This team is 5-3-2 through 10 games with Alaska and a traditional Hockey East Power as non-conference opponents ( we have gone 1-2-0 against non-conference) The 2010-2011 Frozen Four squad was 5-4-1 through 10 games with Alaska and a traditional Hockey East Power as non-conference opponents (we went 1-2-0 against non-conference)

So, here is what I surmise... I think Hak tutors the boys on his system in slow motion to start the season, then gradually turns the tempo up. That would be a possible reason for our slow starts and strong finishes. Almost like learning to dance. You learn the steps slowly so you get them right, while you learn them, you get crushed by other teams who simply play simple, fast hockey. Once you get the system down, however, you are tough to beat. If you try to go full speed too quickly, you miss the little things that make you great. Slow motion reveals faults, which can then be addressed and improved. This might also be a reason why our defensemen appear to look like they've never seen such aggressive forechecks and jumping of passing lanes early in the season.

Yup, a breakout without flow is best

Positives from this weekend: I really think we are getting to some lines- Knight with Kristo and MacMillan is legit, so is Grimaldi with Caggiula and St Clair. I actually think all forward lines showed me something tonight. Negatives from this weekend: Terrible breakout, worse power play, and even worse defensive zone play So, everything that needs work is coached, that means the coaches can do something about it.

Jeez Hammer...I'm sure Forbert cares a lot about being "player of the game"...hammer is a tool...

If the refs don't police the game correctly, the players will take matters into their own hands
-
toe drag show-off
-
Make up call for what might've been a penalty coming out of the SIoux zone on that last goal... Junk officiating this weekend. If there is a fight tonight, it is pure and simple because the refs did not do their job

BEAUTY!
-
Just keep it simple- do some give and gos. How about 4 corners on the pp- 2 point men, a guy at the bottom of each circle, and a guy in the slot
-
This is difficult to watch...AWFUL PP

Sandy has one as an Assistant Coach in 1997, one as an Associate Head Coach in 2000, and one as a Head Coach in 2011.

We are just awful in our own end. I don't understand it. All these draft picks can't be physically slower than our opponents, but they sure look slower. Move the puck and move the feet. Play physical and play aggressive. This is not a passive, thinking game. Its about attacking and reacting .

I don't think anyone has called for Bubba's head- everyone is just saying that it appears that the D have taken a step backwards, and that is unacceptable- I would also guess that he has worked individually with every one of the D since the minute he was hired.
-
Wow- Hak read my mind. Read my post on the Friday game. Only thing I did differently was who I had partnered on d. I thought it made sense to protect Panzo with Mac in his first game back...

I agree that MacMillan has played really well at center of late. I do think he is a skilled enough player to be the offensive creator on a line. I just hate to stack a line so heavily...although it would give the Dogs fits...
-
Tonight I would like to see: Knight with MacMillan and Kristo Grimaldi with Caggiula and St Clair Rowney with Gaarder and O'Donnell Chyzk with Pattyn and Rodwell Mac and Panzo Forbert and Schmaltz Simpson and Mattson Zane

Lazy, poor passing, no team play, standing around in our own zone...poor, poor effort. Agree with the posters on the lack of results from Bubba. Defense needs work, big time. Gleason needs to sit- he was brutal. BRUTAL, and has been the past few weekends. Schmaltz looks like a boy playing with men in the physical department. Our breakout continues to suck as well as our powerplay- hmmm- defense and powerplay sucks...that's on Berry. Breakout still sucks, year over year, that is on Hak. Now, I know we "always" turn it around, but the 3 biggest issues right now are coached. I'd actually say 4, because effort has been lackluster too. I don't call for Hak's ouster ever, but this teams current issues are on him. Time for him to figure it out.

I don't blame Lemieux. You gotta go where you can play. Especially as a 16 year old. You need to develop, and skating 3rd/4th line behind 20 year olds isn't going to cut it.
-
LOL..I'm surprised they could remember that far back, considering they were all 30
-
curious how you think it is easier to skate than walk? Glide maybe, but certainly not skating in a D1 hockey game...stops and starts, hard turns working all 4 edges...not to mention getting hit...
-
Agree, but the Hall of Fame coach exploited it and his team won the game. edit: Dominated play most of the third and won the game
-
He has been awesome drawing double attention to himself with some nice cross ice moves, then passing backdoor- He has set up Knight with 2 gimmes that Knighter just couldn't bury. He also set up Rowney that way once. He has been firing just high too...
-
let alone the Zajac, Stafford, Oshie, Toews team- that is 4 of our top 6 that are top 6 in the NHL now
-
Agree 100% That was HOCKEY. Both teams in both games...the team that executed won. Just like the NCAA tourney...both also have quite a few freshman that will not be freshmen in March/April
