  1. Time to see what the boys in the room are all about...
  2. I am frustrated, but this is a hell of a hockey game... Sioux need to stop being cute and simply move the puck. It does seem like the puck isn't sitting on our sticks...I would've thought the ice was bad too, until i heard otherwise on here... Cam has let in a softie, which is the difference so far...
  3. I saw them as the last team in if only RMU and MInny get in as auto-qualifiers outside of the top 16...so they'd be holding their breath... what I am getting at is that they will be playing desperate to not have their season end and to control their playoff destiny
  4. Gotta think that Johnson will stay with the women's program... Cary Eades...talk about the irony there if that happened! WATER BOTTLE!
  5. Need to really take it to them...the longer the Dawgs stick around and the more confident Kas gets...well...I'd rather be up 3-0 with them on their heels after 20 (captain obvious here). UMD HAS to win a game this weekend or they are done. Its really that simple. There is no scenario where they lose 2 that they make the NCAAs. Winning one game results in the edge of the bubble, praying for no PWR upset auto-bids. Although praying, for example, for the Gophers to lose is likely not foreign to the Dawg faithful.
  6. Absolutely abysmal...Big 10 hockey...wow...
  7. Dogs are good. We're better. Sandy is good. Brad is better. CBS has way more talent- don't object Dawgs, the NHL agrees...than the Dawgs top line The winner will be who is able to dictate their game.
  8. from...ah...time to...time to time....
  9. I am feeling philosophical tonight- there are so many measures of success, and we never appreciate all that we've been given and all that we give. My grandfathers were both of the greatest generation and both fought in WW2. They were never rich men by financial terms. They weren't blessed in athletic terms. They both had standing room only funerals due to all of the lives they impacted. That is what we need to teach our children, and sport is part of the development of character that creates men and women, who, leave this earth better than they found it by a hyperbolic margin.
  10. As long as players and parents are well-rounded and keep it in perspective, the time and financial commitment is kinda more like a barometer than a thermostat. My kid is good- better than most boys 2-3 years older, he is way too young to make a decision as to if he is REALLY good, and even more premature to make a decision if he is D1 good or crazy thought- won the genetic lottery to be NHL good. I am fortunate to be able to fund and support whatever he wants to do- That said, I have a professional and social life away from hockey. I think my son should too- not to say his hockey buddies aren't his besties, or that I don't love hoisting a few with the moms and dads in the hotels. My thought is simple: let him have a blast, if he wants to play in a AAA select tournament, let him, if he wants to climb on the monkey bars, let him. Teach him to be a good teammate, a good friend, to learn that hard work and collaboration can take you anywhere.
  11. All the attention will be on CBS and Cam as we roll into the final stretch. I agree you need your horses to run in order to win it all, but I firmly believe our chance at number 8 hangs fully on our dcorps and the depth at forward. to me, those pieces are what makes this team special- everybody from here on out will need grade A goaltending, and every team has a very good to great top 3 and top pair.
  12. Six wins from paydirt...F the PWR...just keep winning
  13. I've always liked the Dawgs...fellow Gopher haters during my childhood. There were also some epic battles in the early 80's...
  14. I think the team that's scored 20 goals in its last 3 games is pretty scary too... I watch a lot of WHL where I am, and man James Patrick's kid is having a year...he isn't even draft eligible this summer and he's going to have a 40 goal 100 point 17 year old season. He had 30 goals and 56 points his 16 year. Add great bloodlines for hockey and a 6'3 195 pound frame...wow...I guess I see why he didn't pick UND...he looks to be NHL ready now...
  15. You're correct. For some reason, I thought this was the Pig10 tourney as well. I forgot that they don't have a first round.
  16. if Minny loses tomorrow, they will miss on a regional they are hosting
  17. officials are missing a pretty good game out there tonight...
  18. They try to, but in this case, that would be subordinate to two rules that they are definite on- #1 seeds go closest to home in rank order, and host schools go to the Regional they are hosting. This is an odd duck year too in that the theoretical 15 and 16 seeds are actually pretty decent in pwr ranked 17 and 21 respectively. Its not like one is a complete cupcake.
  19. NCHC: 4 Hockey East: 5 Big 10: 2 ECAC: 3 WCHA: 1 Atlantic: 1
  20. There is no way the timing is right on that story. It would take him at least 15 minutes to drive to the rink, park, and rush to get his equipment on.
  21. They're both really good guys- I can remember when I was actually better at hockey than they were...back in about 1991 : ) and that was only because I was older!
  22. As of tonight, my bracketology: St Paul- 1. NoDak vs 15. Minnesota 8. Michigan vs 9. BU Worcester- 4. Providence vs 13. UMD 5. BC vs 11. Harvard Albany- 2. QU vs 16. RMU 7. Yale vs 10. Notre Dame Cinci- 3. SCSU vs 14. MTU 6. DU vs 12. Lowell St Paul and Worcester are attendance dreams... Count those Natty's in St. Paul...region of death
