Disagree. National TV every week is a stretch… but I suppose BTN is “national TV”. There are certainly opportunities for more $, but it is not guaranteed. Minnesota is definitely not in the upper half of the Big 10. You sound like a goofer fan when not cheering for hockey. Fleck has definitely plateaued … above average salesman but very average football coach it appears. Wouldn’t trust his message ironically enough when it comes to being “Elite”…

Conference opener! UND and Coach Schmidt’s squad open conference play in Cedar Falls, Iowa on October 4th, 2025 at 4 pm. Watch on ESPN+ or listen via Fighting Hawks Radio Network. Time for UND’s first road win of the season. Northern Iowa is 2-2 to start the season. Northern Iowa is 2-0 at home, beating Butler and Eastern Washington at home to start the year, and is 0-2 on the road versus Wyoming and most recently Utah Tech. Northern Iowa is also led by a new coach this year (former Drake head coach), Todd Stepsis. Women’s basketball irrelevant also? You bring up wrestling in response to hockey, because they’re only sponsored by one of the institutions, but football is sponsored by both. Well, I would then bring up UND WBB, which won three nattys in a row. All in all, it is a ridiculous take to pick and choose different sports to argue this. When you look at everything overall, if there is any little brother, it’s the little ag college in fargo…

Because it’s Minneapolis, Minnesota (not a ”college town” at all) … and you won’t win a championship out there. … it is tempting given it’s conference affiliation, but it is doubtful that Fleck and that staff cares as much as ours … just another brick in the wall out there. We’ll see …

Carter has a bright future with UND football; and yes, it is awesome to have Jim back in Grand Forks regularly.

No question that you understand the rivalry which is why I was surprised you were erring on the side of front-running, it seemed. Do Vikings fans cheer for Green Bay fans because they’re in the same division? Do Michigan fans cheer for Michigan State because they’re in the same state? Do Iowa fans cheer for Iowa State because they’re in the same state? Do South Dakota State fans cheer for South Dakota because they’re in the same state? Do Montana fans cheer for Montana State because they’re in the same state? You get my point. UND-ag school/fargo is a rivalry and rivalries exist all over sports and even outside of sports. It’s a reality and it’s okay to acknowledge that and accept it. Anyways, UND having hockey and ag-school fargo not having hockey makes it unique a bit, but does set up front-running which should not be acceptable from UND football perspective. Need to ultimately do something about it though, and it is in progress. Need to close the gap between UND and ag school-fargo and ultimately put UND on top. Ag school-fargo fans who cheer for UND hockey are a category that you will never get full acceptance for from UND supporters, ever, and you know, I’m fine with that. UND hockey does very well financially and honestly doesn’t need those ag school-fargo fans if push comes to shove, but we’ll take it for now. Need to make front-running a thing of the past in North Dakota, where everyone (other than alumni of ag school-fargo) truthfully wants to cheer for UND and only UND. It is well on its way to happening again, but will take some time … although we’re ahead of schedule.

Several care, actually; it is called a rivalry. Thanks for sharing your two cents on why it doesn’t affect you or your so called “friends and relatives” who are front-running, but there are several others who do actually understand how the ag school undermines UND and thus they understand the importance of upholding this rivalry on the gridiron, given its legacy, tradition, history, etc., as well as its impact on the perception of both schools to young people (future prospective students and current students).

Bye Week: Rest, Recover, and Recruiting. Prepare to start conference season 1-0 on 10/4/25 versus Northern Iowa. Would like to see a complete game down in Cedar Falls after the 2023 implosion down there following 2023 NDSU game… I suspect we will see a complete game. Let’s Go Hawks
