  1. @geaux_sioux is correct. UND and Schmidt were trying to figure this out going back to even 2014. 3rd down is indeed the money down … Hopefully we now have some better answers with new scheme, better players, and new defensive staff ….
  2. Although I have more goals for UND football then it becoming a farm program for coaches, I definitely agree that it becoming a stepping stone will mean UND football has ascended. I definitely think UND football is going to become a destination (already sorta has to a degree)….
  3. UND football has had, on paper, possibly its best off-season ever. Considering that, and with a game not even being played yet, how can you be critical of Coach Schmidt by commenting “spend more time looking in the mirror and spend less time talking about the ‘last regime’” ? first of all, he has not been spending much time talking about the “last regime” … only spending his time working and actually improving this thing secondly, the last regime deserves criticism … UND football sucked in 2024. UND football won’t suck in 2025 and beyond …
  4. I expect this team will be competing for conference titles soon, perhaps as soon as this year. MVFC is simply top heavy, mainly due to a program in Fargo that everyone should despise due to its out of control “fan base” as much as anything. It must be destroyed, and Schmidt is clearly the right man for the job here at UND. New ideas, new schemes, new staff, all timed along with new commitments and new facilities. Enjoy the ride. As for QB and offense, this is the first season that Fruechte gets at UND with guys he recruited (at least via transfer portal). I expect a big jump. And there clearly is a certain advantage deploying a QB that can run if they can do other things well also (make good decisions, be accurate, be a leader, etc.), and it is okay to simply come out and say that philosophically.
  5. Agreed, and if that means the only thing we got to b*tch about on this forum is too many practice fights, then it will be a net gain for the program. Team is toughening up one conflict at a time.
  6. All apart of the process. Gotta toughen up to start getting in trench fights with the big boys
  7. There’s a fire, there’s more nastiness, line didn’t get crossed “too much”. It is all good. No conspiracy but not a single name dropped? It’s more b.s. than legitimacy…
  8. Of course - goes without saying. There’s a method to the madness.
  9. The word “plenty” has been used and there has been plenty of hyperbole with this whole injury thing. Some people are too bored for their own good. Things are going fine. Better than fine, actually. Camp fights are as per usual for decades, with exception of no more overly friendly teams that couldn’t win on the road. If that means “more” fights, so be it. Gotta toughen up. With that said, there’s a line you don’t cross.
  10. That is Miller’s opinion, but it is also taken out of context. This concept that UND is accumulating “plenty of injuries” at practice due to fighting is unjustified garbage, but you can interpret the Miller posts however you want.
  11. Definitely taken out of context. Did he specifically mention injured players due to the “fighting”? I didn’t think so …
  12. You hit the nail on the head here. This is the name of the game in college football now, especially FCS
  13. This is not validated and is a perfect example of conspiracy b.s. that now everyone will latch on to as fact (as evidenced by the string of comments on here). Nice guys don’t usually finish first; things are going just fine. Injuries are a part of the game unfortunately. The nice guy mentality that Bubba formerly ran practice with was not getting it done… trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is…. With all that said, there is a line you don’t cross. You can’t have all out brawls within your team. In summary, everyone step away from the ledge. Things are going fine. Better than fine, actually.
  14. Still needed
  15. Keep the list going: need to add OL Jordan Ellis (Warren Township, IL). 6’5” 285. Had offers from Southern Illinois, Western Illinois, St. Thomas and Butler.
  16. 2025 media day:
  17. Utah game in 2017 was winnable believe it or not (17-9 at halftime) but second half was not good. Too many field goals for UND….. UND 2017 team went on to have horrible season with injury issues: UND should’ve beat Utah State game in 2021 (UND was winning at halftime but fell apart in second half). UND had an awful 2021 fall season following up their conference title 2021 spring schedule …
  18. And this is why expectation is to show up and simply beat Kansas State. First off, nothing to lose. Second off, North Dakota State and South Dakota State (where we want to get to) have shown it can consistently be done. Thirdly, the games you mention show how close the talent really is, just comes down to execution and closing and an ability to win games on the road, something previous coaching staff struggled mightily with. Bottomline, beat Kansas State. It is the expectation. Season is by no means ruined after only 1 game if it doesn’t happen, but it should be the expectation starting off here with the Schmidt era. Go JYDs-make a splash
  19. Spectacular. Done right - purchased as such. Keep it goin’ … win up front @The Sicatoka should approve and hopefully will contribute to this NIL opportunity …
  20. Respectfully disagree.
  21. All starts up front, and UND’s offensive line is the best it has been in years, both in quality and depth. Defensive front is a question mark but I think most will be pleasantly surprised ……
  22. These preseason polls mean nothing. Guess who the Big 12 picked to be last place last season? The very squad that ended up winning the league (Arizona St.)…. https://big12sports.com/news/2024/7/2/utah-picked-first-in-big-12-football-media-preseason-poll.aspx Guess who MVFC picked to be #7 in 2025? The very squad that will win the whole damn league … https://fightinghawks.com/news/2025/7/21/football-fighting-hawks-picked-seventh-in-2025-mvfc-preseason-poll.aspx Preseason Polls are sh*t
  23. Plenty remains unproven right now, but the positive change in momentum over the past 7+ months is pretty obvious, also. I “turned the corner” because changes occurred after it was clear half a decade ago that Bubba wasn’t gonna get it done. Time will tell. But at this juncture anything but optimism is unwarranted.
  24. Don’t limit expectations, although I agree with year #1 probably not leading to Natty. As for year #2… you better all have tickets for natty pre-ordered. Kalen DeBoer historically has done pretty well in year #2 using his program … what do we think will happen here with Schmidt? Boost up them expectations a bit, folks…
  25. Quarterback and defense are two biggest unknowns for UND going into 2025 for a reason … they were the two biggest weaknesses in 2024. Romfo did his best, but his lack of consistent success against top tier competition says a lot. It was not entirely his fault in 2024 - this is the ultimate team sport. The 2024 defense was not nearly good enough. There’s reason for optimism in 2025 with new players AND new coaches and schemes. Let’s see who proves themselves in fall camp - no one truthfully knows. See video below (go to 4:33)
