All a matter of perspective. First of all, too many UND fans are still too supportive of those arrogant a$$holes; the amount of “it’s good for the state, I cheer for both, blah, blah, blah” I heard yesterday from die-hard UND supporters in attendance is nauseating. This is relevant because it contributes to this inflated opinion that ag college is invincible. They aren’t. Don’t buy into all that Fargo propaganda crap. Secondly, any chance the ag college offense looked poor because the UND defense and venue atmosphere was just that good? Of course! But, conversely, the ag college defense was very stout and impressive looking at times yesterday.

Yes, early on the defense was getting run up to speed, but lately that hasn’t been the case. You can’t be upset UND gave up a late TD to NDSU … they held them to only 15 points! UND offense needs to score more than that every game …
-
Woulda, coulda, shoulda. need to do better, period, on offense and special teams. Defense is very good.
-
Yep, it’s a weakness that needs to be improved
-
awful. UND should be and will be a top 16 seed.
-
? Dude, you a NDAC troll now ?
-
This is correct. For this reason, with UND being ranked a top 16 team if they win their next two, UND would host a playoff game over Thanksgiving weekend at the Alerus Center. Have to beat Murray State first. That’s step one, and go from there.
-
They would have a very solid resume even at 7-5 with wins versus SIU and YSU, but ultimately they should and will go 8-4 making this is a non-issue.
-
They’re in a rough patch, but next week (Murray State) should allow them to build key confidence for a crucial home matchup versus South Dakota State on 11/22. If UND defense continues what they’re doing, the UND offense only has to make a few more plays per game to be in position to consistently win games. They’re close, but certainly not there yet.
-
UND is a total of 14 points from being 10-0. Defensive turnaround is a mastery. Offense and kicking game is below the standard right now. UND will definitely make the playoffs if they beat Murray State and the jackbunnies of South Dakota State. Next 2 games. **Help the cause, stop complaining, cheer at the games (esp. the next home game), and donate some of that cash to NIL

True and false. Going all the way back to Bill Walsh, successful offensive football is never about banging your head against a wall. You never want to minimize your offense to just making one player overcome another. When the defense is sold out to stop one thing, you need to go to something different. There were some opportunities for different play calls yesterday, as such, but I agree with you that the players ultimately need to make the plays and they didn’t make enough at the end of the day. What makes this sting is they didn’t need to make 4 or 5 more plays, just 1 more play wouldve been enough and UND would be in the driver seat for the conference championship. Instead, we’re fighting for a playoff spot and ag college and their cocky a**hole fans got to celebrate on our home turf if there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, it’s that this program and current team is very close…one play away from beating the best team in FCS football keep grinding and this team can make a deep, deep playoff run

This is a key issue. To win 2 minute drills - which UND is 0-4 on currently this season - you need studs who can make plays even when the whole building knows you’re passing every down. UND doesn’t have that and needs that, but also there are intricacies in timing, coverage recognition, knowing when to check down versus test the coverage, etc. that just aren’t clicking right now.

There’s other options fortunately

Never justify mediocrity, ever. No one at UND wants to be average, and that includes not accepting the excuse of “it takes time”… Play-calling could’ve been different, sure, on both goalline sequence and 4th and short call, but ultimately need to execute better also. Not coming away with at least 3 points after goalline sequence is absolutely inexcusable. That missed FG was the crux. UND is 0-4 versus good teams despite the defense putting them into position each and every time to win. Offense needs to do better. Don’t heavily weigh what UND is doing versus Valpo, Portland State and Indiana State into your equation. That’s not our tier. But as I said, solution is complex; play-calling, mindset, execution, and needing better play-makers on the field are all factors.
-
Luke S. or even Danny Freund back at UND as an OC would be amazing, but of course unlikely, as both raking in cash as FBS coordinators. Of course, it was unlikely that Schmidt would come back here after his FBS success and now he’s back, so never say never. Now, if you can get some of those hockey boosters to redirect UND funds to the actual #1 sport in North Dakota and America (football), then we may have a chance to further upgrade…

Defense was pretty much perfect. Holding ag college to 15 points should always lead to a win … Offense and special teams (missed field goal) simply didn’t get it done. UND is not 1-3 or 2-2 in one score games and 2 minute drills; they are now 0-4. That is unacceptable and officially the current problem at hand. Now, the answer to the problem is more complex, but it includes better play-calling, better execution and eventually better play-makers for UND on the field. From a ST perspective, need better (and more reliable) field-goal kicking. Grand Forks Herald also recognizes this issue

Noise situation was good but could be better. Band plays too damn much when UND has the ball (is on offense) and fans need to be loud on all downs when UND is on defense. F’ the “fans” who complain about those around them that are excited and wanting to amp up the atmosphere ... it’s simple, teach that you go home and watch the game if you don’t like the participation/ noise or learn to join in… Anyways, UND’s offense lost the game today. Very disappointing. Get back to work boys. Fruechte and his unit needs to do better. Coach Schmidt and his JYDs deserved the win today, D balled out, O needs to be better … 4 losses by a total of 14 pts and all 4 games defense gave UND a chance to win via 2 minute drill and the O continues to falter …

Gonna be a fun December. Not enough being said about UND holding all the cards … because they do… UND wins the f’n conference if they win their 3 next games, 2 of which are at home and the road game is versus Murray State… But it all starts on Saturday versus Ag Central … LGH Gonna be fun. Ya’ll get your popcorn ready

Yes, AD Chaves is now on the committee (thank God), but he can’t reset all the previously instilled bias and propaganda from NDAC instantaneously.
-
You’ll feel better Saturday evening.
-
That’s not fair at all. What UND did in 2016 vs Richmond under Bubba shouldn’t impact 2025 UND under Schmidt … but it does in fact prove bias (much of which is spread by ag school propagandists). There’s still plenty of opportunities in 2025 though so nothing to be overly worried about.
-
Makes no sense; obvious bias in place for NDAC and South Dakota St. UND getting punished more for losing on the road to South Dakota than South Dakota State losing at home to Indiana State … Anyways, it still will all work out if UND takes care of business the next few weeks … onward
