  1. And same to you with the corn cobs. Hope one doesn’t get stuck, although, there might already be something stuck ...
  2. Remember, my initial post was numbers. You concluded the rest.
  3. I believe you, I just personally don’t believe in the transitive property of epidemiology. Have a good one. Take care.
  4. Nice deflection, I guess? You know best, though. Your family must be so proud. I trust you’ll be safe and find something [slightly] productive to do without hockey to watch.
  5. Actually, what you’re stating is a theory/projection, albeit the most logical one. Of course I agree the true prevalence of the infections is greater than the reported. BUT, that’s not what I “assumed” or posted initially. In your initial response, you said I was assuming when actually all I did was simply use current figures from the CDC with basic math. The projections are just that, projections. We don’t know the actual prevalence. Just be open-minded and don’t assume you fully understand a novel virus. This will pass, like other prior pandemics. The goal is to minimize morbidity and mortality. We’ll be okay if there’s no spring sports for a season.
  6. And you stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night also? It’s all good. Just stay tuned and be open minded, thats all.
  7. I am not assuming anything. I am stating epidemiological facts. Read data from appropriate sources with established expertise before forming an opinion and your own narrative. The medium.com and Tomas Pueyo is questionable information, but worthwhile if read in the correct context.
  8. The “denominator” (that is, the number of cases) is pending “investigated” cases. “Widely accepted” is not the appropriate term. Read the CDC data and follow the decision-making of those trained in epidemiology and infectious diseases. Stay turned. Don’t be closed minded - that is beyond foolish.
  9. 36/1,215 = 2.96% https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-in-us.html For comparison, in 2009-10 H1N1 swine flu pandemic: 12,469/60,800,000 = 0.02% https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/2009-h1n1-pandemic.html Sample size from this year will certainly grow and change final mortality rate.
  10. Although it’s very difficult to find positives during this strange, unprecedented time, one positive is the possibility that the NCAA structure may be forced to change based on the uncoordinated leadership and delayed decision-making over the past 48 hours. For posters on this site, I can’t imagine there are many delightful thoughts regarding Mark Emmert.
  11. The biggest difference between MVFC and Big Sky is geography, obviously. UND will be accumulating far less travel miles, thus saving travel expense. The other difference is the MVFC contains juggernaut NDSU, but beating that team should fuel UND’s drive and passion. Disrupting the balance by beating NDSU would be significant, but of course, UND also needs to find consistency within the conference schedule. The only perfect conference season for UND under Bubba in the BSC was 2016. But that season has asterisks in that UND didn’t play the co-conference champ EWU and also didn’t play the toughest road challenge offered at Montana. The MVFC will offer similar challenges for Bubba and staff. UND will have to play in tough environments in the MVFC, namely at the Fargodome, at SDSU and at UNI. Two of their 3 protected games (SDSU, USD, NDSU) are against the conference “top dogs”. It will be a challenge for UND, but it will make UND a better program. It will have regional intrigue and relevance. It will allow for easier fan travel to some away games. All in all, it is an exciting change for UND football, but much work yet to be done for Bubba.
  12. I appreciate your positivity. Let’s just keep this real. Bubba is certainly prone to making mistakes - we’ve seen it. As such, UND is a 0.500 program right now. It sucks and the sentimental posts about Bubba’s authenticity and passion come across as desperate. There is no prerequisite that everyone who posts on here must be a former successful DI coach. So many posts criticizing the “credentials” of posters on a blog. Man, that’s funny stuff. Let’s just see how year #1 goes in the MVFC and go from there. Obviously UND doesn’t have the money nor the facilities at present to hire a bigger name coach, so Bubba is the leader for the foreseeable future. It’s more necessity than choice with Chaves understanding that situation and thus extending Bubba. Fortunately, UND football has been making improvements slowly but surely over the past 2 seasons. Let’s hope the trend continues in 2020. Once HPC phase II comes online, then the future will hold more realistic possibilities for UND.
  13. Priceless logic, as always.
  14. Seems more like a coincidence to me, but whatever floats your boat.
  15. This certainly is good news. It is about time.
  16. NDSU also earns playoff home field advantage in the regular season by winning difficult road games, such as SDSU in Brookings ....... whereas UND goes on the road and gets blown out by Idaho State.
  17. A detail of this sort, believe it or not, actually makes sense and would be smart on Chaves’ part. I have no idea if it’s true.
  18. Good looking QB prospect from local location - definitely should be UND’s top target. The only problem here is pretty obvious. If NDSU makes him their top target, UND will have to move on to someone else. Playing time and area of study won’t help UND here, folks. Sorry to disappoint you.
  19. If both lines truly are improved, then all other positions will look better as well. It all starts up front.
  20. I don’t think there is much NDSU envies of UND right now. It is up to UND to change that on the field. Fall 2020 is the next opportunity. Until then, these “but we got this player and NDSU didn’t” arguments are petty at best.
  21. Those damn trolls; the source of all of life’s problems ....
  22. There are several personnel concerns on offense for me, but I have confidence that Danny Freund will have it right by the Fall. Spring will be an important time to see how the offensive personnel comes together and uncover new talent. Quarterback position is rightfully the most critical and talked about, with three freshmen competing for the starting job. Next up, though, would be the offensive line. They need to show improvement under 2nd year offensive line coach Joe Pawlak as 2019 was simply not good enough based on the lack of a running game. As for the skill position players (RB/WR/TE), I think UND will be fine, but I'm not sure they will be explosive enough this year to be a top MVFC offense. The receiver corps was consistent last year but not explosive and the same went for the running back group. We will see if some hidden talent pops up within those skill position groups, because right now I expect consistent yet average play from backs and receivers. No "next level" talent that I see at those spots ... yet. As for the defensive side of the ball, I think the personnel is there for UND to have a solid MVFC defense, perhaps top 3. It will be interesting to see how Brent Holinka coordinates the group with Eric Schmidt now gone. Special teams: Brady Leach needs to take the next step - I still am not confident in field goal unit. Will be interesting to see how Adam Stage, transfer from SCSU, does. Cade Peterson at punter, continue to work.
  23. A: Change. Wins and re-location of sections.
  24. Competing offers is a real metric. IF other coaching staffs want a recruit, it’s a good sign. Some offers don’t get reported, however, and it makes recruits look less valuable. Also, under-the-radar high-end recruits are a regular occurrence every year; gives hope to the programs that are usually at the bottom of these lists. For UND, they aren’t going to usually be at the top of these lists. They need to focus on development of recruits in order to ascend their program, not gathering in highly sought after talent. Now, of course, it’s NEVER a bad thing if you get a recruit with multiple FBS offers to commit to your FCS program. Last point I’ll make: recruiting is a comprehensive process and should be graded as such. If you get one or two really good recruits but the rest of the class is below average, the program didn’t improve at all. Football is the ultimate team game.
  25. This was inevitable. Too bad planning and budgeting for UND football was not properly managed with the proper foresight years ago. For now, UND football will be forced to wait for adequate funding of HPC Phase II. Hopefully construction can start sooner rather than later. A homeless UND football is not good anyway you spin it ...
