What's killed this team is no Chay due to injury and no VV due to who knows what. Remember before Sat all our losses were by one goal. You have to think that Friday in Denver and Minneapolis and Saturday in Duluth would've had different outcomes with Chay back there. 3 wins instead of two losses and a tie...against those teams? With our youth...we would be looking like a contender. I do agree that Eids is not the man. Interesting what Sandelin does...his teams are not loaded with NHLers, but he gets the most out of them.

Hak makes market for a big-time college hockey program. Big time football and basketball coaches make 7 figures. It is a 24 hour job. Hak is always the head coach of UND hockey. He must constantly sell it, promote it, and be an ambassador of it. He doesn't get to leave work at the office, so the freebies he gets in terms of rounds of golf, drinks, lunches, etc are all work related. I have no problem with his salary.

$210,000 base, $52,500 in bonus incentives, and $50,000 in deferred compensation. So he makes $260,000 in a bad year and $312,500 if we win it all.

Venting is healthy, but its time to get over the loss. It was the first time all year that we lost by more than a goal, and it was against our arch rival and fellow national powerhouse. If memory serves me even the Hrkac Circus lost a game at Mariucci. The Gophers are a much better team with that Cepis, so their record pre-cepis should be discounted in evaluating them. We all knew that we were a young team with moderate (by our standards) realistic expectations. Top it off with Chay and Hexy being out of the lineup...what can we expect? Hak can't make Chay's head and Hexy's leg better. All that said, I still hate the cycle approach to offensive zone work, and It stl hurts to not have won. The loss to DU with the Parise team in the Regional and the loss to BC with the DOT line are probably more on Hak AND Blais than this weekend was.

Stub and Herb's is probably the closest to Mariucci. Both Sally's and Stub's will be packed with Gopher faithful as well as some green and white.

How great a boost would it be to get number 5 back for this weekend's games...you gotta believe he wants to play, so if there is anyway that he can go, he'll be in the lineup.

I've put out a couple options, but they are for after Kristo gets back and after Darcy gets healthy. I agree with keeping Malone and Trupp together. For this weekend maybe: VV with Gregoire and Hexy Malone with Trupp and Toews Rowney with Mario and Davidson Knight with Cichy and Frattin I see Frattin moving up the depth chart, but I think that part of the statement will be skating him on the fourth line this weekend.

Really glad to have Matt back. I sincerely doubt it has anything to do with the team's record or roster. Hakstol had to adhere to strict rules to control the team, so he had to suspend him. Frattin made some dumb decisions, but they sound like decisions that many a college man makes. Nothing unforgiveable, just stupidity with booze. Frattin paid a heavy price and it sounds like he manned up and accepted accountability, righted himself, never quit training and trying to get another shot. Sounds like a true Sioux to me...perseverance, accountability, never quitting, and ultimately earning his opportunity back. Way to go kid. Now pump home 20 this second half!!!

You have a point with the two shooters, but I like speed with speed, and it seems that our shortage is playmakers where I really only see Trupp being effective of late. Gregoire should be a playmaker, so I want to get him with people who can play with him. Maybe this: Malone with Trupp and Kristo (power forward with playmaker with shooter) VV with Gregoire and Frattin (power forward with playmaker with shooter) Zajac, Lammy and Rowney Toews with Hextall and Cichy

One thing about Frattin is that he can flat out skate, which might make him a nice off winger with Kristo. I like: Malone with Trupp and Gregoire VV with Frattin and Kristo Zajac with Mario and Rowney Toews with Hextall and Cichy That is a deep four lines that can all score

this is the first I've heard of justin.tv. I went on the site and searched "UMD" and "Fighting Sioux" and nothing came up. How do you navigate to find a channel? Or more specifically, how can I find the game tonight? I paid $7 to B2 last night and couldn't pull the game.

Should be a great weekend of hockey. UMD has one line that is sick. If we can shut them down, we will sweep. If we can't, we could get swept. The DECC is a small ice surface (short, with a shorter neutral zone). This can give fits to the transition game. Watch for some early offsides as timing will be slightly off. UMD's quick forwards will test us. We will need to establish a physical presence early.

anybody's feed all messed up?

I didn't notice that with Jake, and I am usually fairly critical. COuldn't agree more on Lammy and Malone. Zajac too. Our second and third lines continue to impress. The whole forward on the point on the pp bothers me. As a former forward, I hated anytime a bad change happened or we got caught up and I'd end up having to play like a defenseman...positioning as a defender is so huge, especially in space. Any defenseman can play wing and forecheck, but few forwards can do the job of a defenseman. I move Kristo off the point, set him up as a shooter on the #2 pp. I know that we are trying to get him going by giving him lots of ice time, but we have to set him up to succeed.

Jake made one noticeable mistake where he got caught pinching...however we had no goals at the time and were down, so we needed to get some offense from Jake. He redeemed himself with his speed; catching up to the play and taking a good penalty. Without Chay, Jake is our only offensive threat on the blueline. I contend that Jake was not making defensive blunders, but was taking calculated risks and got burned once. Fienhage is very green, and had a couple really bad gaffes. Jake isn't big, but the kid is arguably the best skater on the team.

Breakout drills and powerplay all week in practice. Without Chay we looked awful in both. Huge series.
