  1. He only knows words like...good...and ball...and...HAND BANANA!
  2. Wow...inviting trolling are we? Drunk Hockey Guy is a decent guy to talk to at the bar- not a fan of his posts. But, he is a huge hockey fan and a homer for his team- sound like some people you know? Runs With the Dogs- I sat by her once at a game and she was very nice. I have no negative comments- she's a hockey fan who loves her some Bulldogs...can't fault that.
  3. Remember, its the right players, not the best players. I see quite a few Seattle T-Birds games. Eansor is a very nice player- playing against a bunch of Team Canada's likely players on a 3x/week basis. He isn't razzle dazzle, but he is very solid two-way with some nice upside. He was hurt for part of the season. The Canadian team will be stacked- we need to think about how we beat a team with more talent- its about the right character and guys buying into the right roles.
  4. Is Gersich dinged up or did he get benched tonight? I like what that kid brings...stupid if he's benched.
  5. One more thing- the freshman are all still adjusting to the college game's speed. I think Wilkie, JJ, Rhett, and SG will all start putting more points up in the second half. Boesser for that matter too- although he is clearly worthy of his #1 pick status based on how he's adapted and produced already. Simo is also a freshman for all intents and purposes. He didn't get much ice time last year. Pogo is in a typical sophomore slump- he'll work out of it. I think this team only gets deeper as the season wears on.
  6. Honestly at this point I'd roll: CBS RG with JJ and SG Simo with Chyz and Poggo LJ with Olsen and Wilkie
  7. Clearly there has been a lack of production from LJ. He has disappointed. Poganski is on a drought as is Chyzyk- but I believe both will start to get some bounces. Simo, JJ, SG, and RG are all producing as I would expect. I might try and shuffle things up a bit...maybe tryout RG with JJ and SG and see if that line can generate.
  8. Was at a Seattle Thunderbirds game over the weekend. Mathew Barzal, #1 pick of Islanders and slick skill player got ran along the end boards- he was vulnerable, and the hit was vicious- certainly charging or boarding with contact up high. Without an instant of hesitation, his linemate Keegan Kolesar had lost his gloves and was feeding the Moose Jaw player responsible. You stick up for your teammates...especially when they are skill guys... I seem to recall Dino ordering the code red and sending Matt Greene out to protect Zach Parise in a similar situation...
  9. Especially as we've been struggling to score goals outside of the CBS line...I think Bubba needs to mix things up a little...shake it up. JJ and Gersich could be interesting catalysts.
  10. Happy Thanksgiving folks- Lots to be thankful for. I wish you all peace and enjoyment with family and friends over this and the upcoming holidays. Go Sioux, Go Hawks. Pound some bird and stuffing, then pound the Spartans.
  11. we were due for a bad showing...St Cloud is a very good team. No way that we were going to sweep them in their barn
  12. agree- a guy put some time into a concept. Like it or not, a person should abide by common courtesy...even if hidden behind a computer. I was raised that you could tell a lot about s person by how they acted when no one was watching. no need to lay into somebody.
  13. Under the subject of not on the national radar...let alone anyone's radar...
  14. It is a University and a place for higher learning, I'll give you that. Merit Scholars in Boston aren't exactly applying in droves...
  15. I don't disagree that there are much bigger sports and much bigger conferences. However, if ANYTHING, then hockey it must be.
  16. Wow! The inadequacy complex of the non-hockey crowd. Look- I will unabashedly state that I am a hockey only fan for UND. The other poster was correct, it is the singular item that places UND on the national scene. You can argue otherwise and get your Fighting Hawk feathers ruffled, but it isn't like world class Texas high school footballers have UND on their short list. After a day to digest, I will support the Fighting Hawks and really hope we get a native roots logo aka the Seattle Thunderbirds- not proposing that logo, but stating that their logo is a native inspired totem of a Thnderbird
  17. and posts are a measure of what? free time?
  18. As someone who grew up in GF, loved the Sioux, watches 90% of hockey games, has traveled to see them many times, was a staple at the FInal Five, but otherwise has no affiliation to UND, having attended Minnesota for undergrad and business school, and not having lived a full year in GF since 1993...well, its really a lame, generic nickname. You can argue that it keeps the tradition of "FIghting" and that there will be no controversy whatsoever, so it is expediant and safe, but in the end, it is completely undifferentiated. I'm surprised I care this much this morning, but whatever. Going forward, I hope they do as much as possible to incorporate the four feathers from the old logo into the new one.
  19. when does this gong show end? Truthfully, I am asking the timeline of when we will know the results of the voting- obviously I am not very close to this-
