  1. One or both would be reasonable conclusions … The idea that the depth chart was stacked against him is a generic argument that I’m not buying. He was a true freshman, what would you expect? Of course there’s several ahead of him. Yeah, not buying that. Now getting closer to home I can buy.
  2. For the most part, I agree, but as we disputed earlier, there are some circumstances where new guys coming in deserve Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) compensation to allow for them (and their family) to experience UND football. In those select circumstances, NIL support upon transfer is acceptable (and absolutely necessary) in my opinion (and thankfully this staff’s opinion). Pushing The University of North Dakota football program to the next level requires some risk and sacrifice.
  3. No question that the majority of these guys who transfer end up in a worse situation.

Hockey is beyond underwhelming. The United States of America agrees. Football is king. USA! USA!

The coaching carousel is nuts these days in FBS college football, but this is a whole new level of crazy. Wow.
  6. I agree with this completely. No reason at all to panic. This is just the norm in college football right now, and most are replaceable.
  7. Farewell posts are just the thing to do. And also suggests that transferring is oftentimes just “the thing to do” and not something that involves a thoughtful process. So we shouldn’t overreact now either. Unfortunate (and ironic) that modern college football is more and more pressuring student-athletes to make decisions without thought behind it … In the future, we’ll realize the complete lack of rules was probably a bad idea, but if you’re focusing on dollars, then this is the world we live in and I suppose the correct way of growing the brand (but not necessarily the values the game is based on, however)…
  8. You’re joking right? That’s the only time ever for UND … literally 1 out of 1000

Crazy coaching carousel this year. Transfer portal apparently is for coaches too … Jimmy Rogers to Iowa State. Danny Freund apparently not going with him. And now this …
  10. Well, now that ag college of Fargo has been eliminated, I know the next program I want ousted … Geesh … unreal Not to mention all the “ass whoopin” comments I’ve seen from their fan base …
  11. Nah… these guys are all replaceable. Remember, a year ago at this time, everyone was hoping UND would just go .500. We’re fine. The foundation is being built. If these guys are about themselves, and not the process and the brotherhood, then let them leave. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
  12. Quick dollars versus playing time and getting the opportunity to play at the next level… There’s no question that staying at UND for most players actually increases their likelihood of being drafted, despite what you might think. Having to move to a new state, new program, new locker room, new staff, all for money, diminishes your likelihood of making it to the next level. Sure you’ll play against a higher level of competition, but if you don’t succeed given all the extra stressors you’ve put on yourself with moving, then it was all for not. To me it’s a no brainer that the successful players stay at UND, not only because fans want them to, but because it is better for the players themselves. Even if the kid makes $100k, or even $500k, that pales in comparison to being on an NFL or CFL (particularly NFL) roster for 1-2 years … For some, especially those who get 7 figures, I get it; but for most this is a shot in the dark that will bite them. Stay at UND. Get developed. Don’t be bought.
  13. Would love to have him one more year at UND. Good luck to him, but I believe he’s making a mistake. Path is open for Deng Deng now and several other receivers (not currently on the roster) who want to make plays. Need 2-3 big time new receivers, a running back, and another quarterback… Transfer portal here we come …
  14. Tour of football facilities if you haven’t seen them yet. Fit for championships… LFG
  15. Two great young men to build around, including one from … dare I say it …. Detroit Lakes, MN…
  16. Don’t give NDSU that much credit. UND graduates stay and support the region in ways NDSU graduates simply can’t. And yes, UND certainly prepares students to take their talents elsewhere as well.
  17. Don’t be so critical all the time … We all want UND football to succeed. At least most of us. SOURCE: 2026 AFCA 35 UNDER 35
  18. Agreed. More can always be done. And I whole heartedly agree with not blaming or faulting the players. The experienced adults in the room (coaches, athletic director, administration, alumni/fans/boosters) are the ones who rightfully deserve the (hopefully constructive) criticism.
  19. People with their intentions can be subtle … and the proof is in the pudding (2025 wasn’t a good ending for it) time will tell
  20. Does that include the offensive coordinator? He seems to have a fascination with the Big 10 and NFL. Perhaps UND just ain’t doing it for him …
  21. This recognition is not based on the performance of UND’s offense the final 6 weeks of the season. Significant work needs to be done on offense, no doubt. What they were trying to do at the end there was futile and simply wrong. And now lost Sawyer Seidl to amplify the work that needs to done. Unfortunately, offensive regression cost the team championship possibilities based on how defense was playing. Lots of factors went into said regression, but accountability, not recognition, is needed to fix it...
