  1. Thanks! Happy Easter to all!
  2. Tony Hrkac is that you?
  3. mediocre money for 3-4 years, a signing bonus that basically gets you a downpayment on a middle-class house after taxes and agents...doesn't seem worth it...get a meteorology degree and a natty, then be the local weatherman hero for the next 40 years...or go be a producer for Vaalers...great life is available if you stay...
  4. Zane is gone after this year, so is Schmaltz...neither will see the NHL in 2016 for anything more than a cup of coffee orientation, but both will skate in the NHL in the future. Do you all remember the dominance that Parise, Toews, Oshie had their last years...nobody can take over a game like that today with the possible exception of Zane. If Stecher or Jewels or LaDue go pro, it is for a quick hit signing bonus and a 50k per year gig in the A
  5. Blaiser is one of the most personable, generous, and entertaining personalities you can ever meet after a series when out for beers. He is not pretentious or rude or self-absorbed... He will drink with anyone who loves hockey and make you feel like you're his good friend. Doug Woog is that way too.... It's old school hockey family stuff...they both are among the best in the business
  6. The SCSU goal was a blown coverage by Poolman, not Panzo. It was the wing lined up opposite Poolman that scored. As a wing you have your counterpart until the puck moves back to the point- you then have coverage on the point on your side of the rink. On a quick play like that, the d doesn't have time to take that wing. My immediate reaction was that was Pooly playing wing and not having enough time upfront to make the right play there.
  7. The most important thing is that we have last line change because of our seed.
  8. Even Parise didn't go straight to the show...although that was likely lock-out driven. I think Red is frustrated that he just lost a key contributor for his team next year and realizes its going to be tough to return to winning ways. Its the nature of the college hockey landscape. I think that Red is probably correct, but at the same time I agree with the posters here saying you just keep it to yourself.
  9. I have DU winning it all, so while good through today, I'm toast
  10. I despise Miami and hope they never win a game again/ enjoy the summer of golf and Blasi is a dbag- #worsethangophers
  11. I don't read much anymore- I did read... Dostoyevsky and Dickens (among my favorites) Crime and Punishment and A Tale of Two Cities stand out... I had to read a bunch of books in 9 years of under grad and professional school... I think not having a personal opinion built on knowledge and data points is dangerous... I think most people are idiots...they can think of me what they wish...
  12. Dissenting and venting is not being a fair weather fan! I would guess some of the most die-hard and loyal supporters of UND hockey voice their frustrations and disappointment on this board. I certainly do. Being a fan does not mean that you approach the team as infallible or that you must cheerlead... is your avatar seriously a tramp stamp? Not trying to be a dick...
  13. not that my W2 is that big...nor do I hide any money from the IRS...Snowden...you watching this board?
  14. I don't want my W2 anywhere near the public domain...GFHockey...watch out for the IRS my brother...especially if you're living large without any tax shelters!
  15. I love you on this board my man- upper six means pushing 7 though...nobody's pulling that out of the fields without equity- I'm guessing you mean pushing $200k
  16. what song will you choose to die to?
  17. To me, work on the ice is about finishing checks, stops and starts, winning races and loose puck battles... Being physically spent on each shift. Here's an example of what vexes me: The perfect lane doesn't open up, so the D chip it off the glass or the forwards dump it in- yes, it prevents you from being scored on, but it also causes a loss of possession. Now with guys named Zajac, Stafford, Oshie, Toews, Frattin, Kristo, Knight, Grimaldi...there was enough God given talent to score goals in that system...not sure how that translates this year. I am supporting the team and enjoying the ride- no big expectations- would love to see us come out gunning to blow QU out the Zamboni doors!
  18. I think the boys were stressed out and holding their sticks too tight. Winning means "playing" and playing means that you are having fun. Fast and loose is how hockey needs to be played...not worrying about making mistakes...and obsessing over details. I hate the approach of winning that is based on "making fewer mistakes than your opponent." How about "making more awesome plays than your opponent." I think this might be exactly why we win a ton of games, but not the big one under Hak...the recipe of detail and not making mistakes vs flow and making plays. Top Gun analogy: Hak is Iceman and trains the team to be like Iceman...Dean Blais is Maverick (ironic given the mascot in Omaha) Disclaimer: I am in no way calling for Hak's head or a coaching change with this statement
  19. I live in Minneapolis, but happened to have a trip planned that overlapped with Friday. Still, I almost went down and scalped tickets for Saturday for my kids and I- so glad that I did not. This is the first time that I haven't been to the Final Five or Final Faceoff in over a decade- I'm pleased that I saved my money!
  20. I have a feeling that Jewels is more banged up than anyone is letting on...
  21. I was thinking of Murphy playing over Simonson
  22. Powerplay will be the decider...need to really work on finding the open man- I'd really rather see us play an overload rather than an umbrella.
  23. Murphy did play well enough IMO as well...he also brings an offensive upside (although we have yet to see it at the NCAA level)...it might be worth it for that upside to play him on the 4th line...
