most dramatically change your team is QB. The entire “offensive line” or entire “defensive front” doesn’t count as a single player. this continual infatuation by some with UND’s current starting QB is a bit much. He’s not “bad” by any means, but he’s not carrying this UND team by any means either. He's average at best. I do agree with you that he definitely needs a running game and better receivers around him, but so does every average quarterback out there. As evidenced by Saturday’s game at SIU, Schuster looks a lot better when the offensive line is moving people (as opposed to NDSU and USD games) and can hand the ball off to an on fire running back (in this case Isaiah Smith, who looked great but now injured), but that is the case with every QB. what does your team look like when you can’t run the ball 4-5 ypc? If still good, that is probably because you have a good QB
  21. UND doesn’t have a QB, as evidenced by attempt at 2-QB system. They might have one if they give Quincy Vaughn a chance to run entire offense, but we don’t know right now what that’d look like. Coaches might, but I’m questioning that. Trey Feeney is next year’s hope. Tommy Schuster is a “don’t lose the game” rather than “go win the game” type QB and that fits right into 0.500 Bubba’s wheelhouse.
  22. How does Bemidji Minnesota have a top team in the county? Man … college hockey is a a localized niche sport. I digress. Not going down that rabbit hole.
  23. After yesterday, most likely scenario is UND goes 3-2 to finish season but results in losing record: 5-6 and miss playoffs. Major disappointment coming off the spring. Best case scenario would be 5-0, obviously, with huge culmination victory in Brookings to go 7-4 and make playoffs with winning conference record (5-3). Usually, reality lies somewhere in between, which is 4-1 finish, loss @ SDSU, 6-5 finish (4-4 conference record), and UND is either first out or last in to the playoff field.
  24. THE University of North Dakota loses to frickin’ bemidji … damn
